Dude. :) This is a really bad non-answer. I am honesty curious what evidence is there that puts blame on this staff for Bell's departure. Is there anything?

Ultimately that choice is going to go to the player but I’d think Frost or Held would try to at least show Bell the damage he’s doing to himself by leaving now.

Especially if we are going withthe “Frost is trying to be honest with the kids” line that cropped up with Gebbia

Did you read my first post? It's because he was faced with ADVERSITY by by being DEMOTED on the depth chart this week. Held himself said he was butthurt about it. Consequently his true colors showed, showing he wasn't team oriented. Thus going against Frost's culture, thus being off the team now.

Do you want a player that quits on his team because he isn't 1st string now? Think Frost wants that?

Demoted?  It was a wide open RB race with all three seeing ample time.

And it certainly seemed like Frost wanted what Bell had to offer. Seeing how he recruited and signed him when he had a body of work to assess

Great point. Almost made me change my mind

I guess I’d like to know why he had the mindset frost wanted nine months ago when he signed him, and was getting first team reps in practice this week to needing to removed immediately lest he ruin this team.

lol you act like there are dozens of transfers going on. So let's play this out: Frost comes in here and obviously needs to change the culture. People are not "team" oriented. SO, Frost needs to flip the roster around, and bring in new recruits including JUCO players in a very short amount of time in order to begin the task of flipping to the culture he wants. He does this, begins practicing and playing games and finally some of the true personalities come out in some of the players (because, you know, you're true colors show when faced with adversity - you either man the f up or you lay down) Those that have transferred AFTER being demoted on the depth chart have pussed out.

You want those kids on our team when trying to change the culture? Automatically assuming the sky is falling down because Frost can't get everyone to buy in. NO COACH can get every person to buy in. Frankly, I'm happy about these transfers because it shows Frost is actually doing SOMETHING about changing our culture. Get rid of these kids that can't handle adversity and man up when they obviously need to work harder to move up the depth chart. Ridiculous that people are arguing this is a bad situation based solely on the fact he was a Frost recruit.

So, Juco transfer Greg Bell, brought in to flip the roster has to get processed for Juco recruits to flip the roster?

Pose your best theory about what's afoot with Frost's program, please.

In regards to transfers?  It’s starting to look like this staff needs to spend more time with communicating with their players to try and keep them engaged, or even on the team. Hell, I’d say Frost is more than qualified to talk about pros and cons about transferring.

But obviously I am not in the locker room.

Frost ain't going anywhere for at least 3 years. If you hate him being coach so much, there are plenty of other teams not coached by Scott Frost to complain about instead...

You, among many others are mistaking criticism for hatred.

And yes  I feel there’s a problem afoot with the amount of transfers. I’d prefer that he not go down the Charlie Strong at Texas road because that didn’t end well for anyone.

You should try asking him that question. None of us know that answer. Some kids just want to be the bell cow and when he got beat out he left. It's as simple as that.

Hey, I just thought of a guy who could have  asked him that question and makes 5 million dollars a year.

Not so much in the last game.

True. Although there are reports of him getting reps this week in practice and Held said all three were going to see time

I think Riley recruitied players that were susceptible to contracting creampuff syndrome while simultaneously spreading the disease with ice cream. None of which was intentional.

The “ice cream”’comment really is starting to reveal more about the poster making it than the player/coach it’s directed to.

    ?????:dunno

I’ve long been of the opinion he got very complacent during his time here. Though I admit I just googled his stats and he had improvement from his freshman to sophomore year. He regressed hard his junior year, then rallied a little his senior near.

Maybe it’s just me but my memories of him are tapping his helmet to sub out and stories of him bartending rather than trying to get better.

    Anyway. Tangent over.

  11. I think the biggest problem with Nebraska general isn’t the Riley recruits, or the frost recruits or whomever.

Nebraska has an inordinate amount of higher ranked recruits fail to develop or wash out because Nebraska simply doesn’t have enough of them.

Usually we get one or two four star recruits at a position, the fanbase collectively loses its mind over them, and they get to practice and they aren’t pushed by anyone except maybe their position coach. Without another guy of equal rating right behind him, it gets hard to be better. Especially when you know your position is all but cemented barring injury.

