Are you 100% sure about that? Last I knew kids that come in on academic scholarships wouldn't count towards the limit.
Works the same way with academic scholarship. We could get a really smart player in on an academic scholarship, but as soon as he hit the football field he would be a scholarship player on the 85.Technically, he could come in under a baseball scholarship. The second he stepped on the football field in a game though, he'd count against the 85. Considering the limited scholarships in baseball, this would never happen. He'd come in on a football ship from the start.
It's true. This is the reason that Todd Peterson couldn't take a Regents Scholarship. Otherwise people would just make up scholarships to exceed the 85 limit.

Khalil Davis ran a stupid fast, electronically timed 4.90 at the US Army Combine while weighing 256 lbs. He was the third fastest guy over 200 lbs.

I was looking at the results from the US Army Combine and it turns out that Carlos Davis actually ran a 4.96 electronic forty, which is absurdly fast for a 267 lbs guy in high school. To put it in perspective, there were only four guys faster (including his brother) that weighed over 200 lbs at the entire combine.

Watch his hudl film from his junior year. He just looks like a tall, good athlete. He's not really a great football player. Standing straight up, letting guys get into his chest, giving up on blocks, not initiating contact, grabbing because his hips are in poor position. There are much better players on our list considering the numbers game.
