  1. Taking the lead from IA State Husker, here's Caption Contest #2. You know the drill.

    bo-pelini-john-papuchis.jpg

Bo: "GET ME SUM F'lNG RIBS!"

    Pap: "Mmmm...Sweet Baby Rays."

(Meanwhile we are getting skullfu*!ed up the middle again on a 25yd run.)

  2. Here is my question (if it has already been posited please tell me to shut up); If Illinois jumps to an early 14-0 lead, do the Huskers give up and play dead? Mental toughness IMO is the big concern.

Why? We had absolutely no problem with mental toughness when we were down in several games last year.

Because it's something cool to bitch about.

If we lose a game, the team isn't mentally tough. Simple as that.

Cool story bro, that was last year with seniors leading the defense. Where is that leadership to rally the troops this year? Running out the clock against Wyoming, getting depantsed by UCLA, and smashing two cupcakes is hardly a comparison to last years squad. I know I harked about the Defense last year but those guys had grit and determination. Didn't we just hear that they are NOW practicing tackling? I am not here to bag on the players, I believe they are not being placed in a position to succeed.

  4. When I see this, it almost seems as though we're being baited into comparing this year to 2007. Our schedule in 2007 was the 12th toughest in the country. This year, the schedule hardly seems even remotely comparable. If we have any more than three losses before the bowl game, it would be very disappointing.

Look at this and let's draw parallels and pontifications about the rest of the season.

  5. At least Brian Kelly has been to a National Championship, Urban's and Saban's records speaks for its self, and Will...don't care. Is yelling the modus operandi for coaches above? Do recruits want to come here so they can get yelled at on national TV?

Just watch a game where they coach and you will see them getting emotional and yelling, Saban flips his lid even when he's winning. I seriously wonder if you've played a competitive sport at any level, because if you have and you ever f'd up you would know you were going to get yelled at. Maybe not by your head coach, but a position coach will more than like chew you out. Sometime you've got to raise your voice to reach someone. I'm not going to defend a coach who degrades his players verbally, but from all accounts Bo isn't doing that. Further more he's been very relaxed this year compared to years past, I've watched him on the sidelines at every game this year, and unless guys are screwing up the same way over and over, a la Evans tackling, Santos poor play, corners blowing coverages, he takes them aside and just talks to them when they come off.

If Bo is such an evil guy why do his former players constantly come up to bat for him when the fans or the media are ripping him?

Evil? Lol. Ok, no crap coaches yell. Lets move this to the Woodshed if you are going to hurl insults. I'll be waiting.

  6. Don't go ape sh#t, don't yell at the refs, don't yell at the player. Yup, every "professional" coach keeps those in check at all times.

  7. Thanks Keith Mann, err "Bo Pelini", for the apology. Moving forward, do the Bo Pelini antics continue? Will Bo continue to drop F bombs on the sideline, on his players, and refs? Lets hold him to his word and see if his boorish behavior changes under the magnifying glass now that ALL eyes are watching even closer.

Look at Jim Mora Jr., that guy is a straight G. Kept his cool, stayed composed, motivated his players then came back and dropped 35 on us. Is the fan fan base asking too much wanting a professional on the sidelines? A coach who won't go ape sh#t when it goes sour? That negitativty becomes pandemic and it starts with Bo. If he can get a B1G title, awesome, if not well the door is right there.

  8. It seems like it would be difficult to know this for sure. Are they instead indicating they've narrowed the possibilities to a handful of candidates and focused on someone they think has a motive?

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out this person used their business email to send that tape to Deadspin. Someone dumb enough to encourage deadspin to publish that tape as an appropriate reaction to Bo's comment about Frazier would also be dumb enough to send it from work.

Lazy, dumb, and vindictive. What a triple threat!

  9. Right now Huskers are the 20.5pt favorite, if I were a betting man, I would take SDSU to cover the spread. This game is the SuperBowl for the Jacks and you gotta believe they will be playing with fire in their hearts which cannot be said for our team. Am I wrong? I sure hope so. I think Tommy gets the start and if we are down, which wouldn't be suprising, or playing lackluster, you will see Taylor come back in turf toe or no turf toe.

