  1. Can we bust these out next year as a throwback?

Great idea! I actually wouldn't mind seeing Nebraska ditch the stripes on the pants for a season. Maybe even bring back the red socks.

Best Husker uni's of ALL TIME!!! I am not a fan of all the striping currently on the uniforms.

  2. I think too much focus is being put on Taylor's injury being something that could prevent him from going to the league. The fumble-itis, as some have briefly mentioned, is a MUCH bigger red flag to NFL GMs than any of his other ailments.

Your body can heal itself pretty well, especially with good rehab, but it's hard to "get good" at protecting the ball.

    We have a winner!

  3. On a tangent:

Heard from a guy who knows TJ well and told a funny story about his time here in Nebraska. Appearntly there was a premier event for the team at the Cornhusker in Lincoln, TJ shows up, already one full season into his Nebraska gig, when he arrives another booster asks him for a cocktail and valet parking thinking he was a staff member of the Cornhusker.

Cultural experiences can really turn people off to places like Nebraska. Nebraska is embarassingly white, I am sure he can feel comfortable in Aggie land at least :(

Are you f'ing kidding me? What's stopping black folks from living here? Excuse me for this being an agricultural state. Last I checked there's no law keeping a colored guy from being a corn farmer. Been to Omaha lately? True handled that comment a lot better than I did obviously. But whatever. sh#t like that pisses me off. Embarrassingly white. Meh.

Go talk to recruits then tell me incidents such as that one do not matter, sorry to hear you took great offense to my observation. Nebraskans do not have to apologize for who they are. I was simply stating Nebraska is prodominantly white, go check the last census, whether a coach or player is comfotable with life here is up to them. Small things matter. Thin skin can be tough to manage, have you tried lotion?

  5. "There were times when (media) took things maybe out of context, and people started making assumptions based on what somebody said," said Pelini.

This is the reason for potential changes to media access. By the way, media has been given full access to Gator Bowl practices and workouts. Watch and make your own observations.

Pelini, by the way, makes it clear he believes in his staff. He likes its chemistry. He plans no changes in coaching personnel.

"You're always looking for ways to get better," he said. "If you ever did tweak anything for any reason, it's just to look for ways to make you better."

I would like a quote or video of Pelini saying he has no plans to make changes to coaching personnel. Otherwise, this conclusion made by the writer (media) is quite fitting for the article and Pelini's reservations.

... or we could just compare him to Kiffen. :ahhhhhhhh

You want a quote or video of Bo saying this??? This is the same man who issued TWO written apologizes to the fan base in the SAME season. He did not have the courage to make his statements in front of a camera then, what makes you think he would say anything now?

  6. If Bo actually goes forward with this, then this will definitely hurt him in the long run. In fact this move could be the stake through the heart.

Husker fans crave news about their team.. To ban all media access to this with only Bo allowed to give comments is a disaster in the making. Maybe it's his way of showing the big middle finger to the sports writers and the husker fans. He should rather look at it that in many cases he made his own bed and had to sleep in it. Don't blame everyone else and not yourself for the drama that occurred this year. I don't think Bo is capable of that internal self reflection though.

Banning media access will only create more wild rumors and conjecture. It will also put him in a negative light with many more fans and sports writers. I hope he sees the light and doesn't do it. If he does, then it will only substantiate people's belief that Bo thinks he knows more than anyone and is incapable of taking criticism.

Banning media access will only make HuskerBoard stronger, you cannot starve the beast. Where do you think the media gets their scoops? This is the trough.

  7. IMO the big off season story will be whether the OC and DC contracts are re-newed. That is an administrative decision, Bo Pelini does not pull every lever within Nebraska Football to his discontent. However, if Bo confronts AD Eichorst about this topic, I would bet the farm Eichorst will cave in again.

Who is ready for this act again next season???

  8. We will never know because we have no idea what assistant coaches Gill could have hired. I do understand when he was at KU, opponents often said that the Jayhawks were the by far the worst coached team they had ever seen.

Interesting, looking back Jim Grobe and Brian Kelly were also candidates.

EDIT: was not intending this to turn into a Bo bashing thread, I am in awe how the outcome one CFB game can change the landscape nationally.

