You already proved you're not a fan of Riley, loud and clear man.  He probably doesn't coach again after this season.  Not sure why you're obsessing.

Well I am done... I just was watching quality football today and it upset me that we cannot play that way.

I'm not a Riley fan and have felt embarrassed this year as well by our fundamentals and lack of coaching and a game plan etc. But this crap is so dumb. I mean really, we have a toxic culture? I could come up with so many worse things to happen to a program and you say we have currently have a toxic culture? That whole post was way over dramatic. "My beloved huskers", "toxic culture", "hanging on by the skin of its teeth",  You say Riley starts players without putting in any work, but yet if he were to have a stud five star recruit who he didn't play you would be complaining he isn't playing them. I think the coaches see the effort in practice on the daily, more so than you. "EVERY time this team fails, Mike lets it be known it is the players fault and lack of talent." Really, go listen to some press conferences and tell me he hasn't taken ownership for some things. This thread is stupid and you sound like a lying whining baby who is over dramatic. Worry more about the legacy and culture of our fan base.

wow, the personal attack was unnecessary. I am sorry you disagree, but the attack was not necessary.

You really think Jordan Stevenson deserved to start? you really think that is a good culture when you allow a true fresh to start when he shows up out of shape?

but they were ecstatic last year.  Like 9 million a year ecstatic

Bro, Michigan is not going to get blown out, they don't have MR on their sideline.

I don't agree or understand many of your posts but I agree and understand this one.

I mean, I guess this deserved a new thread. It's a cool story.

slow Saturday, I thought hey, why not

Um, who would be our third best HC if not Frank?  Numbers would support him being exactly that.  Pelini?  He will never rate, he never was committed to Husker nation.

I thought Frank was alright... Would take him back too.

More campaigning that we need to get rid of Riley even though it's already a foregone conclusion.  More "I told you so from day one" patting self on back blathering.

I seriously can't wait for this season to be over sonthe experts can discuss something else.

Expert hahahah good one man! you are hilarious.

I guess Michigan is going to fire Harbaugh now too.  The fact that a college team gets blown out happens . The Wisconsin game was close going into 4th quarter then we fell apart. But the sad part is this effect your life so much is a joke root for your team and support them win or lose.

By the way Harbaugh is a real coach, don't expect this Penn State game to be a blow out after the clock hits zero.

it  is not just the blowouts, it is NIU, it is paying his special teams coach half a million dollars, it is everything, this dude MR is not good.

I barely understand what your response is trying to say.

It's not faith so much in Riley.  It's knowing we aren't as s#!tty as our record indicates.  Hopefully with the bye we play like a motivated team and get a decent win.

I barely understand your reasoning. Yea our team is not as bad as our record, we certainly have more talent than Purdue, but we also had more talent than NIU, Purdue in 14. when it come to MR, if there is a will there is a way. This dude will figure out a way to lose to Purdue by 21.

I don't think it would bring them onto the Riley Ship...I think it is the "I don't want to be wrong ship"

The thing is...none of the Husker fans need to worry about it because when Riley was first hired there was not one Husker fan that was like "Sweet!  WE GOT OUR COACH"

Ya I was more like "eeeek, Shawn Eichorst what the frick did you do?"

  11. 1 minute ago, Redux said:

Obviously we aren't a great team, maybe not even a good team.  But despite our coaching woes I think there is enough urgency among them and the players to not lose by two scores to Purdue.  Of Purdue beats us by 14 points I won't post again for the rest of the year.

I don;t understand how you give Mike Riley so much deference to  think he couldn't lose to Purdue by 21. Mike is garb

I still don't understand if we go 4-1 how people would be back on the Riley ship.  Anyone that took the time today to watch Purdue, northwestern, Iowa, or Minnesota should know by now that these teams are absolute garbage.  We will be in dog fights with each of them too, but it shouldn't change a thing.  A lone second place finish in the west and a bowl game?  Cool story.  The B1G west could easily be the worst power 5 division in college football.  It sure as hell is when taking wisconsin out of the picture.  The thought of Riley bringing Nebraska back to prominence is laughable.  The hire was for the image, not what was best for Husker football.  This experiment was a joke to begin with.  Because a .500 coach with a 30 year sample size was all of sudden going to be a championship contender?  HA!  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

AMEN BRUH, this magic Mike dude needs to bounce.

