Yep agree. I also think it's reasonable to think that both the blowout losses that have happened will happen again - AND - (gasp) someday, the stars will align for Bo and NU sometime where 1 or more championships will happen. There are some serious flaws....but honestly...they aren't THAT far off......

Some non-stubborn changes and some luck in recruiting and scheduling (again) and it is honestly reasonable to see a championship happening.

LOL - OK pal. It is possible to see both perspectives vs being so zeroed in on an agenda. I didn't quantify my statement, so you are probably just interpreting it for me to say that NU and Bo are on the cusp and aren't trying to insult me, who you don't know. I didn't say they are on the cusp. I don't think they are much further than a few steps in the right direction away either.

Whether I think Bo could actually or would actually take the right steps....well I didn't offer my opinion because it doesn't apply here.

I beg to differ sir it sure looks like you are of that opinion by your post, about achieving a championship

  3. I dont think Bo is willing to overhaul the staff. I really dont. Maybe if Eichorst sits him down and tells him its that or nothing but even then I dont think he will.

And when he won't change will you finally say he has to go?

  4.

If you want me to say hes the worst coach ever Im not doing that. But if you read what I said youll see Im just as fed up as everyone. Somethings gotta give. Hes now had more time in the Big Ten than the Big 12 and we are essentially exactly where we were when we came in.

So what would you really like that something to be?

I want an overhaul on the staff. If he is to be retained he needs coordinators that can offer up schemes that are beneficial. No more yes men, no more Ohio pals. If he cant do that he needs to be replaced.

Fair enough. From what you have seen from Bo do you think that will happen?

You don't get it do you? it is not about which offense you run it is about the big picture. You need an intelligent coach with an ability to surround yourself with good solid people and then show leadership to move us forward and away from being a national laughing stock

    You won't say it, but I will....lol...

It is about what offense you run.

    2013 - FreeShoesU - Pro Style/West Coast.

    2012 - Bammer - Pro Style

    2011 - Bammer - Pro Style

    2009 - Bammer - Pro Style

    2007 - LSU - Pro Style

    2004* - USC - Pro Style

    2003 - USC/LSU - Pro Style, both

    2002 - tOSU - Pro Style

    2001 - Da U - Pro Style

    2000 - Sooners - Pro Style

    1999 - FreeShoesU - Pro Style

    1998 - Tennessee - Pro Style

    1997 - Us & TSUN - Option/Pro Style

2010 Auburn, 2008 Florida, 2005 Texas don't fit in that category. Why? Look at who their QBs were:

2010 Auburn - sCam Newton. Currently Starting QB for the Carolina Panthers.

2008 Florida - Chris Leak and Tim Tebow (Leak is about to be out of a job cause Muschamp just got fired, and Tebow SHOULD be playing for some of these NFL teams that need QBs).

2005 Texas - Vince Young. Well.....he's not good with $$$, what can one say?

But still. All three had freaks of nature at QB. That's why they won.

You will never get 4* and 5* players here on a consistent basis if the offense they play in college won't propel them to the next level. Period, end of story.

And you'll never get those guys here if you don't have a ball control, play action type offense that isn't predicated on your QB playing lights out football every game. Ask Bucky about that (Stave 7-11 46 yards, 1 TD).

You are missing point We could run alot of styles here some more fitted to our players and geography but what good would it do IF YOU CAN'T COACH!

  7. Thats pretty much where Im at. Just beyond disappointed. I really wanted Bo to work out. Im a fan of his style and think he is a great person. That doesnt win us games though clearly. This schedule was more than do able. If tOSU had our schedule they would probably be #1 by now. The two biggest games were losses. Two of the biggest cupcake games were sloppy as hell wins.

I really thought we would turn a corner this year. Now Im sitting here dreading going to the game this weekend. DREADING IT! Ive never felt like this during a week where I knew I was going to Memorial Stadium on Saturday.....this just feels wrong.

