No way is Eichorst going to admit he made the wrong hire; he's already shown that. Riley will be here for the entirety of his contract, I have no doubt.

And for the record, do we really want Eichorst making another coaching hire? I sure don't. He needs to be gone, and let the new AD (who will be attempting to impress and earn the support of the fan base) make the splash hire we desperately need.

Eichorst and MR need to exit with Perlman.
You never know it could happen. Spurrier just set a president doing it, and Riley said subtly in press conference that some players gave up or not bought in. I'd acually gain a lot of respect for him if he did hang up hat out of respect saying he isn't best fit to coach our team. One things for sure tho, Eichorst is gunna have a hangover this morning. No way he made it through last night sober.

I'm sticking with giving Riley seven years. It's the principle of the matter. If Nebraska sh!t cans two nine win coaches and then cuts a third loose because he couldn't hit nine wins, the whole state looks retarded.

    Please stop

let me guess your marriage didn't last 7 years so now your bitter

Your use of the "r" word is uncalled for. I understand you're a troll, but at least expand your vocabulary.

Completely agreed. Back to back post with people using it is just sad. I have handicap sister, you never know who your offending with comments. Imo it's worse than any racial slur. It targets an entire group of people who cannot stand up for themselves.

And just from a pure selfish reason, I want a coach who knows and can teach/coach an overpowering running game (at least a 80/20 or higher run-pass ratio) because i like the BEAUTY of a running game attack I find more joy in a 5 yard fullback trap or an inside ISO play than I do any kind of pass play. Passing, to me, just represents WUSSY football pure and simple. You aren't dominating anyone with a passing attack. You aren't imposing your will with a passing game. You're playing monkey in the middle, throwing it over the defenders' head instead of RAMMING it down their throats with a running game.

    80/20. lol :LOLtartar

Maybe we should wear leather helmets too.

Ya that cracked me up too. He had some good points, but saying ATLEAST a 80/20 run to pass split would be insane. Hello 9 or more in box and blitzing on every play.

But with that being said I'd love to see a 65/35 ish split with run pass. Also I agree that Riley doesn't deserve his whole contract if play continues like this. 99.9% of us when we found out Riley was hired had that letdown and or sick feeling in our stomach. But then we let our hearts be reeled into the false hope. You know the saying trust your gut, odds are it's right.

The main reason that most of us changed opinions and opened up to Riley was his experience. We clamor here for just the idea of coaches not shooting the team in foot, and being a help, not a harm to the team. We all seen that in Riley, and bought the whole he did less with more hype. But here we are halfway through year one and you could debate 3 of our losses and 1 near loss all could be pinned squarely on collective coaching decisions. Riley has spent whole career virtually on West Coast with some South and Canada mixed in. Even the biggest of Mr. Rogers lovers have to admit that at his age, previous track record, and being in a foreign leauge that's style is complete opposite of everything he's ever known, is a big stretch.

If SE fired Bo without having an a candidate already handpicked would be idiocy...

Which is why it probably didn't happen that way.

Can you be completely 100% sure of that?

    I can't...

No worries Walks, he's probably got Charlie Weiss as a fallback hire for a million a year and a Village Inn Pie of the Month Club membership.

    That made me laugh...

Maybe we can get Mangino as OC, a hefty guy at DC, and have the 3/4 ton coaching staff...

Ya and none of them would even have to get a permanent home. They could just stay at a hotel like Riley did and feast off the continental breakfast. I'd make a dream staff and put Rex Ryan as head coach, but he went all Subway Jared and gave up... Quiter

  5. I can't believe people are acually disagreeing about the article, and trying to use the fact that Bo's name was brought up in one paragraph to discredit the entirety of the story. The Author was spot on.

I just know the checkbooks won't get opened up for awhile, and hope if things continue how they have been, that Riley shows us he cares about winning enough to atleast make a few changes to his coaching staff. One thing I really cannot stand anymore is buddy hires. Riley said he will hire people that know more about football than him, and it would be nice to see. Sadly for all we know that still may hold true even with Langsdorf,Banker, Stewart, Cav, and Hughes on this staff.

I listened to a bit of The Bottom Line radio show (Severe and Ganz) and Ganz said that Banker's D is basically Cosgrove's D. The schematics are exactly the same. If Cosgrove's D was out of date 8 years ago then what does that make Banker's D?

I know the concept is to make the offense one dimensional, but if it's so easy to pass against, then why would the offense do anything but line up in shotgun and run play action passes all day?

While Joe loves him some Joe and I question what he says, the results and the eye test seem to lend credence to his words.

Yeah, but don't you think Joe knows what he is seeing when he sees the defense? He only practiced against it for 4 years.

Joe knew today's defense as soon as they lined up. Banker needs to change something, and do it quick.

I'm not denying what he said. He also said that Rileys offense in very similar to Callahans.

I just remember what he said about Josh Freeman, and how that all proved to be untrue.

So if Severe would have said it, you would find the statement more credible? When it comes to X's and O's I would have to think Joe knows what he's talking about. Of course, he isn't some guy on here who is "breaking down the o-line play" from watching the game TV replay.

