You know your team could just not have nominated this guy. I have a hard time believing your team didn't know about this allegation since I'm sure he was thoroughly vetted by trumps people. But since thing like this are viewed by many on the Republican side as not being a big deal the Republicans have gotten themselves in this mess. I'm sure there are plenty of conservative judges that dont have his baggage.

    1) Since I didn't vote for Trump, not sure I have to claim them as "my team".

    2) If the allegation isn't true, it's not Kavanaughs baggage to be falsely accused of something.

    3) If the allegation is true,  this is all on Kavanaugh, as my guess would be that no one knew about this before Dr. Ford came forward

Dunno how many teenagers you’ve met. And I don’t think people had the same attitude about what happened that long ago. Especially not a bunch of teenagers.

When I was in HS (not that long ago) everyone knew about a guy peeing on another guy in the bathroom while he was held down and I’d consider that assault as well.

But my guess is one of the following occurred.

    1) The boy being held down told someone (Dr. Ford said she told no one)

    2) The boy doing the peeing told someone (Judge Kavanaugh said he didn't do it)

    3) The boys holding down the boy told someone (The only other person allegedly in the room, said this didn't happen)

    4) Someone else saw it (There are no witnesses in this case)

Without one of those four things happening, how can "many people hear about it"?

Wouldn't it be easier if everyone just acknowledged that this whole flap is less about morals and an alleged misdemeanor from 36 years ago....and more about the future status of Roe v Wade...?

I don't think it is only about Roe v Wade, but it is certainly more about the direction of the court than it is the alleged incident.

I haven't seen any thing substantial on it at all in regards to follow up interviews, etc.  My first thought in seeing that list was - who knows 65 women intimately enough that they would sign their name to the document?  It may all be good and fine and sound.  I guess he did teach - so you can know plenty of people that way.  But I would be somewhat concern if he was that 'intimate' with so many women that  they would risk their integrity by singing the document.    (Maybe I'm being prudish here:dunno- a bit Mike Pence like)

I'd like to know if a reporter has talk to the other 17 year old 'boy' who was in the room wt Kav at the time of the alleged incident?  He could & should verify the story.

He has sent a letter to the Judiciary committee stating that he has no recollection of this alleged assault occurring.

How dare those godless heathen democrats delay a confirmation of a supreme court nomination. The republicans would never do such a thing for political gain.

Of course the Republicans were honest about what they were doing in following a rule that Joe Biden suggested in 1992 that a President shouldn't nominate a Supreme Court Justice during an election year; and of course it was political maneuvering.

The Democrats are pretending to care about an alleged, unreported, misdemeanor assault from 35 years ago, that they knew about 2 1/2 months ago, only to bring it up after the confirmation hearings had concluded, with one purpose, to delay the confirmation.  If Feinstein truly cared about this, she would have asked Kavanaugh about it in her private interviews with him.

This seems like a pretty substantial untruth.  Why would Dr. Ford lie to 2 different therapists 6 years ago, that is quite the long game for a set up.  Why would she also implicate the douchebag Judge character, he could easily corraborate anything Kavannaugh says to get him off.  In my opinion it just doesnt make sense for her to make up this particular accuation.

I am seeing an awful lot of--sexual assault as a 17 year old shouldn't count against a 53 year old, if that is the case then Kavannaugh needs to come out and admit it and make amends.  Show real character, dont be a coward and lie about it.

Let's be honest, the only reason Dr. Ford and the Dems want an FBI investigation is because it will push the confirmation vote past the mid-term elections. It's the same reason Sen Fienstein Sat on the letter for 6 weeks.

Would you be in favor of confirming Alito or Thomas if they'd not told the truth a handful of times under oath and then this popped up?

Yep, don't tell the truth under oath, don't get confirmed.  But has to be actually not telling the truth about something substinative, not some minor "got ya".

Prevented from becoming justices regardless of philosophy. Removed if found guilty.

And like I said above, there should be term limits so this decision isn’t so monumental.

Don't totally disagree with your first statement.

Removing term limits would take a constitutional amendment, doubt it will ever happen, and not sure it should.

An appointment to the highest court in the land is a little different than a regular 9 to 5, no?

I'm not sure what to think of this now. It's been 35 years since this happened and It doesn't seem like he has any track record of continued behavior. But it gives you pause when you think about the character of the people you want to hold high offices.

    I don't disagree.

  10. Assuming for a moment that everything Dr. Ford is alleging occurred exactly as she says, and let's say she immediately reported it to the authorities., does anyone really think that Brett Kavanaugh  would have been charged with anything more than a misdemeanor assault?  I don't.

So, If I am correct, the new standard would now be that an unreported misdemeanor assault, from 35 years ago, would be enough to keep someone off the Supreme Court.

