Yesterday it was reported that there was a special BoR meeting to approve Rhule's contract.

A lot of things are reported.

It’s true a lot of things are reported. It’s also true that it is now November 4 and not October 4. I would expect by this point in time that Alberts has had some serious discussions with current coaches or with representatives of same. I think it’s very possible that a few have taken a hard look at our needed rebuild and decided to stay put  for whatever those reasons might be.

It's hard to keep track anymore, but yesterday's loss felt like one of the worst in recent memory; a sloppy performance that headed downhill fast, at a time when the players should be playing their heart out for the new coach, and the new coach should have had the players better focused.

It was way too familiar. The "prepared to lose" body language should be gone by now, even if you're getting your a$$ kicked. My window of optimism for Mickey is quickly closing.

Spot on with regard to yesterday’s loss. It just “felt different.” Joseph had two weeks to prepare the team and that’s the best he could do? I realize he couldn’t just bring in  new players but yesterday was very disappointing. Like air coming out of a balloon.

We should start a thread where we discuss who the next Nebraska HC is.

What a novel idea! This one got so nuts yesterday that a few members were discussing a possible replacement for whoever gets named as coach in Lincoln.

I'll never understand why a good coach or player goes to a school like this, unless the education is the main goal and football is secondary (for the player).

Just wow! When I first saw this I thought, “This had to have been faked somehow.”  Talk about a lack of support…

    Wow

In 24 hours, this thing went from page 334 to 349!  Before I rewind and go through it all, is it worth the trip?  Or nay?

    :snacks:

It can be exhausting at times but well worth the entertainment value in more ways than one can imagine.

I'm rooting for both Adrian Martinez and Casey Thompson this season.

I think they're both in better positions than they were last year.

Would Nebraska have won an extra game or two this year with Adrian's legs?

I don't know. But year five of Scott Frost and Adrian Martinez seemed like a recipe for regret.

Fully agree. Martinez needed a fresh start and a chance to have fun in his final season. I am very happy for him.

Kleiman would be a Tier II hire but the only job I see him leaving for is Iowa (childhood fan, Cedar Falls guy)

    Inside baseball moment:

Coaches dream of the organizational alignment he's got. His AD and he have been together for years and have a fantastic relationship.

Iowa's situation is really fragile. Kirk is a few more losses than expected from losing an important eligibility requirement for the HOF (.600 record) and there's probably +300 or better odds he retires this offseason. It's a perfect storm of pretty significant on and off the field stuff (lawsuits, buyout, failson, etc.). The AD is probably more likely to die on that hill than Kirk and if he goes, the new deputy AD would be a good hire, but if not, they'll probably need someone with alignment with the new coach OR a guy with some cachet. Kirk's been pretty resistant to NIL and portal stuff, so they'll need new staffers and other resources to modernize.

Stoops is on the record about it being his dream job and Kleiman isn't but it's pretty obvious. Would probably be an easy hire for them if they didn't promote Woods and retain Barta, but Kleiman is probably the most likely hire there.

    Unrelated, but still interesting.

    Thanks for your insights.

I have to give you a thumbs up for not having Meyer or Sanders on your list. I really like Gundy but he very well may be too ingrained at OSU. I will also give you props for spelling Kiffin properly as it is too often misspelled. Stoops is interesting also but I am not sure he would come to Lincoln.

One name I would add is Chris Klieman of Kansas State.

Living in Tulsa and watching him win the way he has while playing second fiddle to OU :ou1:  I would take him in a heartbeat.  He develops players and finds guys to fit his game plan.  He seems to always find the right combination of RB, WR, & QB.

I am in total agreement with you. Would you say he is too ingrained at OSU to consider coming here?

Wondering if Turner has to sit out part of the next game? Not too familiar with the unsportsmanlike ejections

Right. I don’t think I have seen that before. My first thought is it’s not the same as an ejection for targeting.
