  1. I can't believe that fans of the school that gave the NFL two of the dirtiest players in its history, Richie Incognito and Ndamukong Suh, is STILL whining about getting beat up by those big, bad Mormon boys from Provo.

You claim to play big boy football, but the incessant whining is just getting sad. I get it. You had a couple of guys injured by questionable tackles. Oh, wait, just one. sh#t happens in a football game. We lost our star nose tackle for 4-6 weeks to a chop block. But we're not still crying about those dirty, mean Cornhuskers. sh#t happens and you move on.

At least you didn't get nut-punched. Not that it would matter, because how can a nut punch hurt when you have no balls?

  2.

Not only was the booing for the Sutton non-call loud, but it happened again later in the game. There were several instances where contact was initiated by BYU defenders well out of bounds and no calls were made. When Foltz got hurt, the crowd exploded again.

Yeah, it looked to me that BYU was leg hunting on many of their tackles. Not sure if that's how they are coached to tackle or what.
What the hell are you guys watching in place of football? Are you that big a bunch of Nancies that you now think low tackles are dirty? They're part of the f'ing game and always have been. BYU does it, Nebraska does it, everyone does it. There's nothing dirty about a low tackle. Fir hell's sake, your guys made an almost identical tackle on our #11 on the first play after you downed the punt on our 1-yard line.

Preator should have been flagged, but it's arguable whether he knew the receiver had the ball or not. It was in bounds (if you've argued it wasn't, see an optometrist), and it wasn't dirty. Your guys do are same thing. Are your guys dirty players?

LOL, I love it when you called us "Nancies". However, the play was dirty. The ball was well past Sutton, on the ground, and Preator dove at the back of Sutton's legs with his shoulders. That is not a "low tackle" that is a cheap shot.

Same f'ing tackle. Watch the film.

By the way, some of you guys laughed when I brought up our Elite 11 freshman backup QB.

And for the record, if a Nebraska player ever tackled someone like this, it would still be a cheap shot. He was leg hunting and he succeeded in taking him out. He tried to get Westy earlier in the game, but luckily that time it didn't work.

So, like when we lost our NT on an uncalled chop block by one of your linemen and RB, whi hit him square in the side of the knee?

I understand why you're upset, but these things happen on both sides. And low tackles downfield are far from illegal.

I guess tackling at the legs from behind when he clearly saw that Sutton didn't catch the ball was my problem. Yeah, it was a dirty hit and he did exactly what he set out to do: get a cheap shot hit in. I don't recall the Huskers doing that to your NT, but maybe I missed it.

the refs could have missed it, but sometimes people misunderstand that blocks below the waist between the tackles are legal and regular. It is only a penalty if the player is engaged with another lineman

    Which is what happened.

  6. Hell of a game, guys. To be honest, I think the win helps us more than the loss hurts you.

Unfortunately, Taysom's football career is probably over. Lis franc injury, if you haven't heard. The silver lining is our freshman backup looked pretty good. I think UCLA and Missouri are probably our toughest games left.

Your team looks well-coached. Armstrong is impressive.

I guess we're due for an improbable Hail Mary win every 35 years or so.

I think you guys will do well this year. Good luck on the rest of your season.

I'm really nervous about this game. Hill scares me with his legs and their tall receivers. Hope our team comes to play and earning those blackshirts will pay off. I got us to win by 6

How many ears of corn did they have to shuck to earn those blackshirts?

I think the real question is do you have to run more stairs for punching an opponent or for losing to a fellow mid major like Nevada?

Thanks for bringing up the nightmare. That was the only game I was able to attend last year.

  8.

Which QB is more vital to his team's success?

    Tommy Armstrong

    Taysom Hill

Taysom Hill. He is the lynch pin holding that team together. Look at the skid they went on last year when he went down.

You're correct. When healthy, Taysom is one of the best QB's in the country, which we saw last year with him starting to appear in the national Heisman discussions after game 4. He would be a huge loss to any team, not just BYU.

However, there were a bunch of other injuries last year that exacerbated his loss. Also, last year's backup QB had actually moved on and intended to leave football. The coaches actually had to convince him to return for 2014, as QB depth was poor.

This year, though the backups are freshmen, one was a blue chip recruit, and the next two are sons of former NFL players (Merrill Hoge and Koy Detmer). Still a better situation than a guy who had to be begged to not quit football.

  10. Im just waiting for the BYU guys to bring up Lawrence Phillips...

Ted Bundy went to the University of Utah. We used up our murderer smack years ago. Lawrence Phillips is small potatos.

