Maybe it’s just me but I am over wearing a mask. Anywhere it is required will be a place I don’t go. I wore a mask religiously, was down for about 5 weeks with Covid in March/April, am now fully vaccinated and will be getting a booster in the next month or two. I am not concerned at all about Covid at this point. If it gets me again, it gets me again. The very last thing I would do is go to a game in 90 degree heat and wear a mask.

As someone who has had Covid twice before getting vaccinated, you don't want to get it again. The second time has permanently exacerbated my allergies to wear my ears feel plugged a lot of the time and I've had to get on serious allergy medication that I never had to take before in my life. I wish anyone who isn't scared of Covid-19 well because it's not messing around no matter how immune you think you may be or over wearing a mask you are. The pandemic virus doesn't care. GBR

  2. I think we get a win in Illinois. Their secondary is young and not deep at all. If Adrian can get the ball to guys, we can expose them here. Also they're def gonna be leaning on running with their deep backfield and lean receivers room. Excited to see our D-line be a factor in the first game.

Bielema will build Illinois. It's just gonna take a little bit. He can coach in the Big Ten.

  3. Hey guys!

My friends and I will be driving up from LA and would love to join the tailgate! We'll chip in money for food/drinks/booze...but also can we bring anything? ALSO...where are you guys getting your tickets from? I looked online and the cheapest ticket I can find right now is $100...that seems a little pricey for Fresno State...?

  4. Assistant coach Terry Joseph was asked about the Blackshirts and forcing turnovers. Once again, this staff has said something I absolutely disagree with. Not only do I not agree with what is said, but I don't like how this staff has really gone heavy on blaming this team and the players for all the troubles lately.

    The article is here....http://sports.omaha....more-turnovers/

but the part that particularly stood out to me is this comment about forcing turnovers.

“We still need to get more takeaways,” Joseph said at the Big Red Breakfast. “And takeaways come down to two key components – effort and toughness. Because not only do you have to get to the ball, but you got to have a bad attitude when you get there, because that’s going to get the ball out.”

Takeaways come down to effort and toughness? Really? I mean, I thought effort and toughness were a requirement to be playing football at this level? If I was to say what creates more takeaways, I would say "creating pressure" and being in the "right place at the right time". You can give all the effort you want, or be the toughest mother fu&*#r on the block, but if your not where the ball is, you aren't gonna get that f'ing ball. We don't even coach our DB's to look for the ball. And when's the last time you saw a Nebraska player attempt to rip a ball out. How often are we trailing behind opposing players as the run by us? To force fumbles, you've got to be in the gap, and meet the player there with force. To force mistakes by a QB, you have to apply pressure, force bad decisions, and look for the ball when it's in the air. The safeties have to play aggressively, instead of playing in a "scared" two WAYYYYY deep coverage. It just doesn't seem like the type of defense we are playing is aggressive enough to be creating turnovers. I think we have plenty of tough players, giving lot's of effort. They are not being put in a position to be playmakers.

AGREED SIR! I want the coaches to quit blaming the players and SOOOO agree with you on the dbacks not being coached to look for the ball...how many times already this season have we seen a pass interference penalty called when all they had to do was turn around and they probably would've had an interception. Coach the right technique and mechanics to put your players in better position to make a play on the ball. GREAT COMMENT!

  5. We still scored 38 points. We're moving in the right direction. I believe that. But our oline depth was deeply hurt when Cally was fired. Usually new coaches' have their most difficult years in their 4th and 5th seasons because their veterans are their 1st recruiting classes. Perfect example, Urban Meyer at Florida, and he tucked tail and ran. We have to stick with Bo. These nights are tough to handle.

accountability you're cracking me up on these threads...what direction are you talking about? how have we improved in the past 3 years? i'd love to know...please enlighten me. taylor martinez can throw the ball now...sometimes. we have faster receivers and a deeper depth at running back...but lets at the most important factor...wins and losses. Say what you want but at the end of the day...that's what you have to look at. Also, how many big games against top-rated teams have we won? How many BCS bowls have we been in? Wake up, Accountability...Nebraska Football is pretty mediocre right now and has been for too long.

  6. I'm sorry. This is not a support Bo comment but rather a "support program" comment. If we fire him for anything more than .500, you can stick a knife in our football program, for a long LONG time. We had a hard enough time last time we fired a coach for what we considered unacceptable. It puts forth a very bad vibe across the country. We can jump on message boards al we want after losses and such, that's fine. But firing coaches for winning seasons that are not good enough is going down a bad road. No coach with a pulse will want anything to do with this job under those expectations.

DISAGREE DISAGREE DISAGREE...the day we begin to accept an 8-4 season as a good year...the day we begin to accept mediocrity, is the day we officially lose the football tradition at Nebraska. We have the best facilities, the best fans, and the best atmosphere for college football in the country. We deserve the best, we go after the best, and we expect the best. We expect to compete for a national championship every year...THIS IS NEBRASKA...and don't you or anybody else forget it.

  7. K-State is in some nether realm of reality.

No other way to put it. Snyder has built miracles there, and done it twice.

There is no school in the world that has enough money to hire Bill Snyder away from K-State. I admire that about Snyder, it is reminiscent of Tom Osborne.

If we want that kind of loyalty, we need to give that kind of patience. I know we are, historically, on a level far above K-State, but we got there by showing our coach that he wouldn't be canned as long as he won most of them and got the best from his players. This second part is the issue. Is Bo REALLY getting the best from his guys? I do not think so at this point, but I also think it is too soon to write this off. Bo needs a couple more years, at minimum.

