  1. honestly, the ability to stockpile talent. I mean, i think meyer's offenses are clean and crisp and refined, but it helps when a guy like Cardale is your 3rd string QB

Good point.. another way to look at it is would urban meyer have been able to get nebraska to the playoffs in the same amount of time and personnel that he had at ohio state?? No way, i don't see that happening with Meyer or any other coach.. Their third string quarterback is better than our 1st string... and so on.

  2. all i can say is thank god for the playoff!! the college football world has been restored and the real champions can be crowned.. i know an 8 team playoff would be better but still this has some redemption!!

For fun i checked out one of alabama's forums and they had a poll going about how they feel about a four team playoff in a thread!! some of them had enough common sense to like it but for obvious reasons many still don't like the idea! Gee, now we know why..

here's one post from an anonymous alabama fan posted yesterday, i think!!

It should be FSU vs. Alabama, the two teams that had the best regular season. Not the team that lost to Arizona and has an unimpressive SoS, not the team that lost to Virginia Tech and had a horrible SoS..."

According to this guy and probably most of the sec homers.. this would of been this years championship game!! they couldn't have got it more wrong! What a joke..

  3. He looked fantastic tonight, like his old self! What a difference a month can make in healing!! He was underrated, i still think he was the most valuable player in the college this year.. well, ok him, mariota and gordon, it's a three way tie in my book!! but still.. awesome, awesome running back!! We'll never get one quite like him again!! But if we do we're gonna win a championship next time!!

  4.

The e-mail thing is extremely overblown. They essentially announced this morning that players were going to get a meeting this evening.

Also, it's the 21st century. Probably time to get used to obtaining information electronically. It's a great and very fast method.

Yeah this. HOW ELSE were they to be notified? Was Eichorst going to call each player and personally notify them? Of course it's an email.

They have a big room with stadium seating, and a projection screen.. hell, he could've teleconferenced from there if he's to chickens hit to do it in person.

  5.

He'll be gone after the first year, so let's start the new coaching search now.

In that case he'll last a hell of a lot longer than you likely will on this board.

Dude, Husker68601 you've done nothing wrong man! welcome to this board.. As far as I'm concerned husker nation has been divided thanks to our A.D. this guy's got no business being here.. and neither does his splash hire! If we were smart and a hell of lot less

lazy.. we'd be down there protesting at 9 a.m. sharp tomorrow morning!!

We need to send them packing along with all the cheese we can pick up from bakers, bag n save, insert your favorite store here..

and send them on there merry f**cking way!!

  6. so what they beat arizona state?? the OP is right! it's easy for a sh**ty school like oregon state to win a few big games because nobody's worried about you till monday morning the week of... But teams like Nebraska have almost every team they're playing that year preparing for them in the offseason, bye weeks, competing coaches up all night thinking beat Nebraska and most of them have a nothing to lose mentality... basically they circle us on the first day of spring practice, but don't worry with this hire.. that will soon be a distant memory!

  7. here i got the link: http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2014/11/canzano_her_name_is_brenda_tra.html

he says "It's so sad to me that it still haunts her. It's scary what that means to a lady," Riley said. "Maybe retribution would have helped that. I don't know. I just reminded our team here recently about those things that will change their life and others in a blink of an eye."

    HUH??? hold on there's more!

"I'm in the business of helping these guys grow, but some guys refuse that and you have to cut them loose totally. Some guys you have to suspend, see how they do from there. ... It's a hard world to be in. You're judge and jury. But if there were a baby sitter that was accused of molesting kids, would you continue to let them babysit your kids and wait for a jury to decide?"

WTF, continue babysitting.. no Id kill the motherf**cker

They need to fire pearl man, sleaze ball eichorst and start all over... this program is F**cked!!

here's a michigan fan on reddit:

If we went 9-3 every year losing to notre dame, mich state, and osu our coach would be in the hot seat after year 2 and gone after year 4. Honestly 7 years of 10 win seasons but 7 losses to osu would have tons of michigan fans calling for change. While Nebraska doesn't have big rivalries established, it's difficult to create them when you never beat good teams. Their AD wants to see some big seasons sprinkled in there, but doesn't think Bo could make it happen. A lot of programs could be complacent with consistent 9-3 seasons, but michigan certainly isn't one of them and Nebraska doesnt want to be either.

Certainly odd coming from a fan of the University that still employs Brady Hoke. He must have forgot we beat every team in the Big Ten since we have been here (Indiana). He didn't win all the big ones, we get it. No need to stretch it.

interesting!! i never realized it.. but i guess we have beat every team in the BIG at least once in the last three years..

Just curious who else has done that in the last three years?!? outside of an SEC team.. :sarcasm

Difficult to beat every team when we haven't played 2 of them.

True! Even more difficult feat when the two you didn't get to play were the worst in the league..

  9.

Nobody wants Golden and nobody should read Bleacherreport.

i read the bleacher report everyday as a door-to-door bleacher salesman. they got the good leads.

Speaking of salesmen, OP is terrible at making a pitch.

I'm just warning you guys before he gets hired..

thanks for the heads up!! But JCpenney's is already sold out of sweater vests around here!! So i don't know what's worse...

Not that i was looking or anything..

  11. At the same time it would also be a shame if we pass on Frost now, only to find out that he turned out to be a great upstart somewhere else... and then the window is closed to get him back here!

i would really love to snatch somebody who's young, with lots of potential that would trend towards a traditional nebraska brand of football..

  12. And I do mean, proper f*cked...

I know that plenty of people we're pissed with Bo, and I understand that. If you wanted Bo gone, you had your reasons, and that's fine.

But here's the problem, who are they going to hire next?

