Haven’t went through the whole thread so if it was posted earlier I apologize. All season people have said something has been off with Martinez and they are right from what little I’ve been able to gather. It sounds like he played the whole season with a bum shoulder which required surgery early this week to repair. This would explain quite a bit in both the running and passing game issues. I’m all for a open QB competition this spring but don’t be surprised if a healthy Martinez wins the job.

He stuck to his script, he had a plan and even if it worked or didn't work he was sticking to his script.
I liked quite a bit of Beck’s offense what always drove me crazy was his penchant for taking shots at the opponents 40 yard line and putting us behind the sticks to either stall drives or settle for long field goals.

I could care less if these guys smoke pot. But. Stop. Getting. Caught!
Respectfully disagree. These guys know the rules and what’s expected of them. At present pot is not legal in Nebraska, so don’t do it.

At this point I'd be happy with a coach that ran a cohesive offense.
This has been my biggest problem with Miles for several years. Talent is much improved but the offense is still a dumpster fire.

No way negotiating. Maybe gauging interest. And Altman would be a meh move
Not what I’m hearing. Pretty good source.

I hear we are in negotiations with a Oregon coach but it’s not McKenna.

I hear Wilber has turned out a pretty good coach.

He just seems disinterested now. IMO if we’re still in it it’s because this is a big troll job where he knows he’s coming here but wanted to shock everyone for his own entertainment.
Sure seems like we have really backed off recruiting Juco OLBer’s. Maybe we are setting better with Summerall then we think.

That would, in fact, be shocking. He dropped us and is down to UF and Miami.
When did this happen? OWH still has us in the mix as of this morning.

Frost must feel very confident on how we sit with a bunch of the higher rated players considering the way we have backed off a bunch of these Juco kids. Would not be surprised to see Summerall sign with Huskers tomorrow.

I'm not opposed to taking projects. Some guys are late bloomers and most likely will move better. I'm definitely tired of seeing guys fire out of their stance with two left feet but if we are gonna make a jump to contend on the national level it starts up front. Personally id rather see a few more players that talent evaluators have identified as an elite player. Playing in a spread is gonna help disguise some weak spots but that's one area you cant hide once we take that next step to compete for the conference or on the national level. Look at those Oregon teams during the Chip Kelly era.
2018 1ST ROUND PICKS
Quenton Nelson , OL Notre Dame 4 Stars 61 Overall (2014)
Billy Price , OL Ohio State 4 Stars 211Overall (2013)
Isaiah Wynn , OL Georgia 4 Stars 110 Overall (2014)
Frank Ragnow , OL Arkansas 4 Stars 324 Overall (2014)
Kolton Miller , OL UCLA 3 Stars 371 Overall (2014)
I think Wisconsin’s model for recruiting and developing linemen is more realistic. I’d love to land tons of 4 and 5 star linemen but I don’t think it’s going to happen on a consistent basis.

I think having both of his parents being coaches has been one of the biggest factors in his success. He probably understand more about playing football by the age of ten then most players in college and he has grown from there.

Just a guess...to "find" this document or to find out who to make the scapegoat.
Still doesn’t add up. Zack Smith says he was called back from recruiting by AD to address the charges. Where Smith says he was confronted by Meyer wanting to know what was going on and then telling him if he was abusing his wife he would be fired. At the same time Urban is telling us he reported the 2015 incident. Why would he have to ask Smith what was going on?

I think that since Meyer said he DID report it that they will keep him...I think it will work out for him now UNLESS there are major protests on campus.
If he reported the abuse it would be documented so why would they need to put him on paid leave?

Listen, if Frost’s dream job was Nebraska he should’ve been monitoring situations like this closely a year ago.....
I think Frost had better things to do than worry about what was going on here. If he was worried about this job then he wasn’t giving UCF his best and that is not Scott Frost at all.

'93 Oklahoma game is still the winner for me. Of course, I was sitting in the top of the west balcony with only one seat behind me from the very end of the stadium. That seat would now have the west stadium structure behind it so it wouldn't be exposed quite like it was.
I was at that game also. It was so cold our beer was freezing. We sat in first row of east balcony. Restrooms were froze up so we had to walk to ground floor south end of east stadium which wasn’t to handy. Think it was -10 at kickoff with 40 mph winds.

Curious what system you think Alabama is running? Running the ball 66% of the time this year and have always been a power run team.

This is exactly why we can't have nice things anymore. Tell me again; how long did it take T. Osborne to win a national championship after inheriting that team and talent from Bob D.? More than 3 years, if I remember correctly.
Again, this is why we can't have nice things, and it's why we won't have nice things in the future.
Except that T O actually won football games. Something Riley hasn't done his entire career.

I like Riley as a person and hope he succeeds but I do not believe that his offensive philosophy will produce consistent winning at Nebraska or anywhere else in college football. And no I'm not saying we have to go back to Osbornes offense but I'd take it over Rileys.

Because NFL caliber quarterbacks don't grow on trees. About 1% actually are even considered by NFL teams. So building your entire offense around one player isn't a recipe for continued success. This article should scare Husker fans to death. Klatt basically says that when Riley has a NFL caliber QB he jumps up and wins some games. When he doesn't.... it's back to .500 football. I pray that Diaco can turn the defense around or I'm afraid Klatt is right.
Why would we be scared - if Lee produces as an NFL caliber QB the next 3 recruiting classes will have an NFL caliber recruit coming to Nebraska. Riley had a hard time selling top QB's to OSU - that won't be the case here if Lee performs well.
so 1.26 QB's are only considered by the NFL each year? - i thought i saw somewhere that several were drafted last year..... must have been a dream.
Every team is built around the QB he touches the ball every play - does MR run some offense that no other team in the country runs?
Take the number of college QB's in the country in all divisions against how many get drafted. Not that hard.

That's not what the article says at all. The quotes are that Tanner Lee is a good fit. Says that when osu had a good fit at qb the production went up. The NFL quality thing isn't mentioned anywhere. This article should scare Husker fans to death. Klatt basically says that when Riley has a NFL caliber QB he jumps up and wins some games. When he doesn't.... it's back to .500 football. I pray that Diaco can turn the defense around or I'm afraid Klatt is right.
So what's a good fit? He recruited QB's to run his offense every year but only had decent teams when he had guys that were considered NFL caliber signal callers.
Have you guys ever wondered why teams like USC, Miami, and Georgia hare so up and down? It's because finding elite QB's to run their offense is a crap shoot at best.

No kidding! Where do you coach again? Maybe Instead of whining about a season that is over you could show some patience.
