  1. With Wisconsin meeting Nebraska next week, what do you think their strategy will be for tomorrows game? With the weather for tomorrow's game expected to be much like todays Nebraska/Iowa game (maybe slightly warmer) with a 30% chance of rain, does Wisconsin rest their starters as much as possible by liberally substituting during the game or do they feel they need to go all out so they don't limp into the Big Ten Championship game with a 4-4 conference record?

As the breeze has already hinted at: Wisconsin has already punched their ticket to the BIG title game. Their game against Pedophile State matters only if "pride" is factored into the conference standings.

In other words Wisconsin could lose this game 782-0 and they'd still be headed to Indianapolis.

Your post is completely ridiculous. Its not those players fault for what happened there. Grow up.

I said nothing about the current players being "at fault." I said that it doesn't matter in the slightest what the outcome of tomorrow's Wisc-Ped St game is.

If you have a problem with my refering to Penn State as Ped St then that is exclusively YOUR problem.

Edit: If I was Brett Bielma I'd rest all my #1's and let the #2's and lower play because win or lose the Badgers are still headed to the BIG title game.

  3. I'm really worried about our line play with the 2 most important players on each side out for the game. Nya, they played well after Stein and Jackson went down but Wisconsin ain't Io_a (they can't buy a "w")

Oh...a "Wheel of Fortune" reference...you should patent that.

Actually Wisconsin is precisely Iowa with a slightly better running game.

There is a reason why Wisconsin doesn't go shotgun, 4 or 5, WR. They don't have the talent at WR nor the QB to get those WRs the ball out of a spread set.

The Badgers are at their best when they can line up in 2 and 3 TE sets and run the ball, utilizing play-action off of it. Take away the Badgers running game and they lose any offensive potency they might have had.

  4. Serious question. Were you lol'ing cuz my statement of the alties had not merit, because I believe it had a lot to do with the way the team came out at the start of the Wisconsin game. Now, after weeks of the same thing game after game, the thunder to my thoughts were kind of stolen, but seriously, these Pelini teams have had a history of having troubles enough getting properly prepared for big games, so I didnt understand how we expected them to be totally sharp when we give them a whole'nother thing to think about all week (or fall) than the game. Just a thought. I considered the alternates a distraction for us, because it's something we never do.

Serious answer. The uniform a team wears has absolutely nothing to do with if they win or lose. The uniform has no bearing whatsoever on how the team plays. That's what I LOL'ing about.

  5. we are gunna smoke wisconsin, it will be funny

You definitely have not watched the last 6 games. :-)

Congrats to Husker Nation for sure.

And since you've slept through the last 6 games you're not really in a position to criticize anyone. Okay so it was only one game where you openly admitted to sleeping through a Nebraska game, but it does call into question your critique.

  6. huh...

Its a slice of life thread son . Find someone with some reading comprension skillz and ax em.

And maybe while I'm looking for someone with reading comprehension skills I could find someone who knew the difference between was and were because it is obviously not you.

  7. If we get through this season and win the conference championship-even if it does have an asterisk-with the veterans on this team being Bo's supposed worst recruting classes, and now that we've settled in this new conference, we should be able so "set the cruise" so to speak and get back to just playin football, as we were in 2009. 2009 to me is really the only season Bo has had where it was just football and no drama or distractions if you would say. 2008 was his first year, 2010 was last year in big12 and all the Tmajic ups and downs, the A&M and whatnot. 2011 was first year in a new conference. This is year there were issues. Bo going to hospital. Tom stepping down. Alternate unis. Still new road trips in the Big10. New AD hire. Again some new coaches on staff. I just look at 2009 as really the only year in Bo's 5 that was really just about playing football without any major off-field distractions taking place. I'm thinking starting next year we'll get back to that, and it will take a lot of stress off the players and staff, becuase over the last 3 seasons, there has been a lot of off-field bs to endure on top of preparing for games.

I lol'd at the part in bolded green. But yeah your overall premise I agree with. I seriously think that if Nebraska would have had any other coach during the 2008-2011 seasons the Huskers wouldn't have had 9 wins each season. In fact, I think that with the circumstances as they unfolded that if we had any other coach that NU would have had at least two losing seasons, already fired a coach, with the replacement already on the hot seat and on his way out.

There is, sadly, a segment of Husker fans who, at this time, don't realize the gem we have in Bo. They'll come around...eventually.

  8. People forget how close this year's team is to being around 6-5 right now. A crazy comeback against NW. A crazy replay official against Penn St. A crazy stupid personal foul on Dennard's 99-yard would-be pick six that kept us hanging on. What happens if Robinson doesn't get injured? Or Gardner comes in instead of worst-FBS-QB-I-can-remember Bellomy? Who knows? But I bet it goes down to the wire. This year has been Angels in the Endzone for us. And it's been fun to watch, but I don't pretend this is a great team.

And some people forget (or conveniently ignore) how close this team is to being 11-0. Nebraska's mistakes gave Ohio State 21 easy points and handed UCLA the game.

  9. Watson couldn't develop QBs but Beck can? Martinez's development came at the hands of an outsider that isn't even affiliated with UNL, so I'm not sure how anyone can claim Beck developed Martinez.

Martinez got help from a quarterback coach during the offseason when Beck wasn't allowed to have contact with him. It's a big stretch to go from "Martinez got good outside help during the offseason" to "Martinez learned everything he knows from an outsider and nothing from Beck." To assume Beck had no involvement in his development is silly.

The last thing the "I hate Taylor Martinez" crowd needs is for you to bring relevant facts into the discussion.

  10. This offense has some good stats, but it's too godamn sloppy. Stats don't tell the whole story. I know we have a good offense, clearly one of the best we've had in probably the last 10 years or so, and that's why it's so frustrating when we lose or struggle against sh**ty teams.

I know how yous kids likes 'em sloppy!

I gave you a +1 simply for the "Billy Madison" reference. LOL.

  11. "Flippen, the colored man."

    eyeswear2allthatsholy

To be fair, I think he was only like the third black guy to play college football, and first in the Midwest. Or something like that.

So it was quite notable in those times.

I know. It just seems incredibly odd, and wrong, to hear (or read) something like that today. But back in the day, when this story was first published, lines like that were common place.

  12. I think it's time Bo shuts his mouth and stops with his normal rhetoric and does his job and wins. If he doesn't win, but at least we played well enough to be in the game then i'm ok, but to play like we have been against decent to good teams is simply unacceptable to me. No more of the party line he touts after every loss and no more excuses. This is year 5 and his players, time to man up and stop giving us BS excuses.

Curious about what your opinion is now.