Ive supported Bo for 7 years now. Id like to say it wasnt in vain. But I know we arent winning a conference title this year. I dont think we will win 11 games even if we win our next two. My batch of kool aid is flat and for the first time I dont think next year will be better. This sucks. All weekend the uppity folks with the "I told you so" attitude got to enjoy the latest bed crapping. Thats where we are as a fanbase. Husker fans using an embarrassing loss to rub other Husker fans face in said crappy bed. This isnt fun anymore.

You still don't really get it do you red? I see you still wanting to put the blinders on despite what your eyes have seen. The complete fall from grace on a national level as bad as Callahan, hell in many ways worse. Bo pelini unless he has a total brain transplant is NOT a head coach at least not at this level. Look back the only success he really had against quality teams was when he had some of Callies recruits can't you see? Please look at it without the emotion involved

  8.

sd'sker, you need to stop. You just ran out all my +1's.

being in the much maligned "bo-leaver" group, i have had a lot bottled up. and being told time and again that people like me were trolls and dicks for wanting bo gone last year and that it is impossible to fire a 9-win coach with a +70% win percentage who are now saying bo needs to go, well it's got the blood boiling a little bit.

I hear ya brother it is called blinders off vindication!

  9.

Frost's apparent refusal to move laterally is partially (perhaps primarily) due to some hard feelings with Bo from a few years back, right?

Frost currently earns $400,000 per year. Beck earns $700,000. If Bo was no longer in the picture and we offered frost a 75% pay raise, do you honestly believe he turns it down? It's very difficult to imagine him doing so.

Also, Helfrich is 41 years old. If Frost is holding out hope of replacing him, he's got a long wait.

Again... Why do people want Frost??? He essentially runs the SAME offense as Beck does!!! :LOLtartar

if you watch what Oregon does and what Nebraska does and think they are one and the same you are insane, Oregon's offense puts Beck's offense to shame

My bad. You're absolutely correct and all we need is for Scott Frost to swoop in with his coaching pedigree and change TA into Mariota. Say what, one Spring Practice as a timeline? Oh, and while you're getting Moglia to oversee all of this, kindly inform him of who will and will not be part of his staff. Best to start off letting them know who's really in charge.

You don't get it do you? it is not about which offense you run it is about the big picture. You need an intelligent coach with an ability to surround yourself with good solid people and then show leadership to move us forward and away from being a national laughing stock

  10. Hypothetical. Maybe this was posted elsewhere already. Lets say Beck lands the job at Kansas and to help his friend Bo keep his job at Nebraska he takes paps with him.... Honestly if we get a good OC and Bo can be hands off on D I think he will work out. Bo can recruit players love him he runs a clean program

You just don't really get it do you? BO is the PROBLEM!!!!!

  11.

Beck and Pap definitely need to go. Keep Bo and tell him to hire seasoned coordinators or he can leave also. This was beyond embarrassing.

I'll go with this answer. I'll give Bo another year IF he cleans house, no excuses for this crap to happen. If he doesn't make the changes then I would have to consider getting rid of Bo.

You would consider it huh, you sir are a delusional glutton if you think this trainwreck is somehow gonna get straightened out with Bo at the helm! don't you get it HE IS THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. 6 meaningless, cupcake wins.

A last second squeaker win against another cupcake.

A 10 point win against a former power.

A not as close as the final score seems against MSU.

An embarrassing ass kicking in a game that we were leading 17-3 at the end of the 1st Qtr.

A chance to beat the final two cupcakes (And its certainly not a sure thing.) on our schedule.

Happy with this 8-2 record? Balderdash!

How does Pelini save his job? Immediately after we lose whatever Bowl game we play in he fires most of his assistants including the OC,

DC, OL, DL and S&C coaches.

Its a short fuse though. Significant things have to improve or goodbye after next year and there's a possibility of getting the same

thing that Weiss got this year at Kansas.

If there is a coach with a good resume (Jim Tressel for example) who's interested in coaching Nebraska then I say Pelini can't save his

    job.

    T_O_B

NEXT YEAR!!!! you are a freakin glutton for punishment, next year and then next year and then I really think we make a jump"next year" It makes me want to vomit

  13.

He makes 58k a week and has had multiple incidents with other "humans". With all the stories about how he treats some people it makes it very difficult for me to have any sympathy for the highest paid employee of the state

If Bo was a single guy without a family, I'd largely agree with you. However, when you factor his family in, it just makes it sad.

