  1. I love Marvel movies, so I was pretty psyched to see it. IMO, Michael B. Jordan and Danai Gurira stole the show. Of course, I'm a big fan of both of them from previous roles. But there wasn't a bad actor/character in the bunch. The little Sparkles loved it, too, particuarly the 8 year old.

We're two episodes into Anne with an E, on Netflix. It's Anne of Green Gables, which I never read as a kid.

I think this would have a pretty limited interest group, probably not something a majority of people on this board would like. It's cute, but on the fringe of what I'm interested in.

I enjoyed Anne of Green Gables, but it's probably more in my wheelhouse than most here given my gender and that I've previously read the book and seen the mini-series from the 80s several times.

I still prefer adding OU and KU to the West and moving Purdue East.  Makes both dovisions pretty equal competitively and give us a better rival, Wisconsin and Iowa trash can have eachother back.

This is my dream scenario. Get the Oklahoma rivalry back and leave K-State to wither and die in some nothing conference like they deserve.

It grinds my gears. The spring game should be for people who cant normally go to a game because of cost and can pick up a ticket for 10-15 bucks and be able to take their kid to a game at a reasonable cost.

I know organizations like Big Brothers and Big Sisters work hard to get tickets to these events so kids can go to games and make memories.

I'm glad someone here understands. TBH, I expected those on this board to be a bit more rational and decent than what I've seen on other boards.

I really wanted to take my boys to the spring game this year. They're just hitting that age where football is becoming cool to them and I wanted them to actually feel the excitement of being a Husker fan surrounded by the sea of red rather than just watching it on TV while their crazy mother screams at the screen. Since I can't afford to take them to a real game, I thought this would be the next best thing and for $10 (with them being free) plus parking, gas, and snacks, it would be doable. Now, I would never have handled it like that woman on Twitter... ranting like that just isn't my style. But I was genuinely really disappointed and a little sad at the lost opportunity while others who can already go to every single game were able to buy 20 tickets. I get why they got first dibs. But I also really don't like that they had the chance at 20 and I hope that changes next year.

Hard pass.  Thanos looks terrible.  I think Marvel really dropped the ball here.  It's like they asked, "How can we take one of our most iconic villains and make him look stupid?  Well, let's ask DC how they do it."

I love Marvel movies, but it seems the villains are generally pretty forgettable. On the flip side, I can't stand DC superheroes, but the villains seem to be more entertaining at least to me. I've never read a comic book in my life, so does that hold true for the comics, too?

What does "after his kind" mean?

Think of "kind" as meaning "species."

    Quote

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

It's really a direct refutation of evolution. For example, He created whales (some versions of the bible mention whales specifically rather than "great sea creatures") as they are and they gave rise to more of their kind rather than evolving into something new.

Gotcha - at what time do you decide to talk openly?  Is it triggered at a certain age?  After exposure to something (i.e. movie, internet, comment by friend etc)?

Not trying to ask dumb questions, and don't want to come across as nudgey but if we talk about setting up environments for open discussion with kids and teaching them early on I am curious what that is?  Certainly its different for each kid - or is it?

A few years ago a friend of mine was telling me how one of her sons found her vibrator in a bedside drawer (he was probably 9 or 10).  I was horrified and asked how she handled it.  She said something to the effect that "it's mommies and it's something that moms and dads use when they're in the bedroom that makes her feel good.  It's not a toy for you to play with and you should leave it alone."  At the time I wasn't sure what I thought about how she handled it (ok, I was sure, I was still horrified), but as she further explained, she wanted them to understand that it's/sex is nothing to be embarrassed about, that if they had questions that they should feel like they can come to her.  Now I think she likely set the right tone for her boys to be pretty comfortable talking openly not only with her but with their future partners.

Oh gosh, so much just on this page of this thread, to address, but I'll start here. I'm a single mom of 2 young boys and while their dad is around, I have chosen to be the one to take charge in educating my boys about these topics. My oldest in particular is VERY curious and asks questions about all subjects all the time. I'd say sex-related questions started coming from him at 3 years old. He started with just trying to understand anatomical differences. Then he wanted to know how babies are made. He was content with an egg/seed type explanation for a while, but eventually he wanted to know how the seed got inside the mom. As he's gotten older, he's heard things on tv or from friends/cousins that he wants to understand better.  I have instilled it in him that he is allowed to ask me ANYTHING and I will not get mad or lie to him. There have been times when I've had to tell him that I need to think about the best way to answer and I will get back to him when I've thought about it more. He accepts that and I keep my word to address his question after I've formed an appropriate response. I'm not going to lie, this has led to some REALLY uncomfortable/amusing moments. "Mom, your fachina is awake at night because it's from China and they're awake when we sleep" (when he was younger). A grossed out "So, did you and dad have to do it more than once?"  when I explained the more intricate details of how babies are made. And "Do you have to do it in a bedroom?" No idea where that one came from, tbh. Most recently he heard the word masturbation. Not going to lie... that was the most difficult one to explain for some reason. IMO, your friend handled her son's question perfectly. I don't envy her, but I respect her willingness to be honest and age appropriate with her response.

