I really don't understand this whole hurricane thing. How narcissistic does a person have to be to just say they made a mistake in adding a state in a speech regarding the path of a hurricane as opposed to doubling down? It's probably the least dumb thing he's done as president and could have blown over in minutes instead of becoming viral.

Based on my reading of the Constitution, I would say that both are wrong.
You would be correct. Yet they are both happening.

Should a tax exempt religious organization be allowed to politically organize from the pulpit?
I guess they should be allowed to if for profit businesses can cite religious freedom when they deny service to people

So this should just define him for life? Toss him in and label him a sex offender with the other perverts?
I think whether it defines him for life will be up to him. Not me. If he makes better choices in life and takes advantage of the opportunity he has to better himself, it's likely no one thinks much about this in 15 years or whatever, assuming he's not actually convicted. But for now, he has to wear it.
With regards to the other part, I can't say I'm in line with the CA law. I would hate to see that happen to him.

What's absurd is that we here in the United States have a legal system that does the job of judging someone in a much more thorough and evidental manner than a message board poster, and yet the message board poster feels (by their absurd comments) that their opinion supersedes that of a judge presiding over this case.
No one is saying what he Washington did was right. But thankfully the law, unlike yourself, isn't as black and white, and it will give Washington a chance to represent his side--something you fail to account for time and again in your critiques.
And no, the law isn't the sole arbiter--we have judges that don't account for judicial precedent and updated societal norms, and society has to hold those rulings and judges in check whenever possible. But it does a lot more good than harm considering how easily you're willing to eschew one of the founding tenants of this (or any other civilized) country.

Mods--a suggestion. Perhaps this topic would be better suited in the Politics tab.
It's where we're headed with it, whether we like it or not.
I'm only talking about what he did. The undisputed act of him sending her the video with the intent to get back at her. I don't need a judges ruling on child porn, revenge porn or anything else to tell me that what he did was morally bad. Bad for a teenager, adult, anyone.
Does that make sense? He made a crappy life choice and harmed another person with that choice. The legal side is a whole other discussion.

Hey, dumb things kids do when they are 18 and a football player matter and need to be talked into the ground!
This is a Maurice Washington thread. No need to talk about Cam Jurgens and his terrible snapping in here too.

Thankfully, the law isn't nearly as black and white in its thinking. It's why there are such things as trials, juries, and testimony. Hell, the law suggests that your bolded statement (my emphasis) is absurd. Otherwise, why would you have varying degrees/classes of felonies and misdemeanors. Or the distinction between felonies and misdemeanors in of itself?
There's more than this case than what has been discussed and made public--otherwise, why is there an ongoing dialog between the judge, defense, and prosecution? If it were as simple and black and white as you suggest, it would have been resolved some time ago.
And frankly, until Washington goes to trial and is found guilty, he's innocent--another fundamental tenant of our legal system. Let the kid play until his trial and outcome.
So you base your personal opinion of how you feel about what someone did solely based on what the law decides? talk about absurd.
Whatever the legal end result is of this issue doesn't erase what he did to the girl. That is the awful part. If he's found not guilty of child porn distribution based on technicalities or a plea or whatever doesn't take away the fact he sent that girl the video with intent to harm her. That act does not go away.

Boy, if only Mo had the common sense to send it back to her when he was 17 and 364 days old.
Common sense is definitely something he lacks

Question, are the guys in the video athletes? Is the guy recording it an athlete?
Are they currently playing?
They served their consequence when they were still minors.

No one is saying he did nothing wrong. We're going from false dichotomies to strawmen.
Wrong leans more towards a legal term. I used bad, awful, bad character. You can't seem to do that. You wrote it off as him just being a teenager.

I've been a Catholic for quite a while now. I've attended many masses in many churches. I have witnessed 1 priest give a homily in which he tried to direct people how to vote. He went on and on about abortion and gay marriage. He's now in prison for child molestation.

It's not a false dichotomy. Either you think what he did was bad or you don't. There is nothing else there. The manner, degree, and timing of any consequences or not is a totally separate argument.

I've been pretty clear on what I believe about this case, and at no time have I said any such thing, or intimated it.
Your need to have someone in this conversation be a bad guy is a you problem.
The bad guy is Maurice Washington. Regardless of what the final agreement between lawyers is, he still did a terrible thing.

Why do you need the law to direct you to forming an opinion of what he did was awful?

I feel like I die a little inside every time I read these posts. 30-50 Feral Hogs, regarding this statement, "I'm very interested in hearing why he A. possessed a video that was directed to be deleted 3 years prior and B. Why he sent it to the girl with the phrase "remember this hoe". I am going to take the swing at why.
A. possessed a video that was directed to be deleted 3 years prior and B
-Someone sent him the video of his ex-girl friend giving two guys oral sex. 90% of the guys on this board, at 18 years old, would have saved this. Wrong, sure, but tell me who wouldn't have?
B. Why he sent it to the girl with the phrase "remember this hoe"
-because he was pissed that she wasn't interested in sex with him, and this was his response
Hypothetically, lets say these are the answers to your questions. What do you want to happen if this is the case? Kicked off the team, suspension and/or jail? I am struggling understating the agenda of the individuals who want him out without knowing the truth about the case. Don’t give me the bulls#!t optics of the University. This is a University that has issues and imperfection’s just like all others. Additionally, this one issue doesn’t change the opinion of jackass Colorado fan or meathead internet media writer guy about UNL.
This is my humble opinion of what should happened, exactly what is happening! He didn’t make the video nor was he in the video. Should he have done what he did? No. Could he pay severely because of the child porn law? Yes
I don't really care what happens to him. If he stays on the team, fine. If Frost boots him, fine. My opinion of his character today isn't going to change. He still has an opportunity to change his life and do better. Based on getting caught with weed, regardless of the charges being dropped, shows me he's not yet ready to make good choices.

You cherry picked one thing out of and constructed a strawman you could attack instead of the overall argument. I'm not going to research to defend a strawman argument.
Or you can't find one organized religion website to back up your point

Wait....you said the church's websites did these things.
Yes, the Catholic church is pro-life and there are lots of Christian groups or organizations that are political.
I'm waiting for you to show me the official Catholic website that is political. If it is, I would assume it would be at the Diocese level. I've provided my Diocese website. You claim that my local church is hypocritical because it doesn't preach to me to vote Republican when the Diocese is telling them to.
I have learned that when someone spouts things they believe as fact and then are asked to back them up, and they tell YOU to go do your own research, it tends to not favor their original point.

A little concerning that we are "light years" ahead of where we were last year and yet the game plan was too much for the offense.

Honest question from someone new to this debate, and i really do not have a strong stance on this issue.
- What social issues (reflecting Biblical values) are not political?
In my opinion..
The act of abortion is a moral issue.
Keeping it legal or making it illegal is the political issue

found your problem
No to derail this riveting topic but I always find it interesting when people make comments like this. Did you have a problem with iphones at some point? Or what is your issue with them? I've had one for close to 10 years. No issue.
Same goes with cell phone companies. Some people absolutely hate Sprint. I've been with Sprint for almost 20 years. No issues.
