Remember when Florida wanted Scott Frost but didn't want him to have all his assistants?  I'm a patient guy and fully support the coaching staff but the pressure is going to ratchet up on certain assistants next year if some of the same undisciplined behavior continues.  It will be interesting to see if CEO Frost will have to make those decisions.  I hope things improve enough to make a giant leap next year.  I feel bad for guys like Stanley and Devine with no bowl game or anything to play for but the team and personal pride.  I hope none of this hurts Stan's draft stock.  This was the worst one-dimensional FBS offense they will play all year, it's just disheartening to see Isaac's punt wasted after a little improvement this game for the D.  Building blocks of the L on that and dumb penalties at the worst possible time, a super-conservative last drive that only wasted 15 seconds, a missed PAT, among just plain bad luck on not getting at least one grounding call on Thorson or wrapping him up and taking him to the ground.  If I was Jamaican I would say someone has dabbled in the Obeah, or from New Orleans worried somebody had put gris-gris on the steps at Memorial Stadium before the season.  This team needs a win in the worst way to boost morale and stop being the butt of sports media jokes.  Since Chip won today, it's only going to grow the spotlight on the negative.

    Wall of words. Jesus.

We could have Ohio State, Alabama, or Clemson's coaching staff right now and we'd still be 0-6 more than likely.  We just don't have the Jimmies or Joes, especially on defense.

Eh. Doesn't matter we are on our own journey. The idea that we are that talent bereft is intellectually dishonest though. This team could easily be 3-3, 2-4. I'm worried about building a great program, and have been for 20+ years. I've only seen guys that "hope" to improve NU. Frost is going to put his life into rebuilding this thing. He still deserves criticism btw.

  3. Drunk Rambling: Positive reinforcement is good but doesn't take hold as quickly as negative reinforcement. Scott is very positive, his mantra is no fear of failure. Chip Kelly taught him this. Chip and Scott are a combined 0-11 with their teams at present.

Bo was a negative reinforcement guy. He turned things around immediately but never progressed from there. I think the future is bright with Scott,  but we need to eat the -hit sandwich this season.

We weren’t really in a position to win that game ever. From falling behind out of the gate to still being behind expecting a walk on sophomore back up qb with a week of back up reps under his belt to lead a comeback..... I’ll just say, we were never in a position to win.

We were in the lead with a minute left to play. But OK I don't want to die on this hill.

Good point, but things are trending in the right direction. This is the first game this season we were in a position to win. We should have won. We didn’t, but we have never been closer. That’s how things go with a crap rebuild. Nobody, staff or players, has phoned in the season yet. Everybody remains hungry. Hungry and weak, but much better than complacent and weak which is where we were. If we can keep everybody hungry, losses like this stop happening.

We were in position to win the CU game as well. Luckily I drink heavily on Saturdays or my furniture would be torn apart.

St. Paul is right, guys.  He is saying that the kids weren't "creampuffs" when they were recruited.  If you go by how good our players were in high school, we have lots of talent.  The issue is that the upper classmen are YEARS behind other teams when it comes to development in college.

Star rankings are about how good they are in high school and how they "project" into college.  These projections come with an assumption of solid steady development by the coaching staff and strength program at their university.  Our guys didn't have that.

So in a nutshell, Riley (and Pelini) recruited good high school players.  They were developed into creampuffs.

That is not an ideal plan for success.

Yeah they are way behind in development. In some ways the upperclassmen are almost like freshmen in a real cfb program. I think things will start looking like football next season after two years of proper S&C, nutrition, and culture take hold. Long time to wait but we've been waiting for like 20 years so one more year won't kill us.
