  1. So we are 3rd...thats not bad at all. Just curious where we would be ranked in other conferences...i saw a similiar thread on another site that had us 8th in the SEC over last 5 years. We were 9th this year to the SEC according to Rivals.

Wish we were in the SEC instead of Big2/3...We would have a hard time but i like watching tough games not Indiana and such.

I understand why SEC teams schedule some creampuffs...they play by far in the toughest conference.

Just curious...a lot of fans say Bo is great and he's done great since he has been here. But what if we had been in the SEC and dropped a couple more games per year and maybe 3 more games in one of the years...Would Bo still be a good coach??

  2. It's talent if you ask me. We have quite a bit of it in certain spots, quite a lack of it in others. A lot of solid players, but top-bottom, starters, depth, we don't have the kind of elite talent that puts us in the conversation with the elite teams of the country. Which we need, if we want to perform like that.

This all goes back to recruiting misses and lackluster effort in Bo's first few years. These past few seasons we've graduated our core of talented 2007 guys, then lost Dennard and Lavonte and Crick. 2010 was a year where we had the talent set up for a big run at things. We've been in transition since, and it doesn't help that not enough has been waiting in the wings to make it happen. Still waiting on that D-line. Good, solid, hard-working guys like Compton, but name one national-level star on that defense. Name two. You start to see why we're in trouble.

Gosh, I really thought we might win only 8 games this year. We're looking at 11. Yes, we've been exposed, but I do think we probably squeezed a near-best-case "win" # for the year out of this team.

I'm sorry friend, but the no talent line is a complete cop-out. Even freaking Purdue, who we can all agree is much less talented, fared better than we did yesterday. If it's all "talent", then howcome this same "talent" beat this same Wisc team in Lincoln earlier this year? Cause it's not talent, it's the craptacular coaching.

When we beat Wisconsin early in the year it was because of bo's coaching. We lost championship game due to lack of players. :dunno

  3. Nebraska by 17....Michigan is not that good....Benard is getting wore down and i think its circled back around on the husker clock to where its on the "Has good game".

Holy sh#t. Check out Pimple with the posi-talk.

What is your pick on the game?

  4. I hope Bama loses at some point, that way our 1993-1997 greatest run ever would remain in-tact, because let's face it, it's facing a challenge right now.

Bama lost as many games in one season as we did in that whole 5 years.

    Nope.

I agree with you. And last year they didnt even win their division, much less conference. I'm saying on a national perceiving level. If Alabama wins the National Title this year, it will be deemed the greatest 5 year run in ever in College Football. Mark it. Book it.

I am really wanting Bama to lose also but Alabama will pass the huskers if they win this year. Many are saying its harder to win now cause of having to win more games...win a conference and a conference championship game and the fact that its the top 2 teams playing in the title game. Not to mention Alabama did it in the best conference ever which is hard to argue since they have won the title with 5 different teams in the BCS and the last 20 in a row. (i know ithasnot been 20 but it seems like it). I'm ready for the SEC to crash but looking at the recruitingand they are flat out dominating that area also. Hate bama and Florida...thought i got rid of Florida...something really has to give but i'm afraid the Big10 is going to be like the ACC for the next 12 years. I think its up to the PAC or Big 12....Roll on Oregon!!!

  5. I should mention that as a Husker fan, I would rather the Huskers not play an SEC team in the bowl. Mississippi State or Georgia would be a rough, rough opponent for the Huskers. All those teams are so disciplined and well coached. And physical. I think more than the Huskers could readily handle.

So we dont want to play good teams cause we are afraid of losing?? i see...maybe we could try for the toilet bowl and play the 3rd best sunbelt team, plus it might gives us another 10 win season that we can boast about.

  6. Ohio state record is a joke. There non conference schedule is Miami(the Ohio not Florida) used to play Youngstown st, one more cream puff and one tough non conference game.

Starting 4-0 every year will do wonders for your 10yr record.