Now you might get a Spielman every now again who can self motivate, but I really think it’s rare.

Its hard to have “good on good” when there isn’t nearly enough good going around.

The “stars don’t matter” trope is absolute dreck. We just need more of them. And once they’re here, it needs to make clear they their spot is earned  and we can probably do without our verbal commits having an entire blog about them for half a year too.

MountainMan might be cm husker. He really might.

I think you're trolling this board but I'll respond one more time just in case you're serious. Once a kid chooses to leave, what we say about him on a message board doesn't actually matter. It doesn't put any "negative energy" out into the universe, it doesn't change the way the program is perceived - it doesn't mean anything.

Assuming just for fun that you're not trolling, here's a point blank question just to get down to it - Do you think Frost kicked him off the team?

Because I don't. We have every indication that each player has been given the guidelines as to what it takes to thrive and get playing time for this program. So if a kid leaves...what conclusion should we rationally draw about the situation?

No. I don’t think he was thrown off the team.

Really I just find it strange that he’s gone because he was appearing to be one of the players who was embracing the new staff. And buying in to the point of hurting himself in the weight room.

We arent going to ever know but I’d like to know how we got from there to here

  13. We don’t need Joe Dailey

    We don’t need Harrison Beck

    We don’t need Blaine Gabbert

    We don’t need Jonas Gray

    We don’t need Patrick Witt

     We don’t need Chase Rome

    We don’t need Cody Green

    We don’t need Johnny Stanton

    We don’t need Vincent Valentine

    We don’t need Patrick o’Brien

    We don’t need Tristan Gebbia

    We don’t need Tyjon Lindsay.

We don’t recruit well enough to toss ranked recruits like that away regardless of staff.

    Past being prelude and all

I like that you're standing up for our Husker student athletes. I mean that genuinely.

But what you have in Scott Frost is a guy who went through the Tom Osborne blueprint. A guy who knows that getting the W/L columns straightened out is more than just flashes in the pan or someone who looks good on paper.

The first thing I thought of - just like you - was that he was one of the two guys hospitalized during the winter workouts. But when I see Frost practically tearing up over this team losing I'm going to go ahead and firmly believe that he knows more than we do about what a kid is putting into this thing in the here and now. Whatever happened 5+ months ago is honestly irrelevant in September when you're right in the thick of the season.

The blueprint from 20 years ago might not be correct anymore.

Frost has proven that he can evolve. He is showing that he needs to again

Well the new TheSkers has arrived folks. He will leave once Frost turns this thing around. Dont worry.

Frost is the coach. He’s going to be the coach for a long time. I’m very cool with that

Here’s the thing though. You can say “well he clearly wasn’t what frost wanted” but that’s a way easier sell when you aren’t about to be 0-5.

Like if you’re 3-2 and Lindsay wants to bounce, hey!  Go nuts.

This isnt the situstion. We need depth. We need talent. He’s talented. And he bought in to the point of being hospitalized. What’s changed?

It's obvious that's your thought.  You have nothing to support that thought other than constantly trying to talk up Riley and talk down Frost.  But you're welcome to it.

I don’t remember bringing up Riley once in the thread of him being not fit for being here this year

Frost is 0-4, soon to be 0-5 and soon to have a worse record than the aforementioned coach and you’re correct

in me questioning things he’s done on the road to this stellar season.

Thanks for confirming what I said.

Pretty sure he is one of the guys Frost is referring to who wasn't "buying in".  So my thought is you're wrong.

My thought is he’s shown he’s bought in and got kidney failure for his troubles. Now they’re 0-4, soon to be 0-5, people are deciding to scapegoat and he’s leaving.

My thought also is depth is a hell of an issue.

So this post has nothing to do with your previous posts.

Lamar Jackson was seeing playing time as well.  Emphasis on "was".

Your post has nothing to do with your previous posts.

Heres a guy who bought in, got put in the hospital over it, recovered, saw playing time afterwards and is now leaving. Thoughts?
