If I recall correctly, going for two on their last TD was the right call, but going for two in the ones prior are what all of the Ducks (my boss included) are upset about.

Hmmmmmmmm........
Clemson just scored to go up by four ..... then went for two.
Near the end of the game you always go for 2 when up by 4. No difference between 4 and 5 points, but 6 at least gives you a chance to block the extra point to stay tied.

No real disrespect to CSU, but they're not a Power 5 con. They have NO chance to ever make a CF playoff, so what do they play for? I mean, where are those hopes at the beginning of the season - realistic or not - that this could be a magical year and make it?
If it were me, I'd rather take a chance where there is some hope at a bigger program at least. And a P5 Conf. Even if it was a middle of the pack team. That would be my logical starting point. Look at Duke and how far they've come along. Winston won't play at FSU forever, and it is more possible in the ACC for someone else to rise up. Plus you play in bigger venues and against more traditional power teams. Not to mention the quality of recruits that go to P5 over CSU, etc.
Bigger programs, better venues, better recruits, bigger TV games, and championship dreams.
Their last coach is now at one of the best spots possible (Florida) after coaching at CSU for 3 years...

Family planned trip a year ago that puts me in San Diego on the 27th. Gonna have to try and make it to the game.

I'll be pleased if Riley lands us a Peyton Manning type "prima donna"
-
Pro style, more run than pass, get WR the ball in space. He was quoted recently that they might be adding more spread sets to the offense next year at OSU to better suit the QBs they have coming up.
-
IMO, Riley > Pelini as a game day coach and does a better job at coaching players up through the season. He is as good if not better than Bo with how liked he is by his players and their families. Is he a better recruiter? Don't know about that, but he is a damned good talent evaluator and took the dumpster fire that was Oregon St, and turned them into a team that consistently beat some big names (and had some really bad losses).
I don't love the hire, but with the right coords (still hoping for Frost) and our resources, it's his shot to prove he is top coach (which I don't think he was ever going to have a chance to do at OSU).

I'm shocked, but I'm going to support him. He is a man of integrity, and the least the "greatest fans in college football" can do is give the man a chance.

He beat Wisconsin once?

Like SE, I think the mods were a few steps ahead by disabling rumorville during this time. With 34 pages in a couple days, this has become a one stop shop compared to 34 different threads like in 07. I give them credit.
Thanks, that was my idea.
Confirmed! Knapp is the sock puppet!

I'm over here on the west coast, and all I keep hearing is Scott Frost...oregon peeps are paranoid he is getting the gig and isn't going to have his entire focus on winning the nat champ.
No one is talking about the sweater vest.

Are these quotes from an article? Couldn't you just post the article instead of all of these loose threads?
Probably from the press conference

I think that's a fair point.
In terms of progression of players from frosh to senior, and over the course of games during the season, a lot of players simply didn't seem to develop or improve, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Yes, this has been my biggest reason for wanting to move on, closely followed by the blowouts in big games.

1) David Shaw-Stanford
2) Gary Patterson-TCU
3) Jim Mora Jr.-UCLA - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
4) Jerry Kill-Minnesota
Don't really know what their buyouts are, just a wishlist.

We have enough top tier talent to overcome our coaching staff against mediocre teams.

Whoooo! 9 wins!
-
If we win, and we fire Tim Beck and Papuchis at least I mean, that'll be nice.
The defense has been the sole good thing we've had this season. If we're replacing a coach, replace Beck. But Paps should be safe.
408 begs to differ

DPE! We can at least root for the players!

PSA of the day:
Loose: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/loose
Lose: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lose
I believe one of the posts above had some sarcasm in it about being confused about the wording.

I'm not even sure if recruiting is the issue. I see little player development, game to game, year to year. Sure, some players transcend, Suh, Abdullah, David, Prince, RG, but for the most part, Bo's teams don't improve much through the season. I bet if we play Minn at the beginning of the year, we win, by a good margin. They were able to coach their guys up, keep improving through the year, give a game to Ohio St. and beat us on the road.
-
Maybe nine wins is not a reason to fire a coach (if we get to that point) but perhaps the failure to ever to better than that year over year is a reason. To me the reason to be carfull in that if you can the guy too soon other good coaches may say , hey I dont want to go coach at Nebraska they don't even give you a chance to succeed, so you end up in the spot we had when Solich was let go. I dont know but I thing around the country it would not look like a ruthless move to let Bo go at this time. Who knows.
I think 7 years is enough time. The entire country sees the failure that is Bo. Money won't be an issue either and will help us land a name.
-
Beck is my #1. Kills any momentum this team gets. Would just him gone fix the issues? Don't know
You must not have watched the defense last week.

Yeah, if he's ok with losing like this, year after year, he needs to be on the next Amtrak out of Lincoln.
When Should You Go For Two?

I don't think the OP or 538 is arguing to go for it every time, rather there are gonna be times that you're better off going for 2 than 1, and perhaps an opportunity to give yourself an advantage that some coaches aren't taking.
