beck just seems stuck in neutral.........

Stuck in neutral....with the #9 rushing offense in the country?

    Averaging 6 yards a carry

Is beck running for those yards that make us the #9 rushing offense in the country? A lot of it is the fact that we have a running back who is just that good...I think I could call an offense with AA and have them ranked #9 nationally in rushing.

  2. While I agree that the ESPN and SEC relationship is potenitally dangerous, but are we forgetting that conference won like 7 national titles in a row, and finished 2nd in a classic game last year? And have you been watching the football games this year? I am sorry, but the SEC is by and far the best conference in football. Don't like it? Go beat them. Most teams havent been able to do it.

The problem is that they are not settling it on the field. For example, the year we had the LSU/ Alabama rematch, LSU settled it on the field...They beat Alabama IN Tuscaloosa. Alabama had their shot to take down LSU and had everything going for them. The fact is they didn't get it done. Then we fast forward to the title game. Was there another unbeaten besides LSU, No. But should someone else have gotten a shot to take the crown, you bet. (Oklahoma St./Oregon) Anyone will tell you that it is harder to beat a team the second time. I know you will argue LSU is an SEC team. Correct, but we didn't get a chance to see LSU up against another conference's elite team. That is the point we are trying to make

Best part of this game was our last TD drive. We started at the Miami 40 after their multiple asshat personal foul penalties following Kalu's interception. Ameer had already run the ball 29 times that game. There was no mystery about who was getting the ball anymore. If there's a guy you need to stop, it's Ameer.

1st & 10, Miami 40 - Ameer rush over right tackle for 3 yards. Miami penalty, personal foul for 15 yards.

    1st & 10, Miami 22 - Ameer rush up middle for 3 yards

    2nd & 7, Miami 19 - Ameer rush over right tackle for 6 yards

    3rd & 1, Miami 13 - Ameer rush over right tackle for 4 yards

1st & Goal, Miami 9 - Ameer rush over right tackle for 4 yards

    2nd & Goal, Miami 5 - False start, Nebraska (-5 yards)

2nd & Goal, Miami 10 - Ameer rush over right tackle for 10 yards, TOUCHDOWN

It was really simple stuff. Hat on hat, grinding it out, finding out who's the better man. They knew (or should have known) Ameer was getting the ball. He got the ball. They just couldn't stop him.

Six rushes, average of five yards per rush, Touchdown. Game.

Miami was gassed. If you have the luxury of sticking with a between the tackles running game, this is the advantage. The fourth quarter is all yours.

Miami was gasses. However, they were gassed because we pounded them in the mouth for three quarters before that. This is the reason you have to stick to your gameplan for the entirety of a game (assuming you are having some success). I am not saying run the ball 70 times a game and throwing 5. You have to keep the defense honest, but we were beating their front 7, so why change until they force you to?

  4. 4 days out from the game here are my "top ten" comments from the game and the season thus far

    1. Can we teach our defense how to defend a WR bubble or tunnell screen? (We did a little better towards the end of the Miami game though)

    2. We still need to clean up the penalties

    3. We are not a team who should have to throw the ball over 20-25 times a game (15-20 would be ideal)

    4. How many times can Gregory get chop blocked in a game before it is penalized

    5. Although the O-line has been somewhat inconsistent, but Saturday gave us a glimpse of what we all want to see

    6. Our secondary is getting better, I would still like them to find the ball a little better and play with more physicality

    7. Two "young guns" of the year Gerry and Pierson-El

    8. Ameer is exactly what we thought he would be

    9. Criticize TA all you want, he has only lost 1 game as a starter

    10. The mindset is changing in Lincoln

  5. Beck: Bo, I have a plan to right the ship this week. Fresno is dead last in rushing defense. They'll expect we pound AA to the tune of 500 yards and a Hypesman run. I know they know we know they know we know this. I plan to come out all Air Raid and pass slap these b!tches. They won't know what hit them...........

Bo: Sounds like a great plan. KB is hurt, JT is done for the season not to mention Reilly and Burtch, TA is hitting 50% and because of poor DB the last two weeks avoided like 5 more picks. Not to mention, they'll key on AA and he needs the rest. We don't want to show too much too soon.......

On a serious note, AA is a class act and deserves the accolades and then some. If the Hypesman truly went to the best player in college, I would seriously look at AA for several reasons. Current lack of other "go to" players, stymied by poor play calling and a jeckyll and hyde team. He currently is NU success.

Great point, scary thing is I can actually see this conversation happening.
