Definitely!!!! Lose your star 1st string QB and still pull off the win. Hats off.
-
I hate to say it, but I am questioning our coaching against mobile QB's. I know the scheme and I know it can work, but, c'mon, we don't have the defensive linemen to make it work right now. That requires an adjustment, not just asking the D-line to do something they obviously cannot do.

how to use a lead back???? Just wondering. Maybe Beck has that temporary amnesia thing.
-
While I think it may be the beer talking, I think there is a point here. We have come out flat against subpar competition in Bo's tenure.
-
Offensively i give it to Taylor Martinez
Most of his incompletions have been dropped passes.
I give it to Tim Marlowe for playing hard.
I don't think anyone on the defensive side of the ball deserves a game ball. Northwestern took the football and rammed it down the Blackshirts throat.
Anyone else think that the blackshirts should be taken away. 500 yards (basically) given up. sad, very sad

good B1G teams don't lose at home to bottom feeders.
Ok, I'll give you that one, but the B1G seems to be a very bipolar conference overall. Us included or maybe leading the way.

We are not a bad team, we are just not a consistent team. Same story, different year.
Edit -- seems to make us a perfect fit for the BIG. Anyone else see the Michigan score.

Carl Pelini this summer "deepest defense we've ever had" translation "they all pretty much suck"
-
Wow, just getting schooled by NW offense
-
Seems like the players have to motivate themselves. Takes a big play to get them off there ass, but where the hell is the O-line today?
-
This coaching staff is never going to be able to keep a team focused for four quarters, much less an entire season.
Second that
-
DB's absolutely suck this game
-
Have we run one single power play out of the I all game long?
-
you're right, it probably isn't. But after watching bo's and taylor's pressers, Rex's was a lot, really a lot, better.
-
Congrats to the entire team.

What do people who are in the state (NE) think of Tyson Broekemeier? I know he wasn't heavily recruited by DI FCS schools, but looking at his stats etc. It looks to me he has the potential to provide the needed depth & maybe long term be a starter (I'm think Gdowski-esque). (and no, I'm not discounting Ron Kellogg III, just heard he doesn't have the wheels to run our current offense).

It was just time, just like Turner moved on to Green Bay. I love Turner. Just like Turner, Wats and Gilmore will always be Huskers in my mind. They gave their best, it was just time to move on.
Good Luck Wats in Louisville.
Good Luck TG at USC.
Wish them all the best.

please note my intended sarcasm. Of all the boards I partake in, this one is the most lenient as far as deleting threads/posts. A lot (maybe even too much) latitude is given.

Yes, absolutely nothing can be mentioned that has not already been verified as absolute truth by every major media outlet, including the LJS, OWH, ESPN, and Al Jeezer. Thus negating any need to read the message board in the first place.

ESPN will already have the rights to Texas and besides OU there really isn't a TV draw left.
Is this known or just speculation? I.e. the contract could be such that ESPN has the "leftovers" from any conference contract. If ESPN has the righs to ALL Texas games, the rest of the Big 12 teams should start looking for different conferences now as isn't the current Big 12 TV deal due to expire and be re-negotiated this year? If it is, they won't get squat without the rights to the Texas games. Further, what about the "other" team? Say Fox gets the "rights" to OU games? Who gets to air it -- the home team?
In any regards, I just see a lot of problems when a team within a conference negotiates their own contracts. It only works if you're independent (and why ND has joined a football conference yet). I wonder what everyone else in the Big 12 thinks of Nebraska now? Bad guy, or just damn smart.

I know the coaches came into the season saying the O-line was a strength, but what else were they suppose to say? I'm noticing in in our recruitment list we seem to have a lot more, high quality, OL recruits then in recent memory. These coaches recruit based on need, not necessarily just "best available", and if they are recruiting more O-line recruits than previously, it tells me they think it is a weakness. Can anyone tell me how, numbers wise, this class is stacking up against, say the last 3 or 4 OL recruiting classes?

honestly, there is no defense for keeping Watson, does anyone think it will be any different next season?....i mean really, cmon man!
I know it wasn't this bad, but I remember when, in the late 80's, we all wanted Charlie McBride's head. Our D was slow and overmatched against the speed in the SEC. They went down to Fl. State (I think) and learned a lot that lead to our dominant mid-90's run. Now, I'm not saying Wats is any McBride; and we were regularly in the NC picture in the late 80's (not getting embarassed by 6-6 teams) but I guess I'm just hoping, that if Wats does stay, there is some sort of ah-ha moment.
People waited all the way through 2007 for that moment. You know what's more likely to happen first? You picking up a paper one morning that reads, "Osborne, Pelini Fired".
Watson is not going to have an 'Aha!' moment. He's not going to magically turn into an option coach. He's coaching out of his element at the highest level of collegiate football and he's equipped with a mediocre staff that do not develop or produce excellence from their players.
Ok, you are probably right on this one. I guy can hope can't he? (by the way, I'm hoping even more the Wats finds a new job).

There is more than 1 person, myself included that thinks Bo doesn't let Wats do what he wants with the offense. I really don't think this is the O Wats wants. Not trying to defend him. He should be done. Just a counterpoint to the argument that Pelini doesn't have anything to do with the O or is involved in that side of the game.
Who, besides Beck about 2 years on Kansas, has any zone-read experience on this staff???? Couple that with the boogered up coaching staff (1/2 old BC guys, 1/2 new BP guys) and it just seems like the O-staff is not on the same page. Probably not even reading the same book. This is shown in the fact that our Offense has NO identity, and seems to regress every single year.
Not trying to defend Wats either, I like the guy, but he just isn't getting the job done right now.
Well Texas wins another recruiting championship
