It looks like a lot of people here don't like Sam McKewon, but here are his thoughts on the depth chart.

    http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/sam-mckewon-s-takes-on-the-husker-depth-chart/article_e2f0f422-6e1e-11e6-97bf-83d2de3f0f7a.html

His thoughts on the depth chart are fine, all he is trying to do with tweeting out that pictures of the depth chart is stir a pot.

I look at all of the walk-on talent as a positive. :dunno

Depending on the walk-on program to fill a large number of holes in the depth chart is an indictment on the program's abilities to recruit and develop talent.

It is an indictment on the previous staff to recruit and develop talent. The jury is still out on this staff, but looks very positive.

  2. Not implying that Riley can't win here but to build a consistent winner that avoids 500 seasons we will need a dominate running game. Also Elf you said that we lost to FSU because Osborne called to many running plays against a stacked box. What exactly did he change in his offense from that game until he retired? Please enlighten me I must have missed it. There's no doubt that the changes we made on defense started that incredible run.

Not sure why you think Solich was the downfall of Nebraska football? That started the day Callahan was hired. I'd take Frank's resume over Riley's, Callahans, or Pelini's any day of the week.

Lets not start this again, but he is correct, Frank was lazy at recruiting and a poor CEO. 7-7 was the beginning of the end of the run. There is no disputing that.

  3. He in in effect saying that Riley is lying about running wanting to run the ball more. He says we are all fearing this will happen. We are not! I stand by it, a pathetic post It could very well be that Newby ahead of Devine is a tip of the hat toward the pass over the run.

Little shocked that Newby is listed ahead of Ozigbo and without the "Or".

Riley and Langsdorf will always go with the RB who is best in the pass game. Ozigbo may end up with more carries this year or may end up being the #1 guy later this season, but Riley and Langsdorf want that versatility at RB.

From what I saw last year from running and catching. Gimme Ozigbo

I would also rather have Ozigbo, but we aren't Riley or Langsdorf. They have different thoughts on the RB position that most of us on this board.

We are going to be a run-based offense. Right? I mean you bring in a tight end and a fullback. And then you play tight to the LOS and use play action fakes to create time for the QB in the pass game. You don't need to have backs help on the rush as much in that circumstance. Unless Riley is full of it and plans to abandon the run and pass it all the time.

That's what we are all fearing. Let's face facts.

It could very well be that Newby ahead of Devine is a tip of the hat toward the pass over the run.

And the first "Riley is secretly plotting for Nebraska to fail" post. brilliantly pathetic!

  5. Harbaugh was the returning Prodigal Son of Michigan football. He's a Michigan Man. There was a strong feeling in the locker room that Hoke was not the right man for the job. They were ready for a change.

Mike Riley was complete unknown to our locker room and an outsider to the Nebraska Football family. A lot of our guys liked Bo and disagreed strongly with his firing. At least one of the former coaches was communicating with the players after he was fired. Not surprisingly, there's been a mass exodus from that position group one year after the coaching change.

So maybe let's not compare the situations with Harbaugh and Riley. They couldn't have been more different.

    True Story!

It was a typical hit job that he waited until game week to put out to cause some controversy. I'm still not sure why he also took a shot at the AD. It was just announced that NU has the highest GPA ever and he is giving all the coaches every tool needed to succeed. He is full of crap on his toughness issue. He sites verbal acknowledgement from players of Michigan and Ohio St. I don't think he asked any Nebraska players what they thought. (side note, Michigan has not won sh#t yet with Harbaugh at the helm either)

Harbaugh inherited a 5-7 team and went 10-3 losing less games than Nebraska in any year since Solich was fired. MR took a 9-4 team ad went 6-7. I don't know if toughness had anything to do with it, but if had my choice I prefer Harbaugh.

Harbaugh did not follow BO and last season is not the measuring stick Barfy is using. Harbaugh did not win a championship except for running his mouth. Has never even played for one.

The AD deserves a shot for not demanding greatness. Osborne deserves some criticism for his time as AD, as well.

Also, if you ask Nebraska fans, what season would they have rather have last year, I think most would say they would have rather had Michigan's.

When has Eichorst or anyone else with any knowledge, say that he does not demand greatness. (example- he did not extend Miles contract. Its deliver or else) and last years season is not the measuring stick that Barfy is using. Your logic is flawed more than you know.

Langsdorf back up in the box will really help playcalling IMO. It may also help clock management which was an issue at times last fall.

Im sure it's not that simple. Different doesn't mean it's gonna get better.

In this case, I think it well be. But then it will show us all in 5 days when it is all for real

  10.

Why can't we respect who the players selected. They are the ones at summer workouts and practice, they know who is a leader and who may be just a cut below the level of those selected. Riley will pick one extra captain each week, likely the first one will be Armstrong.

Because one of them is a bike thief?

Wow! a lot of faux righteous people seem to post here
