Heard from a buddy that recruits kc. Maybe he is wrong. I hope so,

Not knocking your buddy, but if they publicly did it (awards ceremony was on 12/9), I feel like we would have heard. Now, if they made a comment in passing... who knows.

Maybe this is going off the report that one of them said we were no longer in the running for the twins. Then Riley met with them and they "recommitted."

  2. Their offers are the most important. You can't see that? Everything else is subjective. He has a good first step.. He is built like an ox.. Ect. Offers are concrete, the better the offers the better the player in my opinion. I think it should be that way. I disagree completely with what you said. That's not the only part in ranking a kid, obviously there are a lot to it, but it should weigh heavily.

I can definitely see this reasoning

  3. Also keep in mind that unless a kid goes to all the big camps (like Nike) they will tend to rate lower. That was what happened with Collins, he could not afford to pay for the camps, so his rating stayed lower than it should have been. Its foolish to think the recruiting services watch film on every highschool player.

If they don't watch film then they shouldn't rate them... And that is what they do. They watch film on recruits that they think will be big targets, rate them, and leave the unwatched players unranked for the time being. Then they watch and rate other players as they become targeted. So they watched Neal's film and gave him an 84 rating. Then the offers from Oklahoma and Oregon come in and he is an 89.

Is Kaz 100% gone from NU? I would think he is but I haven't heard anything lately

DL is one of the strongest position groups, and one where true growth of the players have occurred. Add in the fact that Kaz is solid recruiting, I would say Riley should take a long look at Kaz before moving on.

Considering Kaz was with Bo at the meeting, I think we know where his loyalty lies.
Yeah, I thought of that, but Kaz is his own man whose body of work at Nebraska deserves its own evaluation. We are obviously not close enough to the situation to know if Kaz off the field would be a good fit for the program going forward, but he has my vote, in terms, of his recruiting ability, player development, and player performance.
I like Kaz too and wouldn't mind him staying. However I think a lot of people could look good coaching: 2 future top 10 picks (RG and Collins), another future NFL DT (VV) and probably a guy that finds a himself a spot in the NFL (McMullen). Just sayin.
Again, with three of those four guys, it goes back to a chicken and egg argument. Did they succeed because they were that naturally talented, or did Kaz coach it out of them?
    Good point.

according to Joe Keelz's tweet, Kaz is gone.

  5. Had his overall rating bumped to an 89 on 247. I think it is stupid that these scouting companies adjust ratings based on who is offering them... They put more weight into who is recruiting them for rankings than the film a player has. Do your jobs! Why is a Nebraska offer worthy of a 84 rating and once Oregon and Oklahoma offer he is an 89? Dumb.

I asked Michael Bruntz this question on Twitter and he said "Going back through a lot of senior film right now." So the first time through they rated the kid as a low/mid three star (at the same level as a Lundie) and this time through they magically see him as nearly a 4 star and the third best recruit in our class behind Eric Lee and Gaylord? I am not buying that.

Bussey has the tools to be a stud and would be a stud in Rileys offense. However at the RB position we have a lot of young talent on our roster.

This I agree with. Bussey would be most talented back on our roster. We will be fine without him though. Wilbon was a plan b or c that decommitted from vandy right? Bussey is and has always been our only guy and we have fended off the wolves until right up until signing day. Too bad we couldn't hold the sec off any longer. Kid will be special.

Statements like this just make me shake my head.

Yes, in HS it seems like he would be an absolute stud. However, we have at least 2-3 players at that position on the team right now that were the same way. One was the best RB in the state of California. The other was one of the top 2 RBs in the state of Texas.

We have very very good talent on this team right now. Saying a kid who hasn't even stepped foot on campus yet is clearly better than them is a stretch. He would be a very nice addition that I hope we get. That's as far as it goes.

. He might not be the best back on our roster from day 1. But he is a 10.4 100m kid who is 5'8 200. That is freakish speed that we don't have on out team. Newby is almost that fast, but not nearly as strong. Taylor and cross are stronger but not nearly as explosive. He has all the tools and reminds me of a lot of Abdullah. He could be a complete back in any offense. Newby needs a spread and Taylor and cross would prob prefer a offense with a fullback. Just my assessment of his ability projecting to the next level.

Watching his film, he even cuts like Abdullah. Kind of a cool similarity. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that Taylor was a blend of power and speed (faster than cross/stronger than newby). And Taylor was the offensive scout team MVP last year, which should point to his potential.

Watch Newman RB Kendall Bussey's college announcement live at 4:30 p.m. CST Friday http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2014/12/watch_newman_rb_kendall_bussey.html

That seems like something I will avoid at all costs haha Do you all think if he goes elsewhere that we will bring in another RB recruit, give Young a look at RB, or go without a RB in this class? Are there any interesting RBs we could target this year still? If we went without a RB in this class, we would look like a very appealing place for a RB recruit to come in next years class.

My uneducated opinion would be that we let the RB position go this year and focus on OL, DL, and LB

What will Adam Taylor's status be next year? Is it possible for him to still be a redshirt freshman due to injury? I am really unfamiliar with that side of things, but we cant forget he was scout team MVP last year.

  9. Looking for a silver lining here:

At least one player doesn't buy this bullsh#t, and took the initiative to record the conversation in case it went this way, then gave it to the press so Husker fans would know what he was saying/doing with this team.

The person who let them use the room could have put a recorder in there... Totally would have covered the amount he reportedly paid the district! haha

Just out of curiosity, did Clinkscales not end up being as good as we all thought he would be for KSU? I haven't heard anything about him since he flipped his commitment. Looking at our Dt's last year, I would have been shocked if he had actually started for us.

    Well, there's this....

    And this...

That article litteraly clears up just about every question I could have asked! :)

    - Off field issues

    - "reserve lineman"

    - 2 tackles
