  1. At no point did I have any confidence that we were going to stop Illinois on that last drive. No confidence that anyone was going to step up and make a play, no confidence that Banker was going to make a timely adjustment and create a turnover. That's where we're at now--where giving the other team a chance for a final drive feels like a loss before they even break the first huddle.

  2. I made it known I was a gigantic Riley supporter.

    Honeymoon is over for me.

You CANNOT lose games like this. This is two games out of five already where the coaches have lost games. Not the players, but simply the coaches by just horrendous game management and playcalling.

    This, I guess.

I like Riley a lot and really wanted him to succeed here. The man is a first class individual in every way. But you just can not, can NOT lose games like this--no ifs, ands, or buts. There is absolutely NO REASON why this Husker team is suddenly less talented than the fricking Illini or why Tim Beckman's substitute teacher is suddenly outcoaching us.

I feel like throwing up. That was a pathetic display of football from start to finish. And our defense doesn't seem any better than it did against BYU--only the gross incompetence of Illinois football held it to a 1 point loss.

  3. What happens to these kids - they seem to lose track of the game. Our team should be fired up to win this game. They are flat footed. Standing around scratching buts.

Post game discipline should include not getting to wear all-white uniforms for Minnesota if they don't play with a little more heart to finish this game.

  4. I am incredibly frustrated.

BYU game--chalked it up to a fluke. Miami game--tough draw on the road with new coaches, new scheme.

    But Illinois??

Coach Riley--hopefully you'll read this board at halftime and realize that you can not, CAN NOT, lose to the Illini today. Just can't do it. There is NO way that Illinois has more talent than the Huskers; therefore, no excuse will be acceptable. Read this board, and then go coach the guys to a 4 touchdown win in the second half. You can thank me later in your presser.

  5. Anyone buy from the university and know the section numbers? I'm trying to buy tickets online and want to sit with Husker fans.

It's insane that StubHub just can not seem to find any way to differentiate whether or not listed tickets fall within a visiting team's section. You'd think that would be something that would be important to fans buying tickets to support either team.

  6. Iowa fans talking about fudging attendance numbers. That's rich.

You should do a little investigative history into how your own 4 year streak sellout streak ended between 2003 and 2007. Something about the attendance number at Kinnick always being listed at the exact same number between renovations despite the addition and subtraction of a few hundred seats during 2 different seasons.

Of course, the moment Iowa stopped being any kind of threat to join the upper echelon of college football (I.e., right after they followed up a win over LSU with 18 losses over the next 3 seasons), Iowa fans quickly and predictably lost interest in keeping Kinnick filled.

Meanwhile, we'll continue trucking along here at Nebraska--arguing, moaning, fire-breathing, and yes, cheering. AND supporting our team by showing up on Saturdays--win or lose--the same way we have since the 60s.

In summary, thanks kindly for the interest, Herky. But we'll manage.