  10. Yeah, they'll really want to come to an environment where fans are so spiteful they record conversations, hang onto them for two years, then drop them anonymously when it would hurt the program most. Welcome to having the worst scrub of a coach anyone could possibly imagine if he really does get fired.

I get a kick out of these people that say no coach will want to coach Nebraska if they fire Bo. Okay...Mr. Doomsday. Thanks for that pearl of wisdom. Coaches are (generally speaking) not a timid bunch. The opportunity to become the head football coach at the University of Nebraska would generate more than a few qualified applicants. Nebraska might even hit the jackpot and hire a coach who wont hire his friends and family to ride his coat-tails; humiliate his players publicly; consistantly under perform against ranked opponents; make inapropriate comments against the Husker Nation and former players; and last but not least, taint he image of Nebraska Football on a national level. So, please tell...what is YOUR definition of a "scrub of a coach"?

IMO those three reasons alone are enough to get anyone canned if you have a very mediocre record, at best, against Top 25 programs.

  11. Even if this is true now, or at the end of the season, it really, really sucks if you are a true Husker fan (and not sending audio to Deadspin)

Players will transfer. You know...players that Husker fans have been excited about? Gone.

Who will coach? Your grandmother's bridge partner? Frank + this = no sane good coach will *ever* come here.

Be careful what you wish for. Pelini's rant was bad, no doubt. But look at the options. Nebraska may soon envy Penn State.

Hell ya I envy Penn State, as in their coach, look at what Bill O'Brien has done.

  12. It's simple like most have said..................he needs to win to keep his job and win big. I don't know what'll happen if he doesn't win the B1G somehow, but I have a feeling somehow he'll be gone if he doesn't and I don't think I can agree with that. This team better rally together and embrace the "us against the world" mindset and play the way they are capable of playing. Problem is I wonder if they are all mentally tough enough to rally together for an extended amount of time. So far over the years they can't seem to keep it together mentally for 60 minutes of football.....................I don't think it's unreasonable to think they can't keep it together mentally for an entire football season.

This is something I've been trying to wrap my mind around. The 2009 squad was as mentally tough as it come. We didn't become mentally weak until we had primarily Bo recruits. I've been going back over the past decade trying to wrap my mind around this. Bo was only here in 2003 and had great results. He was only at OU one year. He was at LSU for what three or four seasons? I'm beginning to wonder if he isn't just a hard coach to be around. The longer players are around him the more disconnected they become with the task at hand? There were rumors floating around Watson's last year here that he'd lost around 15-20 pounds because of the stress of having to convince players not to quit the team after they'd been royally chewed out by Bo. There were also rumors that Bo actively pursued the Miami job. I just don't know what to think anymore.

Rumor has it Bo was gone the week before the curb stomping B1G Championship game. Bye golly that was the time the Arkansas job was open.

  13. I'm no Bo Pelini sunshine pumper union member, but that move was low. Think of all the people behind the scenes who have to fix this. It was cold, calculated, and intended for maximum damage...the list of suspects is short. Who ever did this obviously failed to think it through.

Of course they thought it through. The timing is pretty good if you have Perlman and Eichorst releasing their statements tonight. It seemed to be released perfectly for the desired effect. You reap what you sow, Bo!

And for those masochists wanting the person who released this tape to go public, I hope you equally wish that Pelini had told you to "Eff off!" right to your faces (you know, rather than behind your backs like the coward/bully that he is).

Was it you? Are you like a demented serial killer returning to the scene of the crime? Lol

  14. "...but even more important was the number of games where we were not competitive,” Osborne said. “At Nebraska, we always expect to compete at a very high level, and those expectations have not changed." -Tom Osborne 11/24/2007

To disagree with the popular kids on HuskerBoard, the blowout or "BO-OUT" losses will get you canned.