    Patience really can pay off.

I know there are coaches that came in and won big right away. We just faced one in Urban. But Urban is a job hopper, and trouble follows him, I think Nebraska is better than that. I think we were burned by the Callahan years, and are anxious to get back to the glory years. Our impatience could kill us, and we need to breathe and look at things more closely after the season.

Will you naysayers be here, if we get into the Rose Bowl? I know you will be if we LOSE the Rose, but will you be here if we GET there, and if we WIN it?

I think the answer is no.

    Patience, my friends.

Don't misread "naysaying" for honest trends. If you look at the last four years Pelini has been here, our defense has gotten progressively worse. Bo's best year?...2009...when Callahan's last recruiting class were seniors. I was at the UCLA game...our D-backs couldn't keep up. Pelini's time at Nebraska? nconsistency rings clear in my mind and many other Husker fans. It's a concern...seeing the same type of play...not being able to win "the big one"...more importantly STILL watching Bo inappropriately chew out players on national television. Who watching this game would honestly want to send their kid to Nebraska after watching Pelini repeatedly lose his temper? I'm a passionate person and I admire Pelini's passion for the game. However, as a head coach, you have to keep it together. He's getting better, but I think he has yet to "turn the corner" as a head football coach. And if a coach can't turn the corner, neither will his team. I wanted to win this game bad...I told people that this would be the game...but it wasn't and to see us have another meltdown on the road...especially when we were in control in the second quarter...was just sad. But I am hoping we figure it out...I'm hoping something happens...it's just hard when we've seen this all before. Again, honest trends.

  8. Didn't we say the same thing when he picked UCLA over us and looked what happened.........BTW I still think OSU will win......BIG

I've been sipping the koolaid over the week like fine scotch and now think we have a chance. Bo and company will eventually turn the corner and pull a tough one out in a hostile environment. This could be the one. We match up pretty good. D needs to show up.

I was definitely surprised Mark May picked us...I was watching the USC game and tweeted about it as soon as I heard it come out of his mouth. Huskerjock, ask anybody here and I bet they'l agree that a TRUE husker fan goes in to every game believing we can win it...even if we're not the best team on paper. Is it gonna be a tough game? Of course. Braxton Miller is one of the most dynamic players in the land right now...he can turn a broken play into a touchdown in 10 seconds BUT...you gotta give us a shot...somewhere you gotta believe that THE GAME is gonna come for us and I for one think this could be it. I have to admit...I have been a "Taylor-hater" but this year he has showed vast improvement. We are a different team with a versatile offense. If our defense shows up and we don't have any stupid turnovers...we win the game. YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!! GBR!

  9. I think an important factor to look at in developing a consistent program at any level is having consistent coaching. I'm concerned with how much turnover Bo has had since he's been at the helm. Look at all the programs who are doing well...they get coaches and keep them there for a long time. Granted that his brother got a better job offer but still...we need to develop consistency in our coaching before we can expect to get consistency anywhere else in our program. It all starts at the top!

  10. Apparently Wisconsin has a redshirt freshman that had 112 yards on only 8 carries. I know it was only UTEP but did anyone watch the game? Is the guy that good, or was UTEP just folding at the end of the game. Wiscy coach Beilema says he is not "overly concerned" if Ball can't return by Saturday. Is this guy just arrogant or are their back up RB's that good?

Melvin Gordon was the redshirt freshman's name. They ran him on the sweep a lot...apparently they run him motion quite frequently just to give the defense a different look. Definitely somebody to keep an eye on. I think a big thing for our defense will be "staying home" on plays. Their offensive line is not that great and as long as we don't overrun plays or cue too much on the run, giving up a big play action pass that they like to do often...I think we'll be ok.

  11. I hope we just take our time, study lots of film and really prepare for the game. I still have visions of that game between us and Texas. How we got overly excited about that game and we all know how that turned out! Play OUR game. Take care of OUR plays. (But I do hope we beat the crap out of them!! ;) GO BIG RED!!!

AGREEEEEED...I was at that game and it was AWFUL. We couldn't catch ANYTHING and should've killed them. Lets just play our game...run our offense like we know we can...and let the Blackshirts step up!

  12. Hey guys! I'll be having a tailgate outside the stadium and would love to have you join! I'm not sure exactly where around the stadium we'll be but we'll be there early so just email me early in the day and I'll hit you back! malinebrett@gmail.com. Also wondering if HuskerBob is going to be tailgating?! Had a blast with him at the last two Holiday Bowls down in San Diego

  13. i live in north hollywood...lived in long beach before this. i've been going to husker bars for the past 3-4 years to watch games and can make a pretty good estimated guess that we're gonna have 1/3 of the stadium colored red...there's more UCLA fans than you'd think and everyone that has season tickets will come to the game hoping to see an upset. ESPECIALLY after their offense had such a great showing last week compared to the entirety of last year. at any rate, i can't WAIT for saturday to get here!

  14. I'm probably most happy with our defense. We seemed to solve things at halftime and tighten up the run coverage in the second half. It seemed to be the opposite last year, where we would get out to an early lead and then seem to be clinging on to it in the second half as the opposing team's offense figured out and wore our defense down. Martinez had a great game...his throwing mechanics are better and he is much more confident in the pocket. However, I'm gonna play the devil's advocate and say this...we won't really know about Taylor until the Badgers come to Lincoln. That being said, I hope Rex is going to be ok...any knee injury is worry-some but I'm pretty happy with Game 1. Can't wait to go to the game out here in L.A. next week! GBR!
