  1. No offense, but I think we'd be extremely lucky and fortunate to do anything better than .500 in our final six games. Also, if you don't think that Colter will see quite a bit of playing time at QB against us, you are fooling yourself. They'd be idiots not to play him at QB against us.

  2. Fantastic? By whose standards? The highest we reached was I believe #21. As of now, we are not ranked in the Top 25 in neither rivals nor scout's Top 25 recruiting rankings. Just because we were getting a bunch of recruits doesn't necessarily mean they were quality recruits. We need more 4-stars and less 3-stars. And yes, for the most part, stars do matter -- just ask LSU and Alabama and the like.

  3. My name is HuskerShark, and I approve this message.

Taylor had a really rough game, and a lot of this loss can be put on his shoulders, but I still want him as our QB.

If I thought we had a better option I'd disagree with you.

    this.

  4. Say what you want about Pelini, but the national perception of him is that he's a hothead who verbally abuses his players. I hate to say that, but it's true.

...and you know this how. The negativity in your posts make me want to throw up and most of them are just plain silly. Take your nickle and go buy a stick of gum.

The truth hurts, pal. Bo does not have a good national rep at all. I live in Louisiana and Bo coached at LSU, won a championship with them, and all of their fans think he's crazy and has a terrible temper. When I lived elsewhere they felt the same way.

Not your pal, ever. My tailgate has one standing rule, "No trolls allowed."

OK, well, then you're simply in denial, and beyond help. Go ahead and do some research, and see what you find. In the game where Bo went to the hospital, on several message boards and blogs and twitters and whatnot, the general consensus was, "It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy; karma is a bitch." And check my other posts; I'm well-respected and far from being a troll. Voicing well-warranted criticism does not make one a troll. I actually like Bo, I just don't think he's cut out to be a head coach, at least not at this level, due to his lack of recruiting ability.

  5. One has to only look at Tom Osborne's poll finishes in his first years as a Nebraska head coach to realize we are not even talking about the same zip code of expectations when we refer to Bo's 9 or 10 win seasons thus far.

I agree with The Dude; on the flip side, I don't think you have to be a total, unmitigated disaster to merit firing. In this case I just think we were poorly set up for this season due in fair measure to Bo's past mistakes recruiting, since turned around. If Bo can continue turning that around, he should have more time to show he can recover from it, almost regardless of how this season turns out.

That's where we differ -- I really haven't seen much progress at all in recruiting during the 5 years Bo has been here. Still barely crack the Top 25 in recruiting each year, and many of the top recruits in the classes leave for one reason or another. Until we can consistently land Top 10 recruiting classes we will never return to prominence.

And yes, OSU is a mediocre, above-average team. They may be the best team in the B1G, but that's not saying much.

  9. But seriously though...things aren't that bad.

It's really all about next season and our slack conference schedule.

And ponies. It's also about ponies.

it's not that things aren't that bad...that's not what were mad/frustrated about...we can still have a "good" year by definition, and finish with 8 or 9 wins...it's the fact that we cannot get over the hump of losing to a team we shouldn't and getting whipped on the road against a similar ranked team. It is so disheartening to the fans when we get so amped up for the season because husker football is all we have, and we have extremely high expectations, but there needs to be light at the end of the tunnel, and that doesn't necessarily mean natty champ, it just means progress and getting better, which has not happened in the past 5 years. I like Bo and he needs time, but it's scary because if this trend continues for the next few years and then he has a 6-6 or 5-7 year against a powerful B1G at the time, it could be his last string....I will say the whole fire Bo crowd thing is crazy....It will all be silenced next year when our schedule sets us up for an easy 10 or 11 regular season wins and then a B1G championship game and bowl game...we could go 12-2 because of the schedule but then i worry everyone will still be bitching about it not being good enough because of the schedule. who knows, who cares, life goes on, there is football every year, and we will always be in good not great category. We moan and groan but imagine if you lived in a state or cheered for a school that gets excited to make a bowl game...we need to be fortunate we have a team almost always in the top 25 year in and year out.

Since when is 8 wins considered a "good" season?? I remember when 9 wins was considered a BAD year. And no, I refuse to feel "fortunate" that we have team that "almost always" finishes in the Top 25 every year. That is bullsh#t. Those standards suck. We should be competing for conference championships and BCS bowls on a regular basis, nothing less.

  10. Anyone who thinks Bo does not have a bad national image is in denial. I live out of state, and every single person I talk to here think he's a hothead and an abusive coach. The screaming beatdown of TM is the image that people have of him. Sorry but it's true.

  11. Reality is that the top high school kids are not going to come to NU and play for Bo Pelini, his national image is not good. I think the last 2 recruiting classes are testiment to that. People say stars don't matter, look at Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc., good recruiting classes, Top 10 football programs...............just saying
