  1. I'm guessing his spot wound be center with his height? Could he even play guard? Just wondering...

I always thought the skyscrapers were typically tackles? So unless I am wrong, which is possible, I would think he could play guard. I would like to see him play center so our other OL recruits can play guard however.

  2. This is one of those commits that isn't a big time recruit right now but his athletic ability gives him a high ceiling and at the least the ability to contribute on special teams (imagine that speed as a gunner). With a class as big as this one is likely to be, I really like taking ability like this.

  3. And yet, in four out of the last five seasons, Taylor and Tommy put up equal or better passing efficiency numbers than OSU's NFL QB factory.

I am hopeful that access to better talents at NU, like this kid hopefully (and especially in supporting cast), will allow Riley and company to improve their QB results. I just find the bashing of the old staff unnecessary and strange given the clear track records.

I see what you are saying. I just disagree haha but I am not trying to bash the old staff, I was actually a huge fan of the old staff.

  4. I would take a look at the passing efficiency statistics for the two staffs over recent years before slamming the old staff for their QB coaching. That said, I am excited to see what the new guys can do with the talent we have on hand. I am especially happy to see that they appear to be putting some value on having a quarterback with some athleticism. This kid looks like a good prospect for a pass first QB that can still hurt you with his feet.

I would not recommend trying to argue that the previous staffs were good developers of QBs. We haven't had a legitimate arm at Nebraska in years (could be recruiting or coaching). This isn't saying they haven't been capable, but they have not been anywhere near an NFL potential talent IMO.

I am also very excited about these two recruits and feared that this new staff would go completely away from athletic QBs. It will be fun to watch them develop.

  5. Interview with the Davis twins, http://nebraska.scout.com/3/Chat.html'>link. Here are two quotes (the rest is not that interesting):

Coach Riley is laid back and chilled. Mike Riley is more personable and easier to talk to. Coach Pelini was a good guy, but sort of intimidating when you talked to him.

Coach Wise at KU said would you rather be a big fish at a small pond or a small fish at a big pond. Carlos said, I would rather be a big fish at a big pond.

    That second quote is hilarious!

  6.

If he goes to OSU with the log jam of QBs there, I have to wonder what he's thinking.....

It has to be appealing that that they were able to develop a 3rd string QB into a potential first round draft pick without any prior game experience. That made it glaringly obvious how poor our old staff developed QBs. We also don't want the future leader of our team to be afraid of competition.

OK....I read a lot on the internet and listen to one hell of a lot of sports radio, I haven't heard or read anyone say he was going to be a first round pick.

Same. I have heard that it wouldn't be surprising if a team took a gamble on him in the 4th or 5th but that more than likely he is a 6th or 7th (although you cannot disregard the stock that teams put into media coverage when drafting... Or so it seems.).