Sounds like nebraska's schedule Lol...Wyoming, a lower division school, one more creampuff and one sometimes tough noncon opponent game. And your right it works wonders on winning 9-10 games a year. It also helps keep coaches their jobs, what if we had played a middle pack or higher SEC team instead of Ark St...S.miss or another lower division team this year? We would have lost thats what and would be 4-3 right now about ready to melt down with Bo on life support.

You're kidding right? Here are the best non conference foes from the past 10 years

    Nebraska

    #25 Penn State(2002)

    Unranked Penn State(2003)

    Unranked Pitt(2004)

    Unranked Pitt(2005)

    #4 USC(2006)

    #1USC(2007)

    Unranked VaTech(2008)

    #13 VaTech(2009)

    Unranked UDub(2010)

    Unranked UDub(2011)

    #22 UCLA(2012)

    OSU

    #10 Wazzou(2002)

    #17 UDub(2003)

    Unranked NCST(2004)

    #2 Texas(2005)

    #2 Texas(2006)

    Unranked UDub(2007)

    #1 USC(2008)

    #3 USC(2009)

    #12 Miami of Florida(2010)

    Unranked Miami of Florida(2011)

    Unranked Berkeley(2012)

What were the teams ranked when we and you initially scheduled them. So heh.

I only know about ours and USC and UCLA and Washington were unranked...either way OSU has played a tougher noncon with more big names.

  8. In 09 when we lost to Texas in the Big 12 title game and they went to the national title game, we didn't go to the Fiesta Bowl just because we lost the conference title game.

UCLA isn't going to the Rose Bowl. Even if Oregon goes to the national title game, and UCLA somehow manages to make and lose the Pac 12 title game, UCLA won't be in the Rose Bowl. If Oregon goes to the national title game the Pac 12 might not even be in the Rose Bowl. You have to be ranked in the top 14 to be picked at large, and I really doubt that will happen, especially with a loss to Oregon in the conference title game. Plus at large bids will be fewer this year since Boise St or Ohio will get one if they get to the top 16, and Notre Dame will also get one if they stay in the top 8.

The 2nd place PAC team will go to the Rose bowl if Oregon goes to the title game you can count on it. And so will we after we beat Wisconsin again.

  9. I am confused, how do we play UCLA 3 times in two years. Are you predicting them to win out and win the Pac 12 this year, next year, and we win the Big this or next.

    Neither are likely.

Well we play them twice for sure, and if Oregon plays in the national championship game there is a good chance UCLA will win their division since USC has Kiffen. UCLA dont even have to be the second best PAC team cause Oregon state will probably have a better record but they are in the same division as Oregon so UCLA just has to beat USC.

Watched the USC/Washington game and UCLA would beat that team. Don't underestimate Kiffen...he could take a team of Alabama's defense from last year and Oregons offense and lose 3-4 games.

  10. UCLA made more mistakes and had some pretty bad calls along with them shooting themselves in the foot about 5 times. Just saying they screwed up or got screwed more than us in that game. Yet i always see Husker fans acting like we blew that game....They beat us soundly and should have won by alot more. I think they are going to be like Washington where we play them 3 times in 2 seasons. They looked alot better last time i watched them play. We either go undefeated next year or 11-1 with the loss being to UCLA for the third time in 2 seasons.

  11. I think we end this season 9-3 and win the Big10 championship game over Wisconsin. I think we get lucky and Oregon plays in the national championship....USC has Kiffen so they lose to UCLA and we will play UCLA in the Rose bowl.

Next season is the last season of the one game title. I just think we will have a real hard time winning a national championship where we would have to win 2 games like beat Oregon/LSU and then beat Alabama/Florida. So next season thanks to a very easy looking schedule will be our best shot at the national championship for a long time. To be honest i think UCLA will be our toughest opponent....beat them and i think we have a chance at making a run at the title.