  13. A strange feeling has come over me. It is a bye week and I could care less that Nebraska doesn't play a game today. Usually during Husker fall Saturdays I dread the bye week. But now, I can sit in peace knowing that this coaching staff won't be embarrassing my beloved Huskers on TV.

The Ineptitude, the incompetence, the hype, the talk, the losing, the blame... I cannot deal with it any more. Folks, we lost to NIU, and got destroyed on home turf twice in a row. Some say it is the players who play, well you are correct, but it is the coaches who build a culture. Culture can do so much for a team. Mike Riley has built a culture that is toxic and it was being laid from year one.

Remember Jordan Stevenson? the "touted" 4 star RB who didn't qualify for Wisconsin. Well the kid shows up to fall camp extremely out of shape and overweight. But behold, game one I am watching a true freshmen Stevenson thirty pounds overweight starting at kick return. A month later, Stevenson transfers. Now we have Lamar Jackson, a kid who should have redshirted starts at corner and is exposed week in and week out. What kind of culture is that? It is obvious that when Mike recruits a highly rated recruit he allows them to start from day one, all without putting in any work.

This crap is winding down now, hanging on by the skin of its teeth. We all should have known from day one. Folks this thing is not getting better and won't until Mike is gone. Please understand NEBRASKA football as a legacy deserves better. Nebraska was built on hard work.  There are no bright spots over the last three years.

every time this team fails, Mike lets it be known it is the players fault and lack of talent. It was Tommy in year one making bad decisions, it is our lack of talent this year... I am grateful that I am witnessing the end of the darkest era in Husker football I have ever seen in my life.

Believe me when I say: I really hope you are right! Nothing will make me happier than my Huskers winning a game. This is how low the standards have been set by the current coaching staff. We are hoping to win a game against Purdue....not Ohio State, not Wisconsin, not Michigan, but Purdue...I really hope you are right but Mike Riley seems more lost than ever...he simply lost the respect of his players because he can’t guide them to a win.

Mike's staff and him should just keep driving on I 80 on their way back from Purdue, all the way to Corvalis, Oregon. LOL I am done with this loser all hype, all talk coaching staff,

I am also tired of this.  Some of the things being said about the man are appalling.  I can't understand how you could think he is anything other than a respectful, honest, bona fide good person who just happens to have not been the best choice to be the head football coach at the University of Nebraska.

I don't think Mike acted in good faith on behalf of Nebraska when he paid Bruce Read $450,000

It can still be football without people acting like jackasses. And to your point, who cares? Why do people need to go out of their way to go rain on UCF’s parade. It’s childish. People are pathetic, bro.

Yea bro, but the world is the world and d Bags will always exist. Just ignore them.

  17. Here is the problem with Mike Riley,

He did not do his due diligence when hiring his staff. Did mike know Diaco runs a bend don't break defense? If so, did Mike think it would be a good idea to have his players adjusting to a new system while allowing opposing QBs a plethora of time in the pocket?

Bruce Read made half a million dollars to do almost nothing, reports show that Read did would not even stay the entire practice.

Out of every OC Riley could have hired, Mike hired his friend, The same friend who in the past had play calling duties taken away from him.

Why bring in Mark Banker just to fire him in year three? Did Mike think that Husker fans were so patient that we would allow a rebuild in year three? Year 1 &2 would have been ok, but year 3 is unacceptable.

Why run a spread offense in years 1 & 2 and then switch in year 3? again why would fans be patient in year 3?

Why move Kalu to safety when we had 3 perfectly good options, and then start a true freshmen who played QB in high school now adjusting to and playing CB in Lamar jackson?

I am done with Mike, I really did give him a chance, and I advocated pretty hard on his behalf. All he has done is talk a big game with no results. Calibraska.... yada yada yada, I am just over it. I am ready for a staff who makes players earn spots, who has expectations of winning, who emphasizes execution.
