  1. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but this post should clarify who I am supporting in 2020.

Tulsi Gabbard is what you would call a "DINO", or a Democrat In Name Only. That used to mean a centrist who did not support progressive values. But now that has morphed to mean a progressive who does not support centrist neoliberal values.

" n the latest Morning Consult poll (released September 4), Tulsi is at 4% — tied for sixth, total — in a survey of the early states (Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada). To put this in perspective, she is tied with Pete Buttigieg and leading Cory Booker, Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Yang, Amy Klobuchar, and Julián Castro — all people in the next debate."

I could be way off base here but I fear/wonder if the owner wants to profit from the board, not just have it pay for itself.

David is a businessman, his career is operating Husker message boards. It is not just a hobby for him.

I wish that I could enjoy my career as much, but I'm sure that running these boards has many unpleasant challenges.

  3. Note: I hope the regular denizens of the Politics and Religion board do not mind me posting here.

HuskerBoard rules had been no posting here until you reach 250 posts, which I am far short of.

But thanks to David Max's new software upgrade, that limitation did not get included.

Hopefully I will be slightly less annoying than the plethora of advertisements that are sure to follow.

He said these are hot-button divisive topics and he wanted to cite the bible and tell us what the bible says about these things and use that information to guide us to make our own decision on what we think and use the Church as a place to gather information.   In the public we hear the two parties bicker back and forth, giving us a lot of information and misinformation, his job as a pastor, is to give us the Church's viewpoint and help guide us to our answer.

When looking for a moral stance on issues, I try to find canonical wisdom from Jesus, and not the OT.

On homosexuality and the treatment of immigrants, I read Matthew 22:36-40.

I think they've been clear about deadlines though, so any poll that is in by the deadline counts.

I know this may not be his year, but man do I love this man and what he stands for.

(and let's be honest, this will get Donnie's tighty whity's in a wad today).

The donor list has been made very clear, as had the requirement for reaching 2% in four approved polls.

The DNC's failure has been to not be open about how the polling is done, who was targeted, and when it was done.

They are believed to favor polls that target long time Democrat (establishment) voters with land lines (older people), and did not approve many (if any) soon after the second debate. They are after a certain result, they want centrists like Biden and Harris to lead, and exclude less establishment voices.

Regarding Mayor Pete, he is far too beholden to corporate money for me to consider him at all.

Good question -  most social issues have a political solution( govt solution) and a non-political solution.  As private citizens and as private organizations we can do what we can to work on the issue. Sometimes govt intervention is needed - ok most times govt has to be involved - that is where the debate comes in on what is the best solution. I think we demonize 'the other side' too much when talking about solutions (regardless of who the other side is). Most people want to solve the problem they just have different ways of getting there.  Most times the best solution is a mix from both sides but if we are constantly yelling over each other and making every social issue a 'red meat' political issue, it doesn't get solved - which often fits in wt the plan of the partisan leaders of these parties.  Having divisive social issues is how parties get power and stay in power.  We, as private citizens and organizations, should refuse to be pawns in that kind of power trap.  Thus, I'm not beholding to the GOP just because I'm pro-life.

Hot button social issues like abortion, immigration and guns keep the bases of both parties at each others throats. making compromise impossible.

    In my opinion..

The act of abortion is a moral issue.

Keeping it legal or making it illegal is the political issue

    That summarizes the situation well.
Some people see peace, healthcare and the environment as moral issues too.
Should a tax exempt religious organization be allowed to politically organize from the pulpit?

Unfortunately we've been trending this way for years.  An early season W over a top tier opponent doesn't mean anything in November (unless you go undefeated at which point it didn't matter anyway).  The pollsters have very short memories.

And welcome here on your arrival from HuskerMax, I enjoyed reading your posts when I also posted there.

I would like to see Nebraska play one top 25 team OoC each season, but that is the old time fan speaking who remembers that being in the top ten every week was a near given. We're not quite ready for prime time (top 25), still problems on the OL, LB and with team depth.
