Someone mentioned that our recruits have basically staying loyal as well as current players.  It makes me wonder if MJ knows everything, his place in the everything and is cool with it and he's dropped enough breadcrumbs for recruits like Coleman to be cool with it all.   As you note, not only has word not gotten out our our AD office but it hasn't been revealed by the other side- the new coach's environment.

If it is true that Trev has had his guy for some time and that he got MJ to take the secrecy oath, then I'm saying Trev missed his calling.  Sign him up as CIA Director today!

That is why I am feeling it is, has been, Dave Aranda. I don't think Mickey could give info/feeling without knowing who would be new coach and knowing that that coach would fully retain Mickey.

Just one guy's opinion from up here in Minnesota who live next to annoying Iowa fans who in a span of 3 weeks have gone from fire the Ferentz family to just simply saying "that's Iowa football. We dominate the West."

Out of those, want to take a guess?

Honestly, and I don't know why, but I have a feeling it's Aranda.  From Trev's presser when he fired Frost, it just seemed like he was describing Aranda to a T.  Just a gut feeling, sprinkled with a little bit of hope.

Trev has his guy. Money isn’t an issue….

Which coach is it going to be? :smokin

Kiffin, Rhule, Meyer, Fickell or Aranda? :snacks:

I agree with this.  I think he's had his guy for quite sometime and out of respect to Mickey, the team, and the future HC, he has kept it quiet and is ready and waiting to deliver a solid to great hire for the Huskers. GBR!!!

NOW ONLY IF I KNEW WHO IT WAS....

He didn't say the SIL's husband saw him. It could be the wife just said Trev was talking to some middle aged dude named Matt. The husband could have shown her a picture of Rhule and the wife must have said yeah..this guy.

Then the husband could have 'mansplained' who Matt was.

I have a lot of free time today lol.

Ok. 589 may be too long of thread

  5. 510.  I have said that I would like, Doeren. I have said I would like Aranda. Back on page 413, or was it 478, maybe it was 500 something, I actually had a gut feeling about it being Aranda.

Anyways....I have read that Mullen doesn't or didn't like recruiting, hence is failure at Florida (supposedly), why not try and throw the Brinks truck at him and convince him to keep Mickey and Applewhite.  His offensive mind and their quality recruits could be a buzz saw in the west.

I'm am, for now, sticking with Aranda and/or Doeren. But on page 671, I may have different ideas. Stay posted and keep the pages going.  2 weeks to go, 700 pages is still possible.!!!  GBR

  6. If Feldman's list/report is accurate, ugh. Very lackluster list, with the exception of Rhule (maybe). I agree with Bisonwiches, Rhule would bolt for Pedo State once Franklin gets canned. Too bad we couldn't just entice Franklin so Rhule can go home.

I still have a gut feeling that Aranda is the guy. I know, I know, "but Sip said.........." just a hopeful wish is all.

I didn't say he was going to come here I said Nebraska should aim for a coach like him. He is a established head coach who has Utah ranked in the top 25. It hurts not to try to go get someone like him.

Gotcha. His level would be great.  Misread your post. My bad

And you know anyone of those names I mentioned if anyone of those coaches were to come there would be excitement around the program. Instant buzz, recruits would come here.

Bob for sure said he wasn't interested nobody has said anything about Mark.

Whittingham isn't coming. He's a Utah guy. He's 62 years old. He doesn't want to rebuild. He is not coming.

Doeren looks like a winner. Wonder if he would consider coming here?

I hope so.  Seems like a no nonsense kind of coach that has big ten/midwest coaching.

My only other "theory" would be hire Mickey, have have him hire Vance as DC (maybe a SEC type D with Mickeys recruiting) and who knows......He hire Tommy Herman as OC. LETS GO???

I can type for hours on end......I just wanna watch us be good again. I am sick of listening to my Iowa and Wisconsin friends talking crap.

Back in the heyday of the 90's, other teams sent coaches here to see how Nebraska developed it's players.  Our strength and conditioning was top tier stuff, FSU, Florida and Wisconsin, being some of those schools.  Somewhere along the line, we lost that, so perhaps it's time we sent our coaches out and relearn what we've lost.  Or better yet bring in a coach who is already familiar with player development.  Dave Aranda went from 2-7 to 12-2, in one year and Matt Rhule went from 1-11 to 11-3 in two years.  That's development.

Either of these coaches would be able to bring enough in recruiting and be able to develop that talent to be competitive, and get back to winning games we should be winning, with the occasional highlight season.  Just my $.02

I agree with that statement and two "candidates."