  9. I think Pelini still would have gotten the job, unless LSU made a better offer and promoted him to HC in Miles' place. The Miles to Michigan rumors happened at the same time that LSU was getting ready for the championship game, while NU was also firing Callahan.

As soon as Pederson was fired, it was a foregone conclusion in many fans' minds that Callahan would follow at the end of the season, and Pelini and Gill were immediately the popular choices are far as fan speculation went, even before anyone knew LSU would be in the title game.

When Pelini was hired, Osborne mentioned that one of the main factors in hiring Pelini over Gill was that it was the defense that needed the greatest overhaul. Whether or not LSU made the title game did not change that. Pelini still would have been here.

Gill is still all NEBRASKA and still reps the Husker brand with 100% class, one thing IMO that is for sure is that there would be no on field tirade/meltdowns all of us have come accustomed with now. Looking back at the roster from the '08 - '09 seasons, all most anyone could have went 8 - 4 with the roster at that time (except the guy we fired).

With the cupboard empty of Callahan's recruits Bo's defense has been moderately successful to downright embarrassing these last two seasons. It seems like a 50-50 shot Turner Gill could have done the same thing. Plus, Nebraska would have had it's first Black coach which would have been awesome. Kansas did Gill dirty.

  10. Let's all pull up a chair and play HB's favorite game, "What If". Aaron Torres's article from June 2011 talks about the imapct of West Virgina losing to Pitt Dec. '07 along with Mizzou losing to OU the same weekend. http://www.aarontorres-sports.com/articles/college-football/the-what-if-game-how-one-loss-changed-michigan-west-virginia-and-ohio-state-forever.html (on my iPad no cool link tools, btw way MODS make this site more iPad friendly plz)

Playing along, let's say LSU never makes the BCSNCG and Les Miles goes to Michigan. Does anyone think Bo Pelini would've been hired as Nebraska's head coach? I know we hired him prior to LSU defeating tOSU, however IMO LSU getting to the BCSNCG gave Pelini immediate credibility over the rest of the candidates.

  11. ♫ Eichorst the Red Haired AD ♫

    ♫ Had a very flimsy spine ♫

♫ And if you ever saw him ♫

♫ He would claim he's just fine ♫

♫ Then one fateful Black Friday ♫

♫ Bo Pelini came to say ♫

♫ "If your gonna fire me" ♫

♫ Then just make my day

    ♫ All of the other AD's ♫

♫ Would fire over that little charade ♫

♫ But Eichorst the Red Haired AD ♫

♫ He just simply walked away ♫

  12. Hey Admins, can we get a poll about Shawn Eichorst? Something along the lines of: Do you think Shawn Eichorst is a twerpy no soul Ginger who just got punked in a game of chicken against Bo Pelini? /sarcasm

But really can you get a poll about Eichorst? I am interested in what HB (plus the local media ;) ) thinks of the guy and his (non?)leadership.

  13. I feel like we could create a fun madlibs for Bo Pelini press releases.

"I want to say _________ to all of the fans. My behavior was _________ and is not ___________ of what I stand for. Nebraska has _______ fans. I look forward to _________ Nebraska in the future".

The draws would contain words like:

    heckuva

    proud

    honored

    execute

    regret

    negativity

    standards

    fundamentals

    well-coached

Kirk Ferentz is a mean poopy-head too

    fair-weather

    forgive

    conducted

    representative

how do you like that, my man?

    excited

    future

    football player

Kirk Ferentz is a mean poopy-head too ROFL-SAUCE!!!!

  14. This is what is happening IMO:

Eichorst and Pearlman have already offered their top candidate, the announcement will be made Monday because that person is coaching on Saturdays (5% chance they coach on Sundays) already. They will only hire someone who has head coaching XP.

In the meanwhile, lawyers are scouring Bo's contract looking for an out to lessen the $7.7 M buyout. Better believe there is a behavior article in Bo's contract. If Bo is not fired, Eichorst will have zero credibility for the remainder of his career. How many regular people could get away with Bo's antics and not get fired. Be patient, it is in the works, wait until Monday.
