  1. In response (to Fowler) whom I respect, I understand what your saying as well, but where our line of thinking on recruiting differs, I believe, is on the value of our home state talent. I know there are always going to be higher rated position players from around the country ie; the 1st, 2nd, maybe 3rd highest rated players on the Husker board you are referring to. But, my point is unless every one of those higher rated guys are 5 stars, which we all know they aren't and most likely none are rated 5 stars, then this home town kid should be offered because more than likely, he has grown up a Husker fan and having done so, gives him the bigger heart to perform as a Husker and develop into that Husker All-American or All Conference 1st team player we have so often seen in the past! Bottom line, in MY OPINION is, this kid is worth the scholarship taken up that the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd better rated players that sit higher on our recruiting board are! Husker history has shown that the Nebraska kid growing up idolizing the Huskers and have been dreaming of playing for the Huskers all their lives, many times turn out to be one of the best players on the team year in and year out! It's a proven fact, with years of proof! Look at Jake Long for example... this guy was a walk-on and not as highly thought of as Harrison Phillips coming out of high school but has turned into one of our best 0-lineman on the team if not the best! Plus this kid (Phillips) is as athletic as they come with his performance scores that he recently posted!

I have to agree with you. One of the things that the kids from Neb bring to the table, is tradition. They teach other out of state kids, what it means to be a Cornhusker. What's been passed on from one class to the next, by our walk ons or schollies, players. I think we started to lose some of that under BC, and now maybe its getting instilled, once again. GBR!!!

What about a kid from say, Florida that had grown up a husker fan? Does he have less passion? Does he play with less intensity? Why does the geographical location have anything to with heart or drive?

  2. lol, the koolaid brigade is on the scene.

How many post have we had on huskerbaord the last three years, people bitching about Bo? Unless your blind, they are all over the place. Hell even a few boosters have stopped donating as much (ie why SE needed to win some back). So to ask, "what fans?" is just stupid.

Qmany, no not a guarantee, but most coaches arent fired after the first year or two. Yes there have been some, but its not the norm.

Jarvis, ya, odd wording on behalf. I meant "we" have people. I been a fan of NU since i was 8, graduated from NU and my family has had season tickets for 22 years. I would still be a fan, even is Cally was still here - that will never change

I do stand corrected Arky general acedmics isnt as good as NU. I was just thinking their business school, which is top notch,

  3. i wouldnt hold your breath. Beilma will lay it on thick his success with Offensive Linemen and our lack of succes in the that area, being in the SEC, etc. Arky has arguable better academics and new coaches that should be there 4-5 years - where as you have fans calling for Bo's head already. Hope i am wrong, but I dont see us winning this one.

  4. b12 schools arent going anywhere unless the conf disolves. They have all their rights tied to teh B12 conference. If they leave, they get NO money for years to come. The B1G isnt going to take a school that doesnt own their own television rights.

The couch burner doesnt know sh#t, not sure why people even entertain his rediculous ideas.

  5. i disagree, Marrow had a way to connect with kids. I dont hink Beck or JP are bad, just not as good as Marrow. Some thing with Tosh here in washington, he just has a gift with connecting with these kids. Marrow had that gift, which is why i wish we would have found room for him on the staff.

  6. THis isnt the kids fault or even Marrows fault. THis is our won coaches fault, plain and simple. You want to be mad? Be mad at our coaches who couldnt hang on to a recruit after they commited here a year ago. Losing a kid to UK should put a huge spotlight on our coaches recruiting. Also pretty obvious we should have kept Marrow and fired Barney. Just another example of Pelinis ego coming back to haunt him.

  7. ya, i keep hearing something about a LB being looked at for safety. The guy i heard it from wouldnt say which, so just a rumor at this point. But, this would explain wanting another top quality LB that can get early playing time.

Coach Wallerstedt was a good LB coach, it will be tough for TAMU to replace him.

  8. would disagree with your KINGS. You put Texas in there but not Florida, LSU or Oregon? Do i really need to explain myself on that?

Yes the B1G has 4 "traditional" powers, but only one was a contender this year and probably next year, OSU. Mich wont be great next year with all the young talent. NU offense will be scary, but their deffense will lose them games. PSU defense will be good, but their sanctions will hinder them for years to come. Wisky will fall on its face, as well as MSU. THat leaves OSU being great, PSU, NU and Mich being decent, NW being wild, and the rest sucking. Sounds a lot like the SEC, B12 and PAC next year as well (1 good team, 2-3 decent teams and the rest suck).