Where am i wrong on this post??

  12. Ok so if we had to play two teams that were in the "top 50" of college programs, you'd be happy?

    you didn't answer my question...

Are the 2 top 50 teams San Jose St and Tulsa along with a sunbelt and a lower division team?

or would it be Georgia and Cincinnati with S.Miss and no lower division??

    Still haven't answered my question...

Yes i did...several posts back. Leave the high school teams off and play 1 low tier...1 mid level like UCLA and 1 top tier team i would be more than happy.

  13. Ok so if we had to play two teams that were in the "top 50" of college programs, you'd be happy?

Why should we feel lucky? So Nebraska is lucky they did not have to play Arkansas state and S.Miss?

So we dont want Nebraska playing anyone that has a small chance at beating us?

  14. So if we were to schedule Oregon, 'Bama, Fla St, and Texas as our non-con's, that would make people STFU?

I think the OP is a prime example of a crapass education system, or he's played too much NCAA11...

Come on why does it have to be one extreme? Do you play NCAA?

Then what would make you happy he who lives under the bridge and eats goats...

I dont freak out if we lose a game or go 8-4, sure i would like 12-0 but thats hard even when teams cheat.

I dont like the lower division games every year. I think 4 noncon games are too many. If the Big10 goes to 9 conference games and then we played 1 low tier...1 mid level like UCLA and 1 top tier team i would be more than happy. The SEC playing so many lower division teams is a joke.

By lower level teams do you mean Arky st. And So Miss, who both were conference champions last year and finished in the top 25? Those low level teams? With schedules made so far in advance we should feel damn lucky we didn't get those two last year! Is that you Seriously? ?

No i mean Idaho State...Sioux Falls...S.Dakota FCS teams.

Would be better if we stopped playing the lower division teams, Arky state is enough.

2 top 50 teams with Arky state in a 3 game noncon would not be bad as it would add someone like Purdue to the schedule.

1 top 50 team with Arky state, S.Miss and a lower division team replacing another conference opponent looks like most SEC schedules which is pretty bad.

When the 12 game seasons started it just added a lower division game to most teams schedule...Lol. So i guess its easier to get 9 wins a season now.

  18. Well, also remember that Michigan was ranked in the Top 10, so you can't fault Bama for that. Last year LSU played Oregon to open the season, and next year they play TCU to open the season. Boise always plays a good team at the beginning. So while I agree that it's necessary to schedule some lower-level competition in order to get some practice in and hopefully avoid injuries, I do think it would be nice to schedule a top-tier opponent once in a while. I think playing Miami and Tennessee in upcoming years will be nice; I am certainly looking forward to the trips to Knoxville and Miami.

We schedule our big boy series 8-10 years out. Nothing we can do if the opponent takes a nose dive.

True....True....i mean UCLA is known for being a big boy. What about future big boys....UCONN?? Maryland??

  19. What, no response? Don't you want to discuss things with us anymore? That's unfriendly.

A guy spends ten years living in Omaha before moving off to Kentucky, then starts a thread to talk about Husker football, the trolling takes a little different turn than he expected, and suddenly we're done talking?

Don't you want to discuss your latest favorite article from the Christian Science Monitor?

Don't you want to talk about how to keep your PC virus free? By the way - you still using XP or did you upgrade?

    C'mon, Chuckles. Let's chat.

No, your too good....your real good. The best i have seen, really every board needs 2 mods like you.

  20. So this is what SEC fans do when they get bored.

Why jealous of the SEC?? Its the best college football conference ever by far!! Dont you like good college football??

I'm not jealous of the SEC. I'm jealous of the cleverness with which you make your point. I'm jealous of the ultra-cool username you came up with. I'm jealous of your Baldessarini Del Mar Deodorant, which smells faintly of bluegrass and desperation. I'm jealous of your willingness to waste your time in a futile effort to troll these boards.

Then why so much hate on the SEC??