And this new standard is being set by the party (Democrats), who are pushing "ban the box" bills that would forbid employers from asking potential employees if they have been convicted of a felony on their employment application.

I actually think we are 0-2 due to bad timing of some unfortunate events. 1- our home opener gets cancelled due to weather/lightning. This prevents us from getting first game crapola out of the way with an Akron opponent who we likely could’ve still beat while committing turnovers, bad penalties and first game jitters of some young players, notably a true freshman Starting QB. So instead we get to experience these things against a better more determined CU opponent and we fail to overcome. 2- then some dirty sob from CU twists our QB’s leg, taking him out for the end of the game , when we desperately needed him, preventing a much better chance of actually coming back to win that game. 3- This injury also takes AM out of the Troy game and requires us to go into game 2 yet again with a QB who hasn’t taken any CFB snaps and who, quite frankly, is nowhere near the athlete AM is. He did not have the same playbook at his disposal for reasons that should be obvious and the coaches chose to go with a more conservative game plan that gets blown up in the first quarter due to falling behind early. The storied first to second game jump does not occur for various reasons and we drop another game that only one week earlier appeared to be a game we should’ve won. So here we are 0-2 instead of 3-0 or 2-1.

Now, like you said, the things that can be laid at the feet of HCSF is the failure to burn clock late in the CU game, special teams play that inexplicably has cost us field position and a lack of points due to missed field goals, and a host of really bad penalties. It’s tough to put too much blame on the coaches for the stupid penalties and maybe these do belong more to the players but discipline is typically dependent on coaching so they get it. But really we are 0-2 due to series of unfortunate events largely out of their control. Young rebuilding teams rarely are going to weather these types of things. So here we are. It will get better as long as AM is able to play and stays healthy. We are in for a long year if we have to rely on anyone else in the QB room. But yeah I think everything on your list contributed except for maybe lack of talent. Lack of depth yes, but not a lack of talent from our intended first string players. One guy could’ve been the difference in both games. That’s not an ideal position to be in but that is where we are.

Edit- I failed to mention the circumstances of the fall 2 man QB competition that resulted in our intended number 2 QB Gebbia taking his ball and going home all while denying our real backup meaningful fall snaps which could’ve been useful since he was needed so early in the season. It’s really nothing that can be blamed on anyone but it happened.

    This sums everything up perfectly.

     Nice, responsible posting

Two or three people have pointed out the errors and falsehoods in this ridiculous post yet you ignore it, take no responsibility for the crap you posted and you haven’t corrected it or admitted you were wrong. I have no idea why you brought any of this up because it’s a load of horsesh#t and has nothing to do with any righteous indignation that may or may not being expressed in this topic. If you believe what you posted you don’t know jack about what your talking about.

  13. I think TG transferring now, instead of at the end of the season, may actually hurt his chances with the NFL.

I could see an NFL GM asking himself "do I want a QB who is in a battle being the starter, and upon losing, demands to be traded right before the season starts, and leaves me with no good back-up, or do I want a QB who lost the battle and says he will stay and be the best back up he can be, then asking to be traded at the end of year so he can potentially start somewhere else.?"

I don't mean to imply that Bunch isn't a good back up.

  14. I, like most people here am disappointed TG is leaving; and like most people, do not hold it against TG for doing what's best for him.

It seems to me that there should be a rule change regarding the scholarship.  A scholarship shouldn't count against a team total, if the player is enrolled at a different school.

  15. After reading all of the comments here about OSU and Urban Meyer, seems to me that many have forgotten that we currently have a head coach who, while in college, hid in a closet while a teammate beat the hell out of his girl friend, and this same coach recently invited a former Husker back to talk to the football team; a former player was who convicted of sexual assault while playing football for the Huskers.

I only bring this up because it seems that all of this rightous  indignation seem a little over the top.

It is still covered as on of the school employees is the one who is beating his wife, he also happened to be one of the subordinates of Urban Meyer, so it is in fact covered by title IX.  It doesn't just stop at being against one of those hilited above, it also covers if the hilited are the abuser.

Ok, I wasn't trying to defend Urban, I just wasn't sure that it was a Title IX issue. Apparently it is.

That's not true. Title IX extends much further than the snippet you've provided here and it still applies even if the victim is a non-student (if it didn't, that would be asinine).

Most university's also cover this in their Title IX documentation. Here is UNL's:

All students, faculty and staff at UNL are protected by Title IX (regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, full or part-time status, disability, race or national origin) in all aspects of UNL’s educational programs and activities. All forms of sexual harassment, including but not limited to, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault are violations of Title IX and prohibited by UNL.

I think Urban is toast, and should be; but I do not believe this is a Title IX issue, as noted above from the UNL link you provided.
