  1. Yes TMart is talented, fast, and has improved his passing, but look at Wisc's QB--nothing special, but did not turn the ball over. Wisc used its other playmakers (wildcat RB, Ball, abbederris) so the QB just had to not screw up. With us, TMart's regular fumbles hold the rest of our offense hostage. Yes it's exhilirating to watch him run for an 80 yard touchdown every several games, but it's not worth the price of fumbling 2 or three times EVERY SINGLE GAME

  2.

This is the telling thing for me. Nebraska gets 20 points down, 30 points down, 40 points down, and they change nothing. They run the same offensive plays, they use the same personnel, they use the same schemes. Nebraska didn't try anything different at all.

Yes that was a sight to behold--we're down by several light-years, and we come out with an offense that looks like it's trying to burn the clock

  3. Not that this disaster was TMart's fault, but no successful program can continue to give away 2-3 turnovers a game to the other team and expect to be a top program. At this point I would be SHOCKED to see a game with no Martinez fumbles. I'm glad his passing mechanics have improved, but if he can't stop the incesssant fumbling then put him at WR and bring start the Armstrong Era.

Because we have a guarantee that Tommy is better at holding onto the football than Taylor.

Guarantee?? How about the odds that not a single player in the country fumbles more than Tmart for three years in a row? Yeah I'd take the "chance" that armstrong falls into the category of...everyone other than TMart...in his ability to hold on to the ball.

  4. If Papuchis is just "Bo's play signaller" as people on here claim, then get rid of him and hire a GA for 75,000 a year to signal plays. Do you really think Papuchis is getting paid 6 figures to signal plays that come into his headset??

Ok. I hear'ya. Now let's flip. If Beck's 100% responsible for the offense. and Papuchis is 100% responsible for the defense, then let's fire Bo and hire a GA for 75,000 a year to sit in the big chair.

Obviously Papuchis's responsibilies are more than just signaling. But Bo is the ultimate brain behind the defense.

Most teams have a full time OC and full time DC. The HC doesn't just have a head coaching title and then act like a coordinator behind the curtain. Are you saying bobby bowden was an expendable body during FSU's rise to greatness?

Bo is the "ultimate brain" behind everything, not just the defense. HE is the one that wanted a spread-option offense when he came to NU, not the West-Coast stuff that Callahan had. He was willing to continue it his first year because that's what his offensive returning starters including Joe Ganz were used to.

HE is the one that so desperately wanted a dual-threat QB, that he forced TMart into the starting role from Martinez's redshirt freshman year day 1.

HE is the one that fired Shawn Watson.

So Bo is NOT just a phantom D-coordinator. He oversees the whole operation, which is what head coaches do. The fact that he is a previous D-coordinator doesn't mean he's still the D-coordinator now. Papuchis should be fired.

Exactly. I mean look at Michigan. Established DC and OC and Hoke walks around without a headset for half the game. Result: 8-4...oops.

So you chose Michigan as your example, instead of say, Ohio St, Bama, LSU, Oklahoma, etc? Yep, best not to let facts get in the way of a good argument.

  7. Actually Bo said (i dont believe it becuase there is no way) they did nothing we didnt prepare for. Wiscy emptied the book. Not just the jet sweep, but numerous trickerations that got them the lead they needed.

Why don't we empty the book once in a while? We've got guys all over that field with talent. We've got guys playing Receiver that can throw the ball. If you're getting your ass kicked why not throw in a trick play or two to get some momentum or at least give them something to watch for to slow them down on the pass rush.

No kidding! Where we trying to attempt the biggest comeback ever in the third quarter, or were we trying to bore the audience enough to change the channel?? We come out of the half with more zone read, Taylor scramble crap?

  8. Yes, that's been rumored for a while now (Petersen to Arkansas). If Arkansas can get him, u really expect me to believe our program can't???

I agree with you...we could get him if we want. You go out and get the best coach. Many thought that Petersen was not attainable...I was not one of them.

If you shoot low, you get what you deserve. Like I said earlier, fans at Bama could have said "how are we gonna get anyone good when we keep cycling through coaches? Remember all the stability we had when Bear Bryant was here? We need to give a coach time like Bryant had!". No, instead of wringing their hands about how making a change might "damage the program", they realize their program was already mediocre at best and went out and threw a TON of money at a master coach.

  9. There are a number of losses that could be considered worse than this. It might not feel that way, but that's because we were an awful football team with no expectations and had been resigned to the fact of being blownout. That, in my eyes, is worse than underperforming with the expectation of great achievement.

Really?? So you're saying a 1-10 Colorado team losing by 50 points is better than a #12 10-2, Big 10 division champion team getting their doors blown off on national TV by a so-so, unranked team that they were favored to win, and are more talented than on offense?? I can't understand how the life of me how that's better.

It means we have expectations. It means we are in a better place as a program. Would you rather be a 1-10 team being blownout by 50 and being okay with it, or would you rather be a nationally ranked team being blown out and getting pissed about it?

The original point was not comparing programs, it was that this is the worst loss in our history----you said no, because previous losses when we didn't expect to win (like Colo this year) were worse.

  10. it just looked like our D was fooled so many times on misdirection. Was Eric Martin there??? No one filled any gaps tonight at all.

Not only were they fooled, they also looked like fools with all the last-second signaling to each other, and jumping around, and trying to line up their neighbor. Looked like a freakin circus. Is that top-notch defensive coaching?

  11. I know it makes no difference at all, but I have a question, from a scheme stand point.

One guy doesn't make a 40 point difference, but by not having Baker play really effect our alignment?

Now, Baker hasn't had a great year, and we would have lost this game with or without him. My question is..... Do any of you think that we were so worried about Wiscy pounding the ball between the tackles at Rome ( who can't get off a block to save his soul) and Merideth (who is undersized at DT), that we may have committed our LB to "watch", "stunt", or help protect the middle.

It just seemed like sooooo many times, Wiscy was able to get the edge and everyone was pursuing at HORRIBLE angles...or, no one was even in the area. I tend to think that all the talk this week was about how Nebraska needed to stop the power game, and Wiscy used that to their advantage by attacking the edges after we over-committed to the middle.......then, of course, once we moved around to help protect the edge, they exploited the main concern, which was the middle.

Hell, I don't know... I just like to try to find reasons. Must be the coach in me.... It just seemed like are pursuit from inside-out were at very bad angles..... they couldn't have been that much faster could they?

I think yes the lack of Baker, and the fact that our D-line has been mostly pathetic all year with rare exceptions, made Papuchis/Bo obsessed with stopping the up the gut runs. That worked great in Lincoln in the comeback, so they figured hey, let's just do that again. It's not like Wisc has any other plays other than between the tackles with Ball and play action passes, right? All night every time Wisconsin ran to the sideline, the D looked like it was a play that came from outer space...even when Wisc had just run it two plays earlier. That's on Papuchis and this coaching staff. They had a pathetic defensive gameplan, had NO anticipation that Wisconsin would do anything other than run up the gut, and had NO way to adjust. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic, coaching job.