Broadchurch and The Ranch are both back.

I had no idea there was a 3rd season of Broadchurch. I've already finished the newest season of The Ranch. But so excited to get back to Broadchurch once I finish The Five (just watched the first episode).

Has anyone watched Dark yet? I highly recommend it to anyone who is not averse to reading subtitles (don't waste your time on the awful English dubbing). Sort of a Stranger Things meets Broadchurch sort of show, imo.

  9. Once you look at my list, I think you'll see why I'm to the point where I don't know if I can, in good conscience, vote anymore.

    1) Pro-life - This is an absolute requirement. I have never and will never vote for someone who is not pro-life. Yes, I am a woman. And as a woman who has been pregnant twice (and blessedly has 2 beautiful young boys), my feelings on this topic have only gotten stronger as I've gotten older.

    2) Universal health care - Sadly, the candidates who are with me on issue #1 are inexplicably against me here. I am also a strong Christian and I will not look my Lord in the eye one day and tell Him that I was in favor of letting anyone, particularly children, die because they couldn't afford to see a doctor.

    3) Legalize marijuana - I've never touched the stuff and have on interest in ever doing so. But to me, it just seems logical to make it legal and tax it the same way we do tobacco. In addition, I'm tired of people being sent to jail over something that is, as far as I can tell, actually less dangerous than alcohol. Remove the burden from our courts and prisons, stop creating criminals who now have had their lives and families destroyed, and take in more money in taxes... seems win/win/win to me.

    4) Fight for the 2nd Amendment - Strong proponent of the right to protect myself and my family and will not vote for anyone who seeks to take that right from me.

Find me a candidate that is with me on all 4 of these and I could overlook a lot of other issues.

Watching the Florida/Stanford match on ESPN, and the announcers all commented at one point and time about how eerie and quiet it sounded in there after the Nebraska/Penn State match, and that any energy that needed to be generated needed to come from the players.

I can't wait to see/hear how big and bad it's going to be Saturday night against Florida. Can't wait to see comments enjoy the delicious schadenfreude from Florida fans about how unfair it will be that Nebraska has a home-field advantage in a championship game.

BTW, neither Stanford or Florida looked rather impressive. Stanford looked sharper against Texass, to be honest, and Florida played significantly worse defense than either Penn State or Nebraska did. As long as our women keep their "one point at a time", lunch-pail mentality, and the crowd shows up (remember, we play Kansas in Lincoln that night) we should be able to best Florida.

This seems like a good place to mention that I have a very deep, VERY PERSONAL hatred of the University of Florida and that beating them in anything is the highest high while losing this would be the most excruciating loss we could have for me. So if our ladies could go ahead and take care of business, that would be great. Luckily I honestly think we've got this. Their 1 loss came to Kentucky in Gainesville and we handled Kentucky fairly easily. And while I didn't get to watch them last night, I didn't see anything that terrified me in their match against USC.

Each situation is different, but a lot of kids wouldn't turn down a full-ride scholarship for an elite FCS school to spend 80 grand walking on at Nebraska.

I love my Huskers as much as anyone and my boys are starting to follow suit. But I can not imagine, in good conscience, encouraging them to take on near $100k in debt so they can walk on at Nebraska if they're offered a scholarship literally anywhere else. I have no idea how you overcome that.

Couldn't tell it by ESPN. They make me sick!  If you go on their websit the have a big picture of Kentucky as the losers and a little picture of Nebraska winning in 4 sets!

I hope the Huskers win it all!

You aren't kidding. What in the af is the logic behind decisions like that? No wait... ESECPN, I almost forgot for a second. The announcing definitely had me nauseated towards the end. Whatever are they going to do if USC pulls this out and there's no SEC team in the final four at all.

+6.5 at Iowa seems unreasonably high to then compare it to a +1.5 at MSU. Otherwise, most of those seem pretty fair.

Some of the spreads are a bit surprising, but the overall win total seems about right to me, so I won't argue too much. I can honestly say I haven't paid a bit of attention to Colorado since we changed conferences. Anyone more familiar with them that can tell me why we're favored by 6.5?

    Little help please...

Anyone have a link yet for the press conference? I’m sure the local news feeds will carry it but us outof staters need a way.