There isn't one realistic candidate that everyone is saying, "oh yeah, he's the guy". When the program was freed from the Clownahan debacle, it was pretty obvious the choice was Bo. He'd been here a year, was well liked and almost everyone was excited with the hiring. The kool aid was flowing freely, and after the first year, there was a glimmer of hope that our program was heading in the right direction.

Now he's gone. Personally, I think you should have let the DC and OC go. You go after a DC and OC that TO assists in the search for, and you impress upon Bo that he's got a short time frame to get things back on track, or else.

There are a bunch of guys at lower level programs whose names will be thrown out there, and I bet they sound great on paper, but will they be able to do the job? As for Tressel, why would you want him here, because he's like sleeping with a smoking hot girl, you know has a horrific STD. There's the laundry list of the unrealistic choices, which I"m not going to go over, because there's no real chance of any of them coming here.

You're only real choice, is Scott Frost? I think he's got potential, but he's not run a D-1 program yet, and that worries me.

Hence, I think we're f*cked and I have little faith in Eichorst making the right call to run this pro

    Long day walks?

Yeah, working 8 hours at my 2nd job, 4 hours at my main gig tonight, and just finding out about this... pretty much...

walks if rumors are true, and we really dont know anyways, for all we know it could be Jim Tressell. It's more of a wait and see rather than the sky is falling at this point. People are saying he's in town, some say it's to consult, but why the heck would a president of a separate university consult on football matters at NU? I could understand it if he was still a coach but a university president? I believe they have more things to do that dont cover football.

It's a guessing game at this point. We could have screwed the pooch or we have already found someone and just finishing the paperwork.

    F*ck, f*ck, f*ck, f*ck...

Great, if that sweater vest wearing miscreant is going to run this program, we're hosed...

it's a scary thought!! there would be riots in lincoln.. and sweater vest burnings.. and it's not even funny.. not one little bit..

  13. "I refuse to let the program gravitate into mediocrity," Pederson said the day he announced Solich's firing. "We won't surrender the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas."

"Despite firing a coach with a 9-3 record that season and a 58-19 career mark, Pederson said he was not running a "win at all costs" program.

He said he did not like the direction the program was taking after going 16-12 in Solich's last 28 games.

"The byproduct of excellence in every area of your program is winning, and I don't apologize for having high expectations," Pederson said.

"This is the best job in the country, and anyone who doesn't want to win the national championship shouldn't bother applying for this job. I understand we aren't going to win the championship every year, but I believe we should be playing for or gaining on the championship on a consistent basis."

The best job in the country?? i don't think so! Has anybody stepped outside this morning? Here's hoping that history doesn't repeat itself....

    Famous last words!!

  14.

" Last year? Nebraska didn't beat anyone with a pulse until it survived, 24-19, against a beat-up Georgia team in the Gator Bowl."

i still think that's another biased SEC sentence if i've ever seen one!! Had Georgia won last year it would've read something like, 'a healthy Nebraska team gets drubbed again by the same SEC opponent plagued with injuries all season'.. blah, blah, blah

it's spin city with these writers!!

Or how about.. if georgia had beaten Miami this year, 'georgia beats surging canes'....

In all fairness our team had its share of injuries too.

yeah, well that and saying we 'survived' like the heavens opened up and angels flew down and saved nebraska from a mighty sec team kinda BS is what i'm talking about! We won the freakin game dammit!

like i said spinster city with these folks!

  16.

Bo looks at the big picture of course. He just doesn't analyze it for the public and he shouldn't.

There's plenty of criticism to go around without resorting to finding "gotcha" media moments.

    Exactly.

That loss either speaks for itself, or it doesn't. You decide.

But like I said, if we go 10-2 & win a bowl game, it gets complicated for the administration. We know Bo's not going to win a conference title with his staff (and maybe not even with different staff), but firing a guy that goes 10-2 is intricately complicated.

Maybe he'll make it easier though and lose three straight to go 8-4. This'll be interesting.

the only way we're gonna know whether or not Bo's going to win a CCG is if we don't fire him!! We can't fire a coach who potentially goes 10-2 and say 'see i told you he wasn't ever going to win a conference championship'. If we clean house and get rid of the current staff and win a conference championship with a new HC, say in the next 5 to 7 years then you can say Bo wasn't able to accomplish that in that amount of time..

  17.

I want to give the kids all the credit for fighting back, but it could very easily be said we were let back in the game after the other team thought it was over.

I'm sick of this crap right here.

I'm gonna be the first to openly agree how piss-poor we played the first three quarters of that game. But I also think it's majorly unfair that we've complained ALOT during Bo's tenure about things like not finishing games, playing down to opponents, lacking killer instinct, et. al., but god forbid we hold the opponents to the same standard!!

Good teams finish games. Period. I don't want to hear about MSU letting us back into that game. We continued trying to win in the fourth, they did not. That's poor coaching and poor play on their part, and excellent fight and play by our Huskers. Let's not chalk that up simply to MSU laying down.

This is the true bottom-line. We didn't finish that game.

Wrong. We started it well but failed to capitalize on any opportunities and then played like complete ass for 3 quarters and finished the game very well except for one catch...

If anybody is going to ease up or take their foot off the gas, it sure aint mark dantonio!!

Anybody knows when your up by 3+ scores going into the 4th quarter, you need to run out the clock.. which means you have to be able to run the ball..

MSU didn't take any starters out, they simply couldn't run the clock.. because even after having the Husker defense on the field for the better part of three quarters.. MSU still couldn't establish the run in the 4th quarter..at all!! 3 and out after 3 and out and eventually a good team is going to get back into the game! It was no accident, our defense made that last quarter seem like an eternity!!
