So, North Dakota ball?

But what's that different going to be?
Unless some top tier coach is just in wings, waiting to walk through the door, were in for more of the same...
Frost is a bottom 5 power 5 coach, an average coach will have better results and have us bowling every year if we can maintain top 25 recruiting, which I think we can with "NIL"

Thank god Frost is terrible and not just mediocre. We'd be doomed to him for a decade plus.

Trev also must consider that this year’s schedule was a set up for real success. The easiest schedule for sometime. Can Trev really use the win/loss record this year as a prediction of what may happen in future years wt a potential 12 game conference only schedule once the Big 10 expands?? I’m frankly really concerned if Frost wins the bare minimum and keeps his job. I see nothing but mediocrity for the future then—kiss the sellout streak goodbye and watch apathy set in.
So unless there is a huge immediate turnaround and we are able to return to our kool-aide preseason win predictions, I will be ready to move on from Frost. We all cheered him on but the experiment hasn’t worked
The easier schedule this year was one of the main reasons I wanted a Frost gone last year. Would have been a good opportunity for a new coach to reach a bowl game and start building success. Too bad we wasted it and another year of our lives.

Concerns on both lines were accurate

Actually, 5-4-4 would protect all the rivalry (trophy) games and balance out the schedules a little better. A 3-5-5 doesn't protect all the trophy games. Three teams have four of them and Minnesota actually has five.
Here's my stab at it. Games in red are trophy games. Each team plays five teams every year and alternates the other eight every other year.
Thanks for working it out. I figured it was possible, but hadn't done the work to draw up a possible schedule.
I like getting a repeatable schedule like this because it lets us play everyone regularly and have opportunities to go to away games against all the teams in the conference as a fan. You can rework the groupings for the 8 alternative teams every 4 years after you get a full set of Home-Away as well.

I think the TV people want less permanent matchups, not more.
Interesting, I'd think they'd still rather have 9 games than 8 though. Also those non permanent teams you still see every other year or 2 out of 4, so they'd get the less common match ups just as often still.
-
I saw a lot of talk about the 3-5-5 model, wouldn't a 5-4-4 model also be possible if they want to keep 9 conference games? You'd get a lot more permanent match ups and the TV contracts would still be happy with the 9 games.

The boosters wanting to keep Frost more than win also struck a big blow to my hopes that we will ever be relevant again. They definitely want the gold old days back more than they want to do what it takes to compete now.

This is optimistic?
It'd be tied for the best season in the last 5 years.

I feel pretty decent about the off season additions, so I'm feeling a little more optimistic. Thinking 5-7 at this point.

Iowa is terrible at running the ball as well. This is us sucking more than it being a strength for them.

Or - and hear me out here - other people simply disagree with you. But no, I'm sure all those people are just liars - not that you could be close-minded about the possibilities because - let's be honest - you're always right.
I think people in general are more delusional than dishonest. Also, 3 isn't exactly right though for how a lot of people feel. They care about winning, they just care more about the good old boy being coach.

Boy you could hear it through the TV as the refs blew call after call.
Booing the refs was the peak crowd involvement. Says a lot about how things are going.

I hate losing with a passion. But, I had a blast in Lincoln and at the game on Saturday. No, that's not a moral victory as some like to put it. The crowd was in the game. The atmosphere was great. The losing part sucked but it was exciting right up to the end.
Now, we need to keep that and start ending these games with a win.
I was there Saturday as well and you are crazy. That was the worst crowd I've seen when the game wasn't a blowout. It didn't get loud until the 4th quarter, because no one was willing to believe they would be able to pull it off.

Michigan St has the worst pass defense in the country...

Why is the clock stopped so long there? Whatever, lets get another field goal at least.

Interesting our LBs were playing so far off the ball on a 4th down attempt there.
Yeah BIg Ten refs must be instructed not to call holding and just let em play. When they do call it it seems like it's disproportionately on us.
Yeah, pretty crazy they didn't call it when he's pulling our guy to the ground from behind.

Is it? If the line isn't blocking to such a degree that Nebraska is that much of an outlier, that's really on the line.
How can any running back do well when they're getting hit that quickly?
Yes, it shows the run blocking being completely average, not terrible. Our RB production isn't good though. Maybe points some of that problem towards the RB and not all on the O-Line. The s#!t pass protection though definitely gives some props to Adrian for producing at all.

I don't feel like the AD will fire Frost for poor performance and thus pay out his contract. I can see him getting two more years. Next season's schedule is immeasurably easier (on paper and as of right now). So I think he's "safe" for now.
If the NCAA investigations confirm that he violated his contract, which would be terms for firing for cause/breaching his contract, then we have a whole different ball game.
what a s#!tty game. So many things that have become enigmatic of this team under Frost.
Nullifying his contract and not paying Frost is how we destroy our chances of hiring a good coach. Simply firing him because he's been s#!t won't really hurt our chances. He's had time, but didn't get the job done.
Easier schedule also sounds good for a new coach like others have mentioned. Chance for them to get off to a strong start.
