  1. Knap may have mistakenly used a fake quote about the photographer, but there is still the matter of Mrs. Tweeden stating that "he groped me" while simultaneously admitting that she was not aware of the situation (she was sleeping) until she had seen the photo.  She was basing her assumption that she was groped solely on the photo, according to her own account.

I'm not saying it did or did not happen, but that is an awfully big assumption to make based on that photo, IMO.  Especially when she has repeatedly stated she was groped.  She has talked about being groped on Twitter, on CNN, on The View, on her radio show, etc.

That language is very inflammatory, considering that neither she, nor the media that uses it as a headline, can reasonably assume that anything more than that photo happened.  There is no apparent physical contact in the photo.  She was wearing a flack vest and layers of clothing.  If "groping" actually occurred, why did it not wake her?  Maybe we should all make the assumption that she had been drugged, too?

Again,  The kiss happened, the photo happened.  The photo definitely constitutes some form of harassment, no question.  I just feel like the assumptions and characterizations of "groping" are unfair.  Language matters, and its being used as a weapon here.

Yeah, these pipelines are definitely causing a higher demand for cleanup crews...

Good point!  Myself, I'd much rather have hundreds of thousands of gallons of carcinogenic toxic waste pumped into my drinking water than have to clean up a campsite left by dirty hippies and lazy Indians!  Amirite?

While this picture is rather shocking, and for most famous people would be a serious scandal, I have no faith that it would ever be held against Jr or Trump by the right.

Obviously there are many who would just think it is fine, regardless of context.  There are many who would love this image because they are simply vehemently anti-conservation.  But mostly because FOX News will defend anything Trump and his family does without question, and rationalizes it somehow.  And all the zombies parrot the rhetoric they hear.

A picture of Trump spraying toxic waste in the backyard of a daycare probably wouldn't affect his approval ratings much one way or the other, at this point.

  4. I know it is a little hard to agree with if you are conservation-minded, like myself, but there actually is an argument that can be made for trophy hunting being beneficial for promoting the conservation of these animals. (if done responsibly)  It creates a powerful monetary incentive to keep populations healthy.  Much more money than could have been made through poaching.

With that being said, Trump has not commissioned any study on the subject, or done any research whatsoever.  All he knows is that the NRA opposed the ban, and Obama created the ban.  Those two reasons alone are enough for him to act.

There are all kinds of red flags with regard to these two countries in terms of governmental corruption, and past failure to regulate poaching, etc.  This was the wrong way to "see if it works"

oops, I guess it didn't work after all - all the elephants are dead.  Oh, well.

I 100% believe Leanne Tweeden's story about the unwanted kiss, (and think it is unacceptible), I think the photo constitutes a violation of her rights, as well.  The characterization of "groping" is going into the realm of make-believe inflammatory speculation, IMO.

And this revelation from Melanie Morgan is just plain opportunistic, hypocritical and purposefully inflammatory as well.  Is it true?  I'd like to see a little more corroboration.  Witnesses, phone records, etc.  Her track record in this area is extremely hypocritical:

7 days ago on a conservative talk show railing against Roy Moore accusers "rushing to judgement" and she discredits the victims extensively.

She has also been a loud proponent of Bill O'Reily's through his sexual misconduct issues.

  6. Also keep in mind that this is no ordinary oil-spill.  The tar suspension that flows through these pipes is particularly nasty, and much harder to clean up.  If you want to completely understand what it is that got spilled, here's a description:

    http://americablog.com/2013/06/what-does-a-tar-sand-pipeline-actually-contain-among-other-things-sulphur-arcenic-mercury.html

The "diluted bitumen (tar)" or "dilbit" itself naturally conains sulphur, arsenic, nickel, lead and mercury, among many other heavy metals.

This is diluted with lighter-than-water fluids, like deisel.  The exact mixture is a trade secret :thumbs and likely contains a good amount of BENZENE as well as other toxics.

It's all heated to 150 to 160 degrees Faranheit and forced through the pipe at high-pressure.  This, of course, makes pipe corrosion and ruptures more likely, but is neccessary in order to move the sludge through the pipe.

No big deal.  I'm sure a leak happening near the Ogallala Aquifer will never happen.

The consequence for every kind of unwanted sexual advance cannot be that you lose your job.  We have to have measured, reasonable responses to these things.  Manipulating a stage scene so that you kiss an actress and take a sophomoric picture where you pantomime grabbing her breasts should not be treated the same as rape or pedophilia.

    I agree with this.

As a liberal-leaning person, a fan of SNL, and a fan of Franken,  it's hard for me to look at this without bias.  However, I wish that the fact that Tweeden is a conservative celebrity that is willing to talk mainly to conservative media was not a factor here.

I feel like she could remove the "moral equivalent" argument by simply speaking out against Roy Moore, or showing some solidarity with his accusers.  And yet she has not done that.  Instead she has allowed herself to be used as a moral counterpoint to the Roy Moore situation.  And done so on Hannity, one of the most inflammatory conservative voices.

I'm not trying to minimize her situation, but, really this story has minimized Roy's teenage victims IMHO.

I have worked in the pipeline business for over 10 years and have witnessed more tanker truck spills and train wrecks then I have pipeline leaks.

According to Hazmat, who we work with, there is 10 tanker wrecks and a train wreck to every pipeline leak. Just to give you an idea on gallons. A tanker will haul anywhere from 7800 - 10,000 gallons depending on the product. A train that is fully loaded will carry an average of 250,000 gallons. It still doesn't make it okay but people tend to give pipelines a bad rap when in reality, it is the safest mode of transportation for petroleum products.

The largest pipeline we have is 16" and it can exceed flowrates of 5,000 barrels/hr, that is 210,000 gallons/hr. Our average shutdown time on a possible leak is 7 mins. We would lose on average 24,500 gallons in that time period. It is a far cry from what is lost in tanker and train wrecks.

When Keystone says that they can have the line shutdown in 11 mins, that is probably correct. Every pipeline is required to run spill drills quarterly and it is simulated like a real leak. Government agencies are also apart of these drills and assist on anything that needs adjusted.

The leak up here in SD was isolated in 15 minutes, according to reports.  That is not too far off of the 11 minute number, and yet about 210,000 gallons were released.  According to your numbers, that is roughly the same amount of oil that an ENTIRE TRAIN would carry, dumped in a single point in 15 minutes.

I am pretty sure the Keystone is 36" Diameter.  Much larger than your point of reference.  Seems to make a huge difference in the massive pollution potential, don't you think?

Everyone talks the talk. When we don't win the B1G in '18, '19, and lose a couple games before the end of the '20 season a not insignificant proportion of Husker fans are going to think BM is full of BM. Unfortunately.

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title.

Can we start using a different acronym, like ADBM?  I mean, the guy is going to be around for a while....
