  1. I don't think Bo should have been kept, but I am happy that YSU has done so well this year. They have had an amazing run in the playoffs.

That's how I feel. He wasn't the guy for Nebraska, but I'm still glad he's found success.

I agree with the OP. I would also like to see us get back to controlling the LOS and having a power run game and speedy nasty D. There hasn't been a time ever that I didn't want that. Unfortunately, Pederson, Osborne, Eichorst, Callahan, Pelini and Riley haven't had the same desires. I haven't much enjoyed Nebraska football for quite awhile because of the alternate bs they've tried to go with instead. It is what it is at this point. When they make the next coaching change, maybe we'll get what we want. These should be the criteria for any coach that is selected. I could care less about getting the next "hot" coach if those aren't his priorities. Tired of getting prison raped in the trenches and not knowing how to get a first down when it's 3rd and 2 or 3 or 4. The pink lockerroom Iowa has for visiting teams has been way too fitting for us.

This is all reason why Dave Rimmington or whoever "insert NU dominant player with admin exp here" that should be the AD. Now that Pearlman is gone, when Eichorst leaves, NU can get back to that. Question is, who is THAT guy as a coach who takes NU back to that style of offense?

I think that answer is Troy Calhoun.

I would love to see that. I remember watching one of their games last year where the defense was keying on the FB dive, so in the second half they ran all the dive/options plays between guard and tackle instead of right up the middle and the defense had no answer. Gotta love a coach that can and will adjust the entire base of on offense to get the upper hand.

  3. Can't say that I've given up, but last night was VERY discouraging. A 62-3 beat down isn't just a fluke and doesn't just happen out of nowhere.

It isn't just the talent gap that allowed the Buckeyes to dominate last night. Urban Meyer and other successful coaches' teams capitalize when handed a gift. When they get a turnover they're ready to score and a field goal is an after thought. On the other hand when OSU muffed a punt and we got the ball deep in their territory we didn't capitalize and make them pay. I don't know if he coaches those types of killer instincts, looks for that in recruits, or a mixture of the two, but the Huskers have lacked it for quite a while.

I don't think Michigan states system is one to emulate if NU wants to win championships.

Also, at HC, Michigan state has one of the best defensive minds and overall HC ability in the country. NU can't claim the same.

Anyway, I love the triple option as a significant component of an offense, especially an "under talented" offense. I know a lot of the young (28 or younger) have no love for it. That's fine.

How can anyone have love for it? Sure it worked great back in the 90s. How has it worked out for GA tech

Nebraska and Dr. Tom didn't run a triple option offense if that's what you're referencing. You do bring up a good point about Georgia Tech though. They have had some success like going 11-3 and winning the Orange Bowl in 2014, but this year they went 3-9. I'm surprised that Paul Johnson hasn't tried to tweak his offense a little more since he's no longer at a service academy. I guess it's what he knows and he's going to stick with it.

Special teams won this game for Bama. Call it luck, but the onside kick and TD kick return is the difference on a night when I think they were outplayed.

Big plays in general. TDs of 50, 53, 51 and 95 yards plus another 63 yard play to set up first and goal and lead to a TD.

For sure, Howard had five catches for 208 yards. Not a bad day at the office for a TE.

Feeling a lot less impressed with our win over Sparty at the moment... :hmmph

You really thought that MSU was that good? They are good, but they aren't a dominant team. That's actually is WHY we beat them.

I didn't think they were elite, but I did think they were good enough to at least put up a fight last night.
