For those wondering why Riley can acknowledge Lee and Anderson on Twitter by name, it's because they've already signed papers to Nebraska.

Pretty savvy move by the 20-year veteran Riley to use the rule change to his advantage to acknowledge Lee and Anderson like that.
  2. I really have no idea who Riley has in mind for his OC. He's a pro-set guy and so the idea he's bringing Frost seems totally unlikely to me. Honestly, I know Tedford from Cal is wanting to get back into the college ranks, he and Riley have a bit of a relationship and so I wouldn't be shocked to see Tedford applying for the job. After that...it's really unknown. Riley is the OC in his offense. Everyone else is a QB coach. I wouldn't be 100% shocked if he steals the OC at Washington (J. Smith) but again...a bit of an unknown. Smith is a very talented guy and is getting a rough stick in Washington but if he isn't approached by Riley I wouldn't be surprised at all. A complete mystery really.

Thanks very much for your insight, RileyMan. It is much appreciated on this board.

Quick question...and I apologize if it has been asked already. Did John Garrett (and Langsdorf before him) call any plays or did Riley call them all? I don't understand naming an OC if that person isn't going to call any plays. That person is just a glorified position coach.

If it's being announced tomorrow, it's not Frost. SE would have waited until after the PAC12 championship game to name Frost.

What if they announce JT tomorrow today and wait until Sunday for Frost?

    That's a possibility, sure.

  4. Re-watched the "Youngstown Boys" 30 for 30 documentary last night (it's on Netflix for those who have it), and it re-emphasized my feeling that Tressel would be a great hire for NU. Proven winner. Great recruiter. Terrific sideline demeanor. And he's a teacher...not some hot head who acts like a child when he doesn't get his way. Sure, he has some skeletons in his closet, but so do a lot of other coaches.

Having said that, I don't think he's interested in coaching again. I think he's where he wants to be right now (in Youngstown). But I hope I'm wrong.

  6. Shaw is my absolute number one choice for HC. he's making a cool $5 mil though at Stanford who has become quite the powerhouse lately. More so than us despite the off year. Still my número uno choice.

Agreed. He's always been my #1 choice as well, but so far I haven't heard his name mentioned much.

His offensive philosophy (old school, power football) would fit in just perfect at NU. He'd recruit great out of California as well.
