I did not view this as a glorified scrimmage. I really liked some of the emotion shown by the kids, especially by Sherman on defense. The ball was on the ground way too much for my liking. Perhaps some of that can be attributed to the defense and some to players trying to prove or over prove themselves. Rhule and staff will have to work hard to clean things up because we are nowhere close to being good enough to overcome a lot of turnovers come fall.
Sims and Kemp showed some nice things. So we have to feel good about that.
it was great to see Frank back in the stadium. The huge smile on his face just shortly after halftime said it all.

And they copied it from Miller and Paine. Were you there for that?
Was wondering if someone would post the tie-in with Miller & Paine. Runza did that for several years then backed off. Miller & Paine had the absolute best best cinnamon roll in Lincoln back in the day. Great store.

There have been many sentiments on here about the family and prayers and im for all of that. But i wanted to start something about where do we go from here as the program and university. What damage control do you think will be needed for recruiting in keeping kids here and the ones that were already spoken to. How will the university move forward, we had quite a few images and promotional videos made with mickey, will all of those be removed. How does Matt Rhule move beyond this, does he try to go and get his own ace recruiter, does the check book open up further. Just wanted your folks thoughts on this.
Perfectly fair questions. The timing could not be better. I wish I had some decent answers. Husker Nation has been through a lot and now we get today’s news. Thanks for your post.

That's what I'm saying - this could very well be cause. Not sure why that possibility rankles you so deeply.
At one of my previous places of work, we fired two contractual employees for arrests we deemed violated their contract language, and it was something that had been done before and has probably happened since. There was never any fear from our legal team of losing some kind of wrongful termination suit.
But, you're good. Obviously you know better.
Absolutely spot on with regards to contract language being sufficient.

This is a bad take to look at it, but im sorry if this is part our fault as fans. Putting so much pressure on people and some people may not be able to and then they snap. It happens all the time, this job this team is alot of pressure and now this happened. Maybe he had hoped that he could really get that job and he didnt and he took it hard, thats how life is but i guess. I dont know, im just completely blown away. My wife thought i was yelling that someone died. This is just unbelievable
There is no question that stress can cause people to do things they would not normally do.

Sad to see. No one should pass judgment at present.

Indigestion will do that to a guy!
There's an outside chance of Aranda, Kiffin and Klieman with Klieman the most likely of those three. I'm with you there. He's a good coach and would do well here.
Klieman has been at the top of my list for nearly two months now. I would to see him chosen but have doubts it will happen.

Can we all slow down on the comments for a bit? Back on page 426 I predicted a new coach would be named on Page 678.
Well, to be honest, you best get Trev on the Bat Phone and quick!

what is "The Booth" - is that the Kansas stadium nickname or something?
There is apparently a Booth Family Hall of Athletics.

I believe it’s a fair statement at this point to say the situation could be very fluid. We’ve had recent reports of Klieman moving up, Ruhle being close then moving back, Meyer coming (doubtful), and Leipold gaining momentum. All the while Mickey Joseph’s name is not exactly going away.
About the only constant, other than the numerous guesses, is that Leipold’s wife, Kelly, has not come out to say she no longer plans to be back at The Booth next fall.

It sounds like there's been a push for Fickell. Not sure how accurate that is or how successful Trev would be convincing Luke.
Can you tell us more about this supposed “push” for Fickell? Source, if possible.

I’m thinking it’s more like people grumbling about fighting that northwest wind while walking to their vehicles.

Ok… I’ll bite, are we going to be happy?
All fun aside as we continue to await things, I hope so but have my doubts at the same time. I listened to Alberts on Husker Radio last night. I knew he wasn’t going to say anything of note and he didn’t. He is, as they say, “corporate smooth.”My sense of things tells me there is no way Urban Meyer is the guy as he seems to have a pretty good gig at present. Nor is Deion Sanders. Matt Campbell’s star has faded this season yet he still may get the call. Dave Aranda was interesting at one time also.
Lane Kiffin would be great but I don’t know if he would want to inherit the mess he may observe. I have no idea about Gary Patterson. Matt Rhule can spend his days figuring various ways to invest his millions. Why come here? Lance Leipold knows Nebraska and may very well want to get out of a shaky Big XII Conference. I would prefer Chris Klieman of Kansas State, to be honest.
No one named Stoops is coming. Luke Fickell, from a distance, seems locked in Ohio. Again, why come here?

Hot damn, this the most concrete clue we have. Was this taken from Trev’s desk? R we poaching Mike McDaniel from the dolphins?!?
I appreciate the inquiry but am sworn to secrecy until 7 p.m. on November 25.

With his record, Leipold appears to be a guy who can get a program to the 6-8 game win range. After a few years....Not sure fans have the patience for that. Unsure his name moves the needle to really get recruits or transfers in ASAP. I am also humbled that we might be taking the coach of what I thought was the shining example of the crappiest P5 team... Maybe that's us now.
If we were going that route, I'd much prefer Klieman tbh. By a lot.
Spot on re: Klieman. I posted back in September that I liked him. I thought his name made a lot more sense than others that have been mentioned ad nauseam.

You brought up two things on which I wanted to comment. HH fumbled after taking that very hard hit. I could not believe that play was called after the type of hit he took. He should not have been put in that position. The ball should have been handed off.
I literally shake my head when we line up in the shotgun on 4th and 1. Unfortunately I don’t see this changing
