It's an uphill battle to acclimate to a new job and to expect riley to just come in and contend immediately is naive and wishful at best.

Really that far fetched? How are the other new hires doing during the soft part of the schedule?

    Michigan/Florida - obvious

    Houston - undefeated and contending

    Oregon St - getting routed

    Pitt - 4-1

Wisconsin - not good, but 4-2

Most of those hires, possibly all of those hires, were widely considered better than ours. Ours just baffled everyone. (Personally think Chryst makes about as little sense as Riley but some disagree.)

Even if you ignore the idea of contending, which I would say is better left as exceeding expectations in a first year, 2-4 is simply not acceptable, and certainly not with this schedule. There is a good chance, largely depending on what Sparty does next week, that we do not play a top 10 team this season.

Who cares? Riley is a completely different type of coach compared to any of those hires. It's been beaten to death but just let the guy do what he can whether it be bad coaching or dominating top ten teams.

(Obvious) We have witnessed Riley's 6th game as a head coach at NU. Is patience something that people don't care for?

I learned that the odd guy standing next to Riley without a headset is Bruce Read and he makes $450k.

He's got a great gig. I wish I could make that bank with that performance.

I have no clue what you're talking about.

    1) Drew Brown was 2/2 in kicking tonight.

    2) Didn't really have a chance to return punts or kicks.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I was underwhelmed. I have no idea how good SA is.

The tackling overall has been better. The run D looks ok, the pass D is terrible. No coverage, no pass rush even when blitzing. The offense is not good. The play calling is horrible. The best I can say about Tommy is that he was invisible tonight. He missed a few passes but he didn't have all of the miss reads and turnovers that he is prone to. He was as solid as I've seen him.

And, we still have the penalty issues that Riley teams are known for.

    Explain.

The coverage teams seem to be pretty good, as they were under the previous staff. The return game and the FG kicking has regressed.

The play calling lost the last game for us. It really wasn't much better tonight, but we played what apparently is a bad team. Throwing the ball all over the park is not going to win any meaningful games here.

Tommy played as well as I've seen him play. He missed a few easy passes, but he didn't turn the ball over like he normally does (2 last week). He threw the ball off of his back foot way too much tonight. Essentially, I didn't really notice him because he played well and did what he is supposed to do.

Does the game last week have anything to do with the game this week? Nope. Also, I wonder why our return game has regressed... Open your eyes Mr. Negative. Do you really expect us to be perfect after 2 games? That'd would be extremely unreasonable and ridiculous... If we are successful under Riley you might as well disappear from any board you frequent because there will be no use for people like yourself.

Yeah. I guess you guys are right. BYU sucks. Nebraska should be winning by 56 at half time. Or Nebraska really sucks too.

Sounds like you got it right. See you in a week.

No, You won't see me in a week unless someone wants me to respond to something, I will leave you guys to marvel at how amazing Nebraska is.

You guys are cry babies. You guys post lots of smack and cry and whine when you get a little back, even if it's clearly just meant as good natured fun. If someone tries to talk reasonably you can't handle the idea that a "mid major" like BYU thinks they have a shot in the game, even when most of the posts I saw from BYU looked like they think it's more than fair to be the underdog in the game. Your fans seem polite if they think everyone in the room is worshiping Nebraska. I'm not buying the polite Nebraska fan shctick.

Sorry guys. Your glory days are over. Every team has an off season conditioning program now. You are a great program who left a better conference to be in weak division of teams nobody cares about and you act like the CFB world. still revolves around you. Enjoy playing in lots of conference championship games. I think Nebraska is still CFB royalty, but you manage to get an even more inflated self view. Nice work.

Good luck and I wish your guys a good season, but your fans are delusional.

I feel like you've been reading some other thread and then posted this based on that other made up thread in your head.

Seriously when we beat BYU it'll be like we just beat Arkansas State don't worry about us fans we'll be just fine.

Don't worry skersfan the majority need a scapegoat to blame...

Currently it's Bo and his former staff and how none of them had any knowledge.

So... the scapegoat for the football team's performance is the head coach.

I'm not sure you know what a scapegoat is.

Go team? I like mike riley

I think we can get 12 wins. Split the road games and hopefully lose no more than two at home.

IF we get our sh*t together.

the way we look right now 8-8 is the best I'd put us. Obviously things can get better but I'm not willing to go any better than this right now.

One guy expects 12 wins, the next guy expects 8. Somebody is wrong. The fun thing is, 1 more win would be equal to the last guys ceiling. 11 or 12 wins would be something this program hasn't seen in a long time. Yet, there's a first time HC coming in and there is actually someone willing to say it. I like it. 12 wins here we come. Or........maybe not. Or......maybe yes?
How does 1 more win get us to 8 wins in conference play?
I think his post relates more to Husker football.
  6. I'd rate his performance as fantastic with a side of poop. He's going out, talking to recruits, saying the right things, being a coach yada yada. And that's great because it's been awhile to see an actual coach for once.

But he is being poopy in regards to hiring a staff. Nebraska being thrifty and cheap. Overall id rate his staff 4 out of 5 poops. 5 poops being very very poopy.

I'm not entirely sure what I just read, but to hell with it. +1

  7. All we can do as fans is give the guy a chance. Let's see what kind of staff he hires, how he recruits, and how he handles the pressure of coaching at a big time program before we evaluate how successful he can be. Just my opinion