Anyone heard if it will be carried on BTN?

    Thx!

Looks like one link has already been given, but here's another just in case.

Or should I say get into the Twitter game.  I want to get into twitter for the sole purpose of Husker football.  Who do I all need to follow and what publications should I all follow to get the best source?  I can say that yes this is all because of the excitement of the Scott Frost hire.

I'd say start by adding the local media guys like Sean Callahan, Mike Schaefer, and Sam McKewon and their retweets will lead you to others to follow.

For entertainment purposes, Faux Pelini and RedditCFB are good follows, too.

As far as the zealots who only appear to worship the new savior, they did the same to Pelini for a while.....yeah, Bo Pelini.......a pro linebacker coach.

I know a lot about her? lol Because I read the boards for a while before joining and some of you talk about her more than her own family probably does. Dude, your sexism is showing. Let it go.

People want something to be excited about. They want hope. Most people who play the lottery don't play it because they genuinely believe they're going to win. They play because for a while it allows them to escape reality and DREAM. That's what Frost is right now. I guess I just don't understand the need of some people to rip the dream away. Football is just a game. Its meant to be fun. Its a game I LOVE, but it's a game none-the-less. Let people have their fantasy after a year of misery.

He's just keeping it real. The overzealousness we're seeing now is the same as when Pelini was hired. Anti-social media is what it is. That's why we need good leaders to come out and tell the fans how it's gonna be and not let the mob mentality build up steam. I have every expectation that Frost will get the job done but doubt it will happen overnight. I think some simple fans expect instant gratification that they won't get. As long as the serious football fans see that the things being done make sense, Frost won't have to worry about the mob.

On another subject, I haven't seen most of these people discussing football during the regular season.....do they just jump on to post memes for coach hires?

Another thing...."Are you trolling?"....Are you the third round of JessicaO?

I haven't talked to anyone who thinks we're going to be competing for conference titles over night. That's nothing but a strawman marched out by negative nancies who feel it's somehow their job to tamper the excitement of anyone who feels *too* hopeful.

As for me being Jessica, why are you asking me specifically? Because I have a female name? Because there can't be multiple women who love and genuinely know Husker football? I haven't tried to pretend I have a single iota of insider knowledge and my posts are nothing like Jessica's were. I've actually already explained why I chose to jump on when I did. But my Husker "message board" participation goes way back to AOL in the late 90s if it makes you feel any better.

If he doesn't, he and his family, even his third cousins twice removed, will have to flee the country to Brazil or some place.  That is what's wrong here.  There seems to be this 'second coming' kind of admiration and worship of Scott Frost.  I am just not sure why.   He did good things as a player and he has been successful as an assistant coach for the most part anyway.  As a HC, he has had one great season.  That is hardly the resume' of the next Bear Bryant or Tom Osborne or Meyer or any of a dozen other great coaches.  Nearly all the truly great coaches became great in their 50s and even 60s.  Frost is 42 or so - meaning we have to wait another 10 years for him to get into that great vintage category.   Are all the Frosties really ready to wait patiently and stop complaining about each and every little thing while he becomes great?   I am just wondering as this mob mentality is the worst I've ever seen regarding Husker football.

I am not so sure that Husker Nation is as 'united' on this Frost Warning as some would suggest.   I know a few folks who personally know the Frost family (Scott and parents in particular) and they are fairly unanimous in their dislike and lack of respect.   I don't want to throw water on your bonfire but I think everybody needs to slow down on the Kool Aid party - its been so long and many are so thirsty its understandable but still.   Take a deep breath and get real people.

Are you trolling? I don't know this board quite well enough yet, so I have to believe you're trolling. I seriously could not disagree with this entire post more. First off, as far as I'm concerned, Frost has had 2 great seasons as a head coach. Improving a team from 0-12 to 6-7 IS great. And that's 2 more great seasons as a head coach than Osborne had before he became NU's head coach. The implication that there's some magical age a coach has to be to be to belong here is laughable. Top 10 coaches Lincoln Riley (34), Kirby Smart (41), James Franklin (45), Clay Helton (45) and Dabo Swinney (48) all say, "Hey." No, they're not Tom Osborne level yet, but neither was Tom Osborne when he started. Every single person I've talked to realizes that Frost has a tough road ahead of him and the almost unanimous opinion is that he needs a solid 5 years before expectations even begin to ramp up. Basically everyone just wants improvement. As for people who don't like him or his family, that's the most petty, ignorant thing I've ever heard. I could not care less if the coach at NU is someone I'd like to sit down and have a drink with. I think Saban comes across as a world class d-bag while I would pay good money to spend an afternoon listening to Mike Leach just ramble on. Guess who I'd rather have as my coach.
