  1. I am curious if there is any indication how recruits in general feel about Frost.  Could he be a name to bring some we have lost back?  Maybe some new with his schemes? Also i have watched and seen some really good freshman at UCF, think any would consider a transfer even if they sit out a year?

Nope, if he's forced to retire the admins will come up with a package that will pay him some of his contract money.  If he retires on his own, then he waives the right to that contract money, but only if he does it on his own and no sane person would do such a thing with such a golden retirement package.

So he is fired but nicely...

Given what Riley and Co have done to this program in their short 3 years, they don't deserve to "retire gracefully". You go to work at a company for 25 years and do an OK job for your 25 years at the company, then decide to leave and go work at a new company for 3 years where you don't show up to work on time, you don't get your reports in on time, and do a bad job overall, that company you've been at for 3 years isn't going to let you finish out the calendar year to let you retire on your own time.

Again i ask...if he retires does he give up money?

  4. I was watching the UCF game today.  I will admit i have not been on the frost wagon BUT i am not interested in an outsider like kelly, a crazy guy like leech.  I am on the bandwagon to bringing a coach like frost that is younger and has the experience with great programs and coaches.  He can recruit from anywhere due to his ties.  Hell his backup qb is from wahoo. His team struggled defensively and he was pissed and they still won huge.  I want a coach that has high expectations.

Totally.  Chip Kelly strikes me as a fly by night coach.  Someone who would be here for a few years and wouldn't care in the least if and when he left.  I read an article on Bob Stoops and how he was living his life after retirement.  Sounded like he was simply tired of being a division 1 football coach and was thoroughly enjoying his life out of the spotlight.

None of these coaches that people are mentioning besides Frost make a lot of sense or garner any excitement from me.  If it's not Frost which I am still not sure if it will ever be then my fear is that Nebraska is simply headed back down the same road we've been down as far as the last several coaches.

I'm trying to remain positive.  If anything as someone else mentioned before I'll sure as heck keep on following Frost down at UCF regardless.  He's definitely the type of guy I would want leading my favorite program that's for sure.

I think bob stoops would be a good AD that could help mentor a younger coach.

Before we all get "back to the future' , we have got to live through the present.  Not going to be easy watching the team fail every Saturday.  We will not be rebuilding any more.  It will resurrection time now.   There are far too many 'happy' posters on this board right now.  Firing the AD and many hoping the HC too is NOT good news no matter how you think about.  We really needed this Riley experiment to work.   As I have pointed out in another discussion recently, it will take a good decade to get us back where we want to be with a long, sustained and relentless effort by lots of people.

The Riley has not worked for whatever reasons on the field, although just 3 weeks ago today, there was a real sense of optimism that we might (just might) be on the right track, FINALLY, after all these years.   But like Robinson Crusoe found, as he traversed the island in search of civilization and a future, the realization that we are in this alone is a very sobering and challenging one.

Was this Riley era our last chance at redemption and resurrection?    I'd like to not think so but, there is one thing for sure, the next head coach has got to absolutely be THE RIGHT STUFF.  There are no sixth chances in life, except cats who get 9.   The way things are going, we won't get another 20 years before football is banned altogether.

Unless u get the right coach.  Seems to be working for penn st. Didnt seem to take long to get back to the top.

I wouldn't be against Dan Mullen as well.  Probably Frost, Miles, Mullen and then possibly Bielema.  Need to keep watching  more of Durkin at Maryland to provide much of a opinion.

Yes Bielema would be a tough pill to swallow as your head coach.  God Wisconsin fans would be unbearable if he were here.

Does mullen help bring in recruits from the south east??? We need that speed on def.  Also being a sec coach does he help keep some of the recruits we may be getting in the next few years?

  8. I am just wondering if the Huskers have any speed on the team.  As i watched other games and seen highlights, teams like memphis had speed everywhere. Is it the routes the coaches on offense have the players running that dont allow their speed to show or do we just not have it?  On def.  I just dont know if we have any.  Doesnt seem like we have for a long time.  And the way thise kids from schools like clemson or even kstate play....they look like sharks in a feeding frenzy. We dont seem to have kids hungary like that. So is is the coaching of the talent ot the lack of recruiting the talent?

Troy Calhoun just took Michigan into the 4th quarter with a one-score game running the Option with Air Force.

Air Force only pays him about what our Defensive Coordinator makes.

I would love a coach like that IF he could recruite a true dual option qb.  A guy that can actually throw well and run

He was run out in 2002 from NU.....  Not  great DC, but, IMHO, has done a great job at NDSU and not bad at Wyoming. He is more of a big picture guy than a DC.

Myseld and others had mentioned his name after Bo was fired.

I feel the same way about his DC vs HC coaching from the evidence.  Would like to see how this year at wyoming goes for him