Ganz is acually extremely insightful and surprisingly very nutural. To prove that if you listen everyday, one thing Ganz consistently compliments is how they have improved Tommie under Langsdorf. Last year that was Ganz'job, and he wasn't very successful at it. So if he was reporting out of "spite" he wouldn't give that credit. Look at Damon Benning, we all highly respect his opinion because he was a former player. Imagine if he was on Bo's staff and had that attached to him, would that automatically make his opinion invalid? If you take anything Bishop or Peterson say seriously, you dam well better listen to Ganz.

  7. At any rate, thank you for your comments and for following this thread.

Ya don't feel bad, I was in your shoes a year ago. I would read comments all the time of people and loved their opinions, Just to get hammered as a newb and felt unwelcomed. Usually by people whose opinions you respect the most which was worse. Word of advice tho, don't EVER misspell words, use improper spelling/punctuation, or let your phone auto correct words wrong, because you will get hammered. That is why i read EVERYDAY for over 2 years but keep too myself! GBR!!

  8. O that just made my Easter. Better than dieing dyeing eggs!!!!

Sorry, but things like this bother me. I'm not really sure why since I'm a Math teacher and not an English teacher ^_^

yaYeah, I'm sorry now, or in future for any typo's. I do all my huskerboard reading and writing at work on break, so im I'm very pressed for time. But ill I'll be the first to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. In fact its it's the only class i that I really didnt like honestly.

Last time that I do that to you! Just having some fun.

In all seriousness, I really like the look of this kid. I think he is going to be a huge contributor to the team. I love the way this class is starting to shape up. I just hope they can keep up the momentum and keep all of the kids committed!

Okay, I get the point. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  9. Michigan State would be the only one i would consider elite, but i dont think he has a ton more success there than he would have here.

That being said, i doubt Izzo goes NBA.

Hoiberg is the most lkely of those 3 to go to the wolves and would be the most wanted one i think.

Iowa State is not that much better of a job.

    Florida is too far away.

The jobs i would be concerned about are: Minnesota/Notre Dame/Kansas

    But even that, who knows.

Be concerned about Minnesota? I dont see how that would even be an option for Tim that would be a downgrade for sure. I dont see him leaving unless its a Kansas, N Carolina, Kentuky, Louisville, or some other top tier program. He has the chance here to be the Coach K of Nebraska. He has a chance to be the Tom Osborne of Nebrasketball. Thats alot to pass up to just be the next in line at an elite school.

  10. Did someone seriously suggest we give student-athletes a 40 hours per week salary on top of their full scholarship and meals and benefits

I suggested it but its was all hypothetical. In my opinion i believe it should say exactly how it is. CFB is my favorite sport by a mile and i don"t want to see any change. But the way things are appearing i see ALOT of change coming in next 10 years. All i was saying is since the student athletes cannot work during season that maybe just during the season they get a pay check for 32-40 hours a week at minimum wage of that state. I think thats a far more buyable solution then it coming down to which university can pay the players the most for their Letter of Intent.

Once again its just an idea that i was curious of peoples thoughts, not what i think should happen IMO

  11. If I saw 3 Husker fans threaten someone for being a fan of another team Id probably back up the fan of another team and tell those asswads they arent real Husker fans.

Ya i would do the same Red... Thats the difference between fan bases as a whole though. Iowa fans in Sioux City or as i call Sewer sh**ty, go above and beyond to hate and put down Nebraska football. Since we are a border town we are split as a fan base alot of Huskers here. And Iowa fans hate the fact they have never won a single national title. So they do whatever they can do to stick together and pat each others backs when they are down. I could rant for hours about Iowa sorry. I may start a thread soon 1000 reasons to hate the hawkeyes!

  12. I dont have a problem with recruiting juniors or maybe even Sophmores, but when coaches dip into the Frosh or Middle School levels, and offer kids who have never even played a down of HS football thats where line should be drawn. I know a kid who commited to Iowa State for basketball at my school in 8th grade. He would say all the time he just commited to them get his name out there. Long story short he let it all get to his head and by 10th grade he was constantly in trouble with law and ended up going to an NAIA team.

Not saying if the commit early they are going to jail, just saying alot of kids use commits to launch there name and are worth nothing to program. I know it goes on even at senior level, but trusting a 14 year old with your commitment is absurd

  13. I wonder how people would view Fyfe in the seriousness of becoming our starter if he were a 3 or 4 star recruit and TA or JS were our walkons? judging on just his GAME not NAME, I dont see any seperation between him and any of our qb's on roster.

  14. Ya i hope it does bring the swagger back. I usually go to atleast 1 Nebraska game a year, and I have noticed last few years everything seems less energetic with players and fans. Alot of this could be because last 2 games I saw were "Blackshirt Friday" games against Iowa and alot of people have a Turky hangover. But even in Callahan days, the games i went too seemed more electric. I remember Nebraska vs. Texas Tech in 07' i believe. After game i couldnt even bare the headache i got from all screaming of me and fans around. We lost that game heartbreakingly. I could be wrong but just seems like a trend IMO
