  1. If an hour goes by where Mangieri doesn't get off a few snaps within the next week and a half, I'd run that kid until he puked his guts out. Then he'd snap the ball again.

He's a walk-on, isn't he? Sure, he's a critical part of the team, but we can't be as hard on him as we can a scholly player.

Why not? He's on the team playing in the game isn't he?

Yeah, not sure we should be differentiating between a walk on and a scholly player when things go wrong. He's on the field, he needs to do his job. That said, tough conditions tonight for a freshman in a tough role. He will get better.

  2. Thanks! It is nice to see that you are being classy. The others on tigerboard are calling Suh a dirty player.....

It was a very fun game to watch and good luck to you the rest of the season.

Don't know how they could call Suh that. The two personal fouls he had were pretty questionable. He is a madman and unstoppable, that's for sure.

  3. I thought they had a light practice on Monday. But I was also hoping to see some more talk of this from BC.

No practices on Monday during the season.

Which needs to change this week. They needed to practice yesterday! Not unusual for poor performing teams. Not to mention running on game film day.

Isn't it required to have a day off during the week for college teams?

  4. In his column today Shatel took a hit at May, kinda out of right field:

"But on a deep blue late summer's day--the kind Mark May had in mind when he invented college football--this was like a lightning bolt, a revelation if you will"

That's funny. I find Shatels columns to be fairly entertaining at the least, even if I don't agree with everything he says.

  5. Bowman, Jones, and Murillo were all hyped coming out of JC. I'd love to see Murillo step in and make an immediate impact, but I'm expecting him to look more like Bowman and Jones did, at least through the first half of the season. Blue seems to be getting some nice words from coach E though, so he may in fact be able to make a solid contribution this year.

  6. What hype about Potter? Most things I read in the past were not favorable about him.

He came is a "highly touted" recruit, whatever that means. I know it does mean one thing though, will never live up to it. You can't, I am pretty sure it's impossible.

You could see greatness from Wistrom when he was a freshman. Turner had that greatness, but is playing at about 40 pounds heavier than Grant did his Soph. year. Suh should be a beast, Potter hasn't lived up to the hype, and Ty is solid but not spectacular.

I don't see the nastiness and the all-out effort out of this group that the great line of 95 had.

I am pretty sure the article isn't comparing the lines. It is comparing the limelight both were in at the time.

Nevertheless, I have my doubts about Potter, but really he was stuck behind Carriker. The hardly took any plays off. Suh is an outstanding player. I am excited to see more of him this fall.

Ty is solid, could be great but really he hasn't played enough to say is or is not great.

I hate to throw these kids under the bus before they really have a chance to be "the guys".

Exactly. There's really nothing that can be said until the season starts and we actually see where they're at. I'm optimistic and am not going to throw them under the bus, but we'll see once the season starts.

  7. Let's hope that he finds his way to class, or he will not play next year anyway....... There was and IS a reason he was at a JUCO..... academics doesn't appear to be his strong point or point of interest.... He may be gone, but due to academic casualty !!!!

C'mon MO, get with it !!!!!!

Ridiculous...is there any evidence to back up what you're saying?

Well, in his defense there are only a few reasons why someone would attend a junior college out of high school.

Just because he went to JUCO doesn't mean he hasn't gotten his grades in order by now. I just think it is ridiculous that someone can call out a player like this for something none of us probably know anything about. Show me some facts and I'll shutup.

Have any of our JUCOs dropped due to academics after their first year at NU?
