Really? Perhaps I’m missing something you’re seeing it vice versa. Reeds stupid penalty gave a first down when it would have been 4th and 24. No one knows what would have happened but.........

  2. If the pregame and the Crowd reaction when  the Huskers came out of the Tunnel was negative? Then you weren’t at the game. I’ve been attending games since 1967. I was at the Oklahoma game in 78 when Billly sims fumbled, at the Miami game. No matter what game or what opponent, I was always able to hear the band until, last night. Never has the stadium erupted like that. You couldn’t even hear your own voice in your head. Announcers on Tv (my daughters told me) said they even got goose bumps from the scene. I imagine the recruits were left with the thought of OMG!!!  It’s like that just when they run onto the field! Yes, it would have been awesome to have seen a game and experienced the whole hit dog but, not a totally negative experience. JMHO

  4. I stated from the beginning I hope Meyer is innocent and stays at OSU it only helps the B1G. However, after having his text messages wiped that dated over a year, says it all. He knew everything and didn’t care. I’ve lost all respect for him as a man. Great coach but a sleeze ball of a man.

  5. All this reteric flying around. Non OSU fans of course want to see Meyer gone. I (Husker Fan since 1958) however don’t,  even though it doesn’t look good for him with current information we have.  I’d rather see him stay. It only makes the B1G stronger. OSU no matter what will always be a big dog (Blue Blood).  Yeah, they may fall a little with hard times. Like all Blue Bloods do but, History indicates that they will still be a team to be reckoned with just like Penn State. Hopefully, Nebraska will resurface and claim their spot among the elite. As a true fan of college football, I’d rather face OSU with Urban then without him. Then a victory would be earned. Right now the B1G is the best conference. Losing Meyer can only hurt the conference as a whole. If he’s guilty of a cover up then he should go. Just like Paterno. Justice will prevail. I hope it’s in favor of keeping Meyer where he is.

  6. I went to HS with another decent back that wanted to go to USC. He didn't get the offer from them I believe due to grades(could be off base here). New him quite well. Was passed from grade to grade. Didn't really have to do the work to stay eligible due to his talent. Don't recall if prop 48 was in effect in 69 or not but I believe it was. To make a long story short, this athlete did receive a scholarship to NU after having to cram for SAT/ACT/CEEB (college entrance exam board)whatever test athletes had to pass.back then. Myself not being an athlete i also had to take CEEB for admittance to NU. This particular athlete won the Heisman at NU. Johnny the Jet.

I didn't see where this kid blamed it on anyone. I only read where a friend of his pointed the finger at teachers. Yes, I do believe teachers and administrators have to shoulder some of the blame for not preparing these kids for life after HS. Get them special classes so their reading skills improve enough so they can understand the work they are trying to do. Those of you getting on this kid have no idea what his home environment was. For him to get the work done shows me he has a good work ethic. I'm excited about this new Husker. JR didn't have much hype coming out of HS. He certainly didn't have his numbers or size

  8. It seems most posters are negative Nancy's. I guess this is one of the only places they can find compatible mates. I was bleeding red before Devaney era began. Social media seems to bring out mostly complainers. Most definetly brings out great arm chair QB's and talent evaluators. NU administration should make all new hires from this board. GBR

Take a chill pill, let's see what Riley and staff can do with talent they bring in. I like this staff (mostly, with a couple exceptions) and what they bring to the table.

  9. You win with class, you lose with class.Things did not go perfectly, seldom do in a football game.Every time I watch this team, I have pride in Nebraska, every time I come to this board I lose some for the members. Your a Nebraska fan, your better than blaming everyone and every thing for failure/loss, accept the team lost, gave a great effort and move on. Kicking the dog is not going to do any good. Figure the positives that we can put against Ohio State. Encourage the kids, the staff and Coach Riley. Your short sighted rants about how bad the team is, the coaching staff is, is mostly hear say. Most don't have an original though. And the story rolls.[/quote

  10. It's obvious Riley lives by a code of decency, humility, respect and care for others. I couldn't care less if he got that way from attending church or from life experience. And I get a little tired of religious people pretending they possess some goodness unavailable to other people- that's nothing but pride and arrogance.

It's available to everyone. The arrogant are the ones that don't feels like they need anything other than themselves.

  11. Jeff Kinney is definetly in the top ten all time. Different eras different offenses. Kinney played in Pro style and was a beast. Always difficult to bring down. Great receiver out of the backfield. There are only 4 or 5 on this list that I'd take over Kinney with his talent in his era over others in their era. If you look at what they did during their time not what they would do in another era jmho. I was 21 for the game of the century. No game since has had 1 vs 2 and by the end of first half everyone knew whomever had the ball last with enough time to score would be the winner. Greatest game ever.

    Don't think there's been a game that matched #1 offense vs # 1 defense and # 2 or 3 offense vs #2 defense.

  12. One other game in my memory of games I attended. OU vs NU 78 and the explosive roar when sims fumbled at the three. I was in the south end zone student section(not a student at the time, graduated 72)for that game. Atmosphere very similar to Saturday's game. Except we were 76,000 strong for that game. I couldn't tell you which roar was louder at the end. Both incredible experiences for me.

If we want to actually talk about the QBs....

Tommy is "vastly improved" this year, "mechanics are much more solid".

Tommy threw a pick six on the second play of 7v7 today.

    Cue the meltdown. :)

    I think the plan is...

IF TA's passing-decision making starts leading to turnovers... and that's IF...

Then the coaches can tweak the offence to more run plays and designed quarterback run plays... hoping that leads to fewer turnovers.

I think the coaching staff will attempt that first... and they will give that a really hard and sustained attempt... before sending in any backups.

We could even end up being a run first team again ?

In fact I just don't see any backups getting any playing time this year unless we are way ahead in games or unless injuries force the issue.

Just stop....that isn't happening with this coaching staff.

And weren't you the one that kept talking about reality in another thread? I think you were...this is another reality for you, this coaching staff is never going to have a run first mentality.

Newby is not Ameer but on the other hand is not as average as some of the above comments. Most players improve as they mature and of course he will look better as we block better. It is amazing how good running backs look when they are playing behind a solid O line and getting the right play calls. Barry Sanders would not have been one of the best ever if he didn't have some darn good help up front.

I agree to a point. When we played Okie light during Thurman Thomas and Barry's time there, Nebraska's D was better than Okie's O, Barry didn't need much space to pop through and then make that sideways cut and leave a Husker backer or safety grabbing air. His O line was ok, it wasn't that solid. JMO
