So I love how this staff has already come out of the gates firing in recruiting. I love how with a simple announcement of Frost being named Nebraska head coach Nebraska seems "cool" again and feels like it has an identity. I loved seeing Frost's emotions after that UCF win. I love how this whole thing came together and major props to Moos. I love that Frost is our head coach and it is still hard to believe we actually got him and we are at this point. The excitement and hope for the future of Nebraska football hasn't been this high in 20+ years. The moment Frost was announced as coach today and things started falling into place so rapidly, it just felt like a perfect fit.

However, I am still uneasy. Why? Shortly after all the sources started pouring out that Frost was Nebraska's next head coach there was this one little article that floated out there saying Frost was getting cold feet and had a tough decision to make after the conference title game. Then Frost is announced as head coach at Nebraska, but and please help me here if I am wrong, I have not seen anything that says he's signed anything yet, and I haven't even seen a statement from Frost regarding accepting the job. I've heard from media and other people reporting he is the coach, but nothing from Frost. The only thing I've heard from him is saying things like he wants to retire in Orlando when he is done with coaching and that, to the Orlando media, you will see me a lot around here this winter.

I was all for him coaching the bowl game for UCF, thought as long as he had signed and we had him and he was 100% N, him coaching in a NY6 bowl would be free publicity for Nebraska and help with recruiting as all the announcers would be talking about is Frost to Nebraska. But, given I have yet to read anything from Frost saying he's taken the job, or really seems excited for the job and more so hearing more from him that he loves UCF and its tough to leave, etc. it makes me a little worried. Is Frost coming to Nebraska because he WANTS to come to Nebraska? Or is he coming to Nebraska because he feels he has to?

Now I completely understand his emotions and attachment to UCF and his players, coaches and fans. Absolutely understand that, but I don't know if his silence on the Nebraska job and explaining how difficult it is to leave Orlando and UCF is out of respect for UCF and his players and letting this day be about them and their title, or if again, Frost feels like he has to come to Nebraska to save what is a dying program, instead of wanting to come here.

Sorry to sound like a downer on a great day for Nebraska football, but I just hope Frost wants to be at Nebraska.

You already got a reply noting the official press release, but I wanted to add that the fact that they're hitting recruits literally tonight tells me there's a fire in Scott and his staff that will take this state by storm.  From what we've seen so far since the game today, it sure doesn't feel like the outcome of a guy with cold feet or remorse.  HCSF and the staff that he's bringing with him have been doing planning well before this day on levers they needed to pull instantly.

I'm wondering if these inside source leaks about cold feet and remorse are some sort of planned lip service from SF to sort of soften the blow to UCF so they wouldn't be as offended with the almost instant gear shifting he's doing.  I mean c'mon...he wore a red/white shirt on the way to the game :ahhhhhhhh

The strongly considered it part is crap if you ask me.  He made his decision and he will keep his word.  Seems like the kind of person where his word matters.

I agree with you regarding Frost's actual answer.  That guy's "source" is close to Athletic Department (so who knows if it's even true).  But I wouldn't be surprised if FSU's Athletic Department is feeding that line to key people with a little spin----as in it's a "let them down easy" no.  Heck that could've legitimitaly been how Frost's agents responded even though Scott say no way Jose.

  3. Interesting post on Reddit about FSU:

From a good source - The administration knew this was going to be his decision going back a week. They have been feeling out coaches and watching things unfold around the county.

Frost’s reps were the first call earlier this week. Apparently he strongly considered it but declined. Apparently going to take the Nebraska job the day after UCF’s bowl game.

Next was Taggart. Apparently this is the 3rd or 4th job he’s been offered. He isn’t interested in leaving Oregon and is expecting a huge extension this off season.

Then came Bob Stoops. My source said he didn’t even return phone calls. (Maybe he will now that the job is open? Never talk about another man’s job)

Feelers were sent to Fuente and his contract apparently all but eliminates him as a candidate.

Apparently the administration isn’t vihemently against Sumlin. They don’t want it to appear they are taking A&M’s trash.

From what my source has gathered, the search has come down to Charlie Strong and Mark Stoops. They’ve been in contact with Reps of both coaches and both coaches have expressed interest.

My source has been right throughout the years with football/basketball hirings and various scandals. But now he is certain it’ll be Mark Stoops or Strong if Bob doesn’t return phone calls.

Edit: I just called back to ask about Kiffin. Big time boosters have apparently eliminated him from consideration. Threatening to pull massive amounts of future donations.

Family first of course, but with the salaries these coaches pull I can't imagine things like this are major influential factors.

BTW, I found the forum where you got this rumor from, and there is some comedy gold in that thread as they play out the statements between SF and his wife.

I listen to Sharp and Benning and like to listen to Husker Doc Talk.  That is all I really listen to regularly.  I will sometimes listen to Bahe.  Not a huge fan though.  I just don't like his perspective on Nebraska football.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct was absolutely great when Severe and Kuglar were doing the show.   The Hour of Hate on Thursday or Friday afternoon was great.  Bishop and the other Moran they have on there now are just not very good.

Hahahah...you made it to Unsportsmanlike Conduct's message post of the day with this.  I can post a link if you want to listen to it.

Is jessica0 a real live woman? Because I am finding myself only interested in what she has to say...does a woman care this much about Husker football? I might be falling in love. (Short time listener...first time caller)

There was a joke many pages ago that jessica0 is actually SF himself. :thumbs

Remember I kept saying the first thing to look for, for getting Scott Frost to Nebraska was paying attention for new names to come up with the UF coaching job. That has happened. The next thing is to look for is Scott Frost and jobs that will eventually open. If we hear nothing about Frost and other jobs and we hear credible leaks (as credible as they can be like the ESPN guy), and there is no chatter about Forst returning to UCF as for certain, then we know there is a good chance he is going back home when "momma" officially calls.

My gut feeling is that things for the push to get Scott Frost to Nebraska didn't happen until after the MN game. Just my gut feeling on that. Priore to that I think it was just more of feelers that went out to various coaches. I think they know what they will be doing on officially and are now moving in that direction.

I just hope that SF has been vetted out as really the best realistic coach we can get at this point in time.  I realize some are starting to say Moos is playing 3dimensional chess and maybe all this SF is a cloudy front as he works for someone better potentially, but I have a hard time believing the UN administration is willing to drop down tremendously huge bucks to steal a big fish household name that will appease the fanbase after experiencing the HCMR chapter we're just about done with.  I can always hope that there really is something magical in store for us even if it's not SF, but my gut tells me it wouldn't be the splash that a lot hope for.  For all we know SF may not have been target #1 at the start and potentially now we're "settling" in with him.

  8. Maybe it's already been discussed (sorry if so), but this snippet from OWH leads me to believe that Frost may not be in the crosshairs.  I realize the bolded sentence isn't a direct quote....but isn't that a little concerning?  Idk, maybe I'm not interpreting it correctly :dunno

“He’s from Nebraska and he’s a favorite son, and I like that,” Moos said. “These fans embrace those who have played the game here and moved on in their careers. Naturally, with the frustrations we’re experiencing now — and then to see what Scott’s doing with a really impressive season at Central Florida — it makes sense that (UCF’s) record was the record here. Now, the competition is a little bit different, but coaching is coaching, and he’s doing a fabulous job.”

But there are more good coaches out there, Moos said, who’d like to coach at Nebraska.