  11. To be clear, my preference would be for BYU to be at full strength with no game suspensions. I sure as heck don't expect the few guys that might be suspended to make a difference in the outcome of the game. The only player BYU has that would have any big impact on the outcome of the game is Taysum Hill and to my knowledge he will be playing (and hopefully healthy).

The problem with the brawl and the discussion about players being suspended has everything to do with what would appear to be the way discipline should be handled. It's just not a good look IMO to brag about how you do the right things but it doesn't feel like the right thing may happen. Maybe Bronco will get it right but it sure does seem like he's leaving his options open. IMO there are at least a couple players from that brawl that should have absolutely no expectation of playing in this game so I can't understand the hesitancy to commit to it now rather than after the game. BM will probably do the right thing in the end. But it doesn't have anything to do with wanting those players out so we have a better chance. If we can't beat your best, we deserve to lose.

Oh, he's committed to the discipline. Don't confuse not telling the media about suspensions with not disciplining the players. The players know who's not playing.

Lax discipline for rule breaking has never been a fault of Bronco.

  12. BYU Fan has been flapping his gums about how Koroma is going to dominate Maliek Collins this game. They've also been saying that, if Koroma doesn't play, they have no chance of winning.

Koroma was the guy at the very beginning of the fight who pushed, or got pushed, or did something, and from there it all started. He was the guy hit on the head with the helmet, then buried under an avalanche of Memphis players.

Most teams hate him by the end of the game. Happens when you spend 60 minutes getting shoved onto your ass.

  13. From a BYU board:

"Koroma will not be suspended. According to @byupractice who seems to be pretty dialed in, Nacua, Takitaki, and Dye are suspended for that game and Langi is suspended for half of the game."

    Koroma - starting C

    Nacua - starting FS

Takitaki - not on depth chart

    Dye - 2nd string RB

    Langi - staring MLB

Takitaki is not on the 2-deep only because of his suspension. His suspension is not related to the brawl, but to an on-campus theft incident and has previously been announced.

Nacua's suspension is pretty clear by the depth chart, too, as one of the starting CB's has been removed from the FCB depth chart and listed as Nacua's backup at safety; he will be starting in Nacua's place on Saturday.

  14. Memphis announced 6 suspensions from the brawl. If BYU has any less than that, well. That'd be a bad look.

Not really, when the brawl was precipitated by 5 or 6 Memphis players jumping our center.

  15.

No suspensions. Awesome! Beat their best, so there are no excuses afterward.

As a coach...I like it a lot more when teams I play are missing important players. I always have. Never cared about excuses afterwards if we won.

Where did you see this, LSLHusker?

Earlier in the thread. "Mendenhall won't announce suspensions until after the Nebraska game."

Think that meant that he will announce who got sat for the game after the game, at least that is how I took it.

I took it to mean that he's a chickensh#t and may not hand down punishment if it causes them any disadvantage in the game. Apparently rules and behavior take a back seat to competitive advantage at BYU. Wouldn't want the players actually being held accountable for their actions if it might have adverse consequences for the team. At least that's what I'm getting from his noncommittal horsesh#t. Sorry but a brawl like that..... the punishment should not be conditioned on anything.

Bronco's a lot of things, but chickensh#t isn't one of them. Players are being suspended; we already know some of them. He'll identify which players were suspended after the game.

  16.

Just a question. Do you grow hair on your palms if you husk your own corn?

Yeah. But that hair wears off because we handle our ivory torpedoes so much.

Well, you do what you can when you can't get anyone to do it for you.

  17. If BYU is the world beater these Cougar fans talk it up to be, why would a handful of suspensions hurt their chances of winning?

None. That's why you schedule cupcake games like Ball State, Weber State, and Nebraska at the beginning of the season - so you can make these kinds of disciplinary moves without it actually costing you a win.

  18. Nobody should be suspended for the brawl. Memphis started it by having 5 guys jump our center. The only BYU players who should be suspended are those who did not come to the defense of their teammate. And all of last year's seniors.

  19. Word is, there's Nacua (starting safety), Takitaki (starting OLB and one of our 2 best rushers), and Dye (young depth) who are suspended for the full game. Takitaki is suspended for on-campus theft, not for the brawl.

Another starting LB, Langi, is suspended for a half, not for the brawl, but for breaking team rules related to the bowl.

  20. I think what will surprise Nebraska fans and players the most is how physical BYU will play. Unlike a Sun Belt team, even Nebraska isn't going to be able to just push BYU around. You're going to actually have to outplay them to win.
