  1. Filled out the rest of the bracket just for kicks. The @FauxPelini selection committee did an excellent job with the bracket seeding as the final four ended up with Hoodies, Youngstown OH, Process, and Yelling in the final 4. Process and Yelling advanced to the championship game, shown live tonight on BTN.

  2. There's no race. Abdullah is the starter.

Abdullah will probably be the #1 if healthy starting the season. But I'm hoping to see more sharing carries with him and Cross next fall. Seems to Ron Brown has a habit of keeping riding on his top guy til he wears him out. We rode Rex too hard in '11, and Ameer too much last year, and both were beat down by the end of those years. Spreading the wear and tear on more bodies throughout the year would make good sense.

  3. I guess I'm a believer, probably even a Bo-leiver. Maybe because I don't think like many here that consistantly winning "only" 9 or 10 games is a failure. Somewhere earlier in this thread someone said "I understand there will be ups and downs", well, newsflash, in most places those "downs" are losing seasons, not 4 loss seasons.

  4. It will become pretty obvious if Braylon winds up at Kentucky that Vince was recruiting for Kentucky while on staff at Nebraska. Turning one guy is coincidence. Turning 2 is a pattern....

Convincing a high school recruit to follow you is one thing (and not uncommon), convincing an enrolled, current player to transfer is quite another.

Sow a few seeds of dis-satisfaction in the kids head, then when you take a new job, "Hey young man, these guys aren't givin you the playing time you deserve, come on down to Kentucky and I'll get you on the field."

Marrow Sr is a piece of work.

  5. Why do people hate Harvey so much?

Well I mostly indended the knock to be on Pederson and on the BCS.

But speaking of Perlman, he is the guy responsible for bringing in Pederson, so he owns a big piece of the Callahan debacle. Just having seen him in his press conferences, announcing Pederson, when Solich got axed, then when he had to turn around and fire Pederson, my completely subjective impression of him is that I think the guy is a tool. Not to mention how the cost of attending UNL has gone from expensive to ridiculous during his tenure. My opinion of him wasn't changed after talking to an acquaintance who does have the opportunity to have an informed opinion.

  6. I've always said it's important to experiment! Color is your friend. All-white uniforms need a little pizazz, like that nifty stripe on the leg you kids wore in 2005. That was a very in look for you and you should go for it again! Get rid of dad's uniform, time to spice things up!

Wearing all one color, such as a white pants, white top, white socks and white shoes is overkill. Break it up a little bit. I loved the retrosexual throwback jerseys your boys wore for the 300th sellout. Tres chic, and it really tied into a hot trend. You should go back to that every once in a while.

I would suggest a black turtleneck, but not a mock, for those cold November games. Also, try some black leggings once in a while. Black lengthens the leg and can help those husky linemen with better definition and a sharper look.

I can see Pelini now wearing a red feather boa on the sideline to add color.

  7. When our kids first got cell phones we instructed them to not erase their text history, so that if we wanted to, we could see what was going on. Our instruction was, if you don't want your Mom to see it, then don't text it. We could at any time, and did, ask to see their phone and check the history. I think this taught our kids to think before posting anything electronic. We didn't check often, but ocasionally we did. Is that hovering, I don't think so. it was more of a suprise inspection. Also required passwords to their facebook page, and occasionally checked it, just to make sure it stayed appropriate. Funny thing was, we know another mom who is somewhat of a helicopter, and she would "alert" us of nearly everything status change or post on our kids facebook. She hovered over her kids, PLUS everyones elses.

So I'm somewhere in the middle. Parents who do not let their kids do anything themselves (years ago you should have seen the pine derby cars that 8 year old scouts "made themselves") are hurting the kids. On the other end, parents who don't keep a close eye on their kids aren't doing their job either. I think both types, the helicopter and the distant free range parent, are afraid of the same thing, their kid might feel bad cause they didn't get what they wanted.

  8. Our road red pants are OK. They don't nearly compare to our classic red home unis, and I think the all white look is much more iconic and just a crisper, classier look.

The all white uni's I associate with Texas (just threw up in my mouth a little comparing us to Texas) I can't condone anything which would make us look like those a-holes.

I mean you are probably an average-sized caucasian male so ...

  9. This is just dumb. But here's a caveat, remember that no touchdown for unsportsmanlike conduct that the NCAA enacted a few years ago? How many times has that been used? Furthermore, how many times has it needed to have been used? Hopefully, this goes the same way--

This isn't going to go away like the unsportsmanlike conduct rule. They are already throwing flags for this. This is on top of the 15 yard penalties they are already accessing. The article I referenced earlier said that last year there would have been 99 ejections.

The problem is that they catch some bad shots on defensless players, but also penalize good hits with legal contact like Kenny Bell's hit last year. The calls are already inconsistant, now just with enhanced repercussions.

  10. Just googled it, "The rule would allow for the ejection portion of the penalty to be reviewed through video replay. The replay official must have conclusive evidence that the penalized player didn't intentionally target a defenseless player in order to overturn the call" (from CBS sports).

I keep thinking about Bell's block. He contacted with his shoulder/arm on the opponents collarbone area. But with the call made for targeting, does the video replay conclusively show he did not target? The call was bad in real time, I don't trust that the idiots in stripes would make the right replay call either.