I am have been sad for the last freakin 5 yrs!!!

  14. It needs to not be Bo's scheme, that's one of the problems. Outside, proven coordinators with free reign given to run things as they feel they need to. If Bo can't do that, then yeah, it's probably time to start shopping. I certainly wouldn't clean house without being pretty sure we could get someone worthwhile, and with good experience, to come coach here.

Eby you are the kind of fan that will hold this program back forever, Look at oklahoma they had a couple of bad coaches but they weren't afraid to make the necessary changes. It is not going to get better unless we do what it takes.

  15.

Why not try for Tressel or even Gruden? We have the cash in the coffers....just spitballin here. But I think the Pelini era is done.

Here’s the problem with Gruden. Here are his last six seaons in coaching:

    7-9

    5-11

    11-5

    4-12

    9-7

    9-7

One good season in six. Gruden is clearly a product of hype. Would not want him. Would substantially prefer Bill Cowher.

I can't believe people even throw out Gruden's name anymore, or Cowher. That bs was in full swing in 2003.

First of all its pointless to discuss unless there is even a hint that Bo is leaving, which there isn't yet. Second, lets at least be realistic with the coaching choices. The only realistic choice I've seen thrown around is Scott Frost, and I understand the issue with not wanting another rookie head coach.

If we absolutely couldn't get a proven head coach to come do you really think scott could not match pelinis record!!!!! With the teams we schedule One of the main attributes for a coach is to be intelligent and adaptable, mister pelini is neither by a long shot

  17. Prior to this game, I really thought that in a "better system" TA would thrive. TA is not good. Not at all. If, and its a big if, Bo isn;t fired and neither is beck, they need to raid the JUCO ranks any get a QB. As abysmal as TA has been the past few games, Stanton has got to be questioning his decision to come here. Won the Elite 11. TA was like 4 for 15 today, 1 pick and a fumble or 2. Damn. Stanton didn't even get a sniff. I know the coaches said that when he was on, he looked liked a big time QB, but when he was off he was off. TA was off all day........

Lo I think we had a conversation about this chuckleshuffle;)

  18.

This is not the coaches fault, this is on the players...the coaches hold zero, I repeat ZERO fault in this game.... - signed BOleivers

Man the crap that comes out of some peoples opinion astounds me this rests completely on the coaching staff. No game plan, no adjustments and 2 weeks to do both.

You're right. The players have 0 responsibility for the loss. It's all the coaches fault

The crap that comes out of no haters astounds me. We had a game plan. We dominated for the first quarter and the players just quit. It was embarrassing.

Mo all I can say is you are an ID....T

  19.

Yawn. This will be a big game.......only if we lose.

We've won plenty of games, big games even, in Pelinis tenure. But the losses are the only ones that some people want to remember.

It controls the West. Its pits the two best backs in FBS. Wisky has the "#1" D in the country. Wisky is 5-0 at home this year. They are ranked. The last time we met on national TV the took us to the woodshed and hung 70 on us. No one picks us to win. We have a habit of "chocking" in these games....

Yea, this is big. A lot rides on this. NU getting over the hump, shrugging off some demons, becoming relevant etc......

The program needs this win. Desperately IMO......

I agree. But if we do win,, then the Bo Leavers will lump this game into the group of other so called unimpressive wins under Bo. It won't be considered a big game by them.

A 2 loss big team! that just made the top25! that is what we now call a big game a must win game! it used to be we were ranked in the top 10 and playing someone else there was a big game . Lo how the mighty have fallen

  20.

My biggest criticism of Pelini, and also Beck. I just don't feel like they do anything specific for each opponent. I feel like they just do their thing every week and hope it works. Most of the time it does, but I still feel like I never see any special planning.

These big games present special challenges and schemes.

this is what you get with a coach that is not smart enough to be a head coach and surrounds himself self with other under qualified individuals. You can get by with that until you have to play someone with a pulse.

    Polo sock?

nope just a guy that has watched this team we call our own for 40+ yrs. and is saddened by its slide into mediocrity
