I do not think the bad D is Diaco's fault.  I do not think the players are trying.

I do not think you have seen a group of players on the field committing 100%, and picking up what coach is laying down.

I think the fact that he is history here is a foregone conclusion.

But to me this is akin to hiring a mechanic to fix your car, then firing him just as he finishes laying out your disassembled heads on the bench..

How much upside does he have?  That is the only sticking point for me.  Maybe not as much as I would like.

Don't fool yourself.  The D is absolutely Diaco's fault.  No fire in any of the players and the scheme is absolute garbage.  Both of those fall strongly on the DC... the 2nd more than the first, but they both are coach-able.  The fact he is not doing it is absolutely 100% his fault.  Not sure why people want to give him a pass.  He's not that good, he's never been that good, and here he is a just godawful.  Maybe he can tell his alien friends about it and get them to commiserate.

This is actually surprising. UCF has a pretty good marketing department because I thought Orlando was really starting to pick up on this football thing, and add their message board interest in Scott Frost, I would have thought UCF games would be a rather popular ticket.

The UCF folks were calling each other out on the Rivals board for the poor attendance.  Apparently it was raining or did rain or something, but still.... looks bad.  Even they are now admitting to themselves that Frost has more than money reasons to move on after this season.

Looks like Diaco's D is just getting into stride...

Bend but don't break is the dumbest, most moronic defensive philosophy I've ever heard of.  It's like playing prevent for 4 quarters.  Godawful.  The sooner that nut is gone the better.

I don’t disagree but, selfishly, I was hoping they’d call the time out to try and get POB a touchdown. He played pretty damn well and deserved at least an opportunity to finish off the drive.

Well, maybe that was ostensibly the reason, but I think it would have been better to just let the game go.  POB will have more chances.  No point in getting him injured.

I wanted him fired mid-season; as I predicted the team would quit on him and player development would come to a halt...

At this point, the damage is done. Firing him RN comes with very few positives. Maybe the players get invigorated because its the "beginning of a new chapter," but realistically, you're going against one bad Penn St. team, and an Iowa team that looks far more powerful than Minn, who just roll'd you. I don't see the team getting up for those games; MR, or not.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if MR was canned tomorrow; but I also wouldn't mind allowing our new AD be a man of his word, and let this dumpster fire flame out.

It realistically probably doesn't matter either way, but if any coach ever deserved to be fired for a totally underwhelmingly coached game, where their opponent was considered equal caliber yet totally dominated, this is the coach and this is the game.  This is worse than NIU.

    My thoughts too

Looked and played as completely classless.  Imagine what we would think of an opponent who was getting obliterated and then had the bad taste to call all their timeouts in the last 45 seconds for no purpose other than to delay the game...  looked really, really bad.

Bring Jim Leonhard, defensive coordinator for Wisconsin to Nebraska. Open the check book and pay him more than what Wisconsin is paying him and bring Scott Frost. Two young guys that can really shape the team and have a future. Stop bringing mummies that want to retire.

No.  No more Wisconsin hand me downs.  That’s how we got in this mess to begin with.

Yea, I know 408 is a record against us.  I meant that it will probably be broken.  Now that I think about it I would not be surprised if they break the national record too.  Hopefully PSU practices some new passing plays against us.

Penn State is probably licking their chops and laughing...

    - I don’t think any assistant should be retained besides Parella. Let Frost or whoever is the next coach clean house if he feels like it. I’m really tired of these coaches firing shots at each other.

No one should be retained from this dumpster fire.  Clean house completely.  If that means you sweep out some of the good with the bad, well so be it.  The good will find another home.
