Listened to playbook driving home today. They interviewed Jimbo and afterward discussed FSU. Kanell made a joke about FSU admin having their “ducks in a row” on   Jimbos replacement regarding Taggart. Frost wasn’t mentioned

Thanks. I couldn’t remember if it was him or not. It was one of the clowns on 84

  2. As much as I know everyone has the feels for Herbstreit, did anyone hear (and I’m not  100% sure on the show or person) but I’m pretty sure it was Danny Kanell on Playbook yesterday. He gave absolutely no credit to Nebraska. I understand we’ve been down lately but come on.

Pretty much the jist of his comments where: there is no reason or way SF would take the NU job. We should go after Brett Bielema or Ken Nuimatalolo because that’s what we “Deserve”and that’s what kinda of job NU is. There was some other bashing stuff too. He was also insistent that Scott’s going to take the FSU job. I know he’s from there but there has been no reports to back that.

I'm just saying ESPN isn't going to do a documentary on anyone or anyplace that doesn't create some drama or tension.  They are going to find a good and bad side to every story.  At this rate, ESPN won't even be around in 10-15 years.

This is one of the most underrated, true statements on this board. The only thing is they are owned by Disney and they got the moneys to make espn into whatever the hell they damn well please

I think it's in our best interest, as Nebraska fans, that this got cancelled.  They would have questioned TO's morals and shed some negative light on the program.  Just go back and watch some of those highlight cassettes from the 90s instead.

IF we can get this program turned around, 10-15 years from now it’ll be a great story. For the first time in forever I feel like we have the administration to do it too.

It's kind of strange to think back 20 years ago when Frost was making the case for us being NC to where we are today. Who would have thought after 3 NCs how mismanagement could bring this program down to this level and Frost would be the one to provide hope to ressurect it? It seems like something out of Hollywood.

Maybe someday, we will finally got that 30 for 30.

    thanks espn

PLEASE NO!!!  I understand Riley is a nice guy, but he doesn't deserve any spot within the NU athletic department.  Have people just forgotten how much of a failure his tenure at NU was?  If Riley is kept around in any capacity, it opens up the door for his former players to be loyal to him, rather than the new coach.  I appreciate Riley and his assistants being gracious in this transition period, but the new coach would be saying "Why is Riley still here? Wasn't he fired?".  Let him go back to Corvallis to help out the new Oregon State coach.

Come on man! He would make a perfect  Memorial Stadium greeter. Maybe raid Walmart and have him give out smiley stickers to the kiddos.  His current salary says he might even be qualified for it

What do you think about these five defensive coordinators?

    Brent Venables, Clemson Tigers
    Don Brown, Michigan Wolverines
    Dave Aranda, LSU Tigers
    Bud Foster, Virginia Tech Hokies
    Pete Kwiatkowski, Washington Huskies

are you just asking what I’m thinking or if we should hire them?

  8. I totally agree Nebraska is destination job, the only things missing are some level of satisfactory success, and a truckload of $$$. The doors to the truck just opened with the hiring of diaco as long as that hire turns out. I think if Nebraska has a breakout season like penn state had this year, you open the door to a lot of guys that wouldn't get near Nebraska. Because at that point you inherit a much, much, much happier fan base who aren't wanting your head at every moment of everyday.

  9. First post and fairly new reader but life long husker fan (like everyone here), but I have a theory on this on, right, wrong or indifferent, these are my thoughts on who is calling the shots:

I think when SE fired bo, he didn't have the reins or the trust to open up the pocketbook to start pumping money at this program, which in my opinion is needed to help make us relevant again. So he went and got MR because was a good buy for the money, and he had 10 years or so left in his career. Shawn's a smart guy and knows you don't hire an older coach without thinking about his replacement. With Riley coming in with a bunch of old buddies, it's easy to start replacing them with new and high $ guys until the last piece of the pussle will be rileys replacement when he retires. Which will be after 5-6+ years and a really good season (12-2 or somewhere along those lines). Then SE will promote someone from the staff and have a new, fresh, high quality, high dollar coaching staff to bring us up to par without the sticker shock of doing it all at once. I think MR knew this was the plan when he got hired on so this is all just a part of the plan.
