The success of the 2021 season will be about how the offense does. If things turn for the better and they can average 32 points or so a game, the team will have a winning record.

What will matter for the defense is the growth of the younger guys. If they keep getting better than the defense will have the depth to last all season without major issues.

If the offense can limit it's turnovers I think that right there is worth a few more wins.  We lose the turnover battle way too much.

In fairness to Offensive Identity, we run an offense very similar to those employed by the most successful teams in football.

We just don't run it very well.

This is true, but we also don't have the talent (Particularly at the QB position) that those teams have.  I think with our roster it would make more sense to line up in a more traditional offense at times, especially considering the snap issues we had last year.  I can't help but think we would be more successful that way and it would perhaps limit some of our mistakes.

You do realize our fan base gets trolled a lot and drunk in laws don't count as sources.   Any proof to back it up?

If there was proof it wouldn't be a rumor, which is all it is right now.  Gotta admit there's smoke though...

If we can find a way to win the first 7 games it'll really help recruiting

Maybe I'm a homer but I don't think that's out of the question(Having 5 of those at home helps).  There is not a team in those 7 games that is far better than us.  Winning those first 3 will be crucial, if we do I think the confidence could be huge going into that Cincinnati game at home.  Minnesota got better as the season went on and I think that had to do with them believing in themselves, which I think is a critical problem for this Nebraska team right now.  Overcome that and you never know what happens next year.

Still no reason for some of these fans calling for Frosts job already.

Still no reason to judge Frost the way some are. Should the staff be immune to criticism? Absolutely not. But some are being extremely over-the-top with their criticism.

If we still see these same mistakes in year 4 and 5 when it's all Frosts players for his system then we can jump to dramatics.

People forget most of these players on the roster were not recruited for this type if a system and the young ones that were are young.

Nah.  Teams make quick turnarounds all the time.  That last excuse you are making was also made with Riley.  I'm not saying Frost needs to go, I love him as our head coach, but he needs to make some changes.  Farniok may not block as well, but high snaps have to really screw with a QBs head.  Imagine being a QB and your eyes should be downfield, instead youre focusing on catching a football that may come in high(if it does come high, you've already missed your first read).  That will throw the whole play off everytime even if the snap is good.  Mentally it will screw you up everytime.

Early enrollee.  Wants to major in Aerospace Engineering which UNL doesn't offer so we're pitching him on a Mechanical undergrad and then get his masters in Aerospace.

Said he thinks it's "special" in Lincoln

Someone needs to start a damn Aerospace Engineering program.

I would expect Washington to get the most carries, but situationally one is used more than the other. At the end of the season a breakdown of 2 backs, R, and QB. How that breaks down exactly will have a lot to do with how effective the R is out of the backfield.

The one one thing to definitely expect is fewer called QB runs. That was often the best option when we needed a few yards, but we don’t want to put unnecessary wear on the QB. It’s a big reason why we got Mills. 3rd/4th and very short killed a lot of drives last year.

I think Maurice Washington is gonna have a huge boost from this offseason, especially with the time spent on Duval.  I expect big things from Washington this year and I don't know that Mills will be used as much as people think.

  8. I have hope for this team.  I really do.  That's why I watch them every week.  It sucks seeing us do this when teams like Syracuse can bring a team like Clemson to the wire, and Northwestern is beating Michigan right now.  Our guys need to wake up and realize we can do it better than them.

Stop with the Refs sucking for why we are losing.  We are not a smart football team.  Dumb teams look the part most of the time.

OK lets forget the ticky tacky calls against us yeah?  The missed holding calls on them?  The missed PI on Morgan?  The BS PI on the INT.  No impact at all....

Or it could mean that he has been to slow and they are trying to speed him up.

Right so I would assume that they would be going at about the same pace, but the article said Martinez was running the offense faster than the other two.  If he was too slow, wouldnt they just try to get him up to Gebbia's pace and not faster?

  11. https://hailvarsity.com/s/4395/observations-from-nebraska-footballs-open-fall-camp-practice

When the offense walked through plays (walked being used loosely here), there was a noticeable difference in the tempo with Adrian Martinez running the show compared to Tristan Gebbia and Andrew Bunch. Martinez's unit was running through plays at the fastest rate in part because the coaching staff was clapping and yelling and pushing things to move as quickly as possible. In recent weeks, coach Scott Frost has talked about a desire to get Martinez playing faster. That much was evident on the field.

Interesting observation here, Martinez is running the offense at the fastest rate...wonder if this is a sign?
