  1. I'm hoping Trev surprises everyone and there's a rising star currently coaching in the NFL, give Nebraska a complete fresh start, I'm not a fan of any current college coaches mentioned. He would build a staff that can recruit and develop both offensive and defensive that can dominate.

  2. Let's revamp the whole Husker program. How about a rising star currently coaching in the NFL, someone like a young Sean McVay type.  Keep Mickey as wide receivers and Associate Head Coach and his recruiting prowess.  Offensive and defensive line coaches have to be the best. Spend as much money as necessary.

I'd have no issue with an NFL guy tbh.  Harbaugh is a weird dude, but I'd like Michigans record or his time at Stanford......Cally for all the hate (Me included) had the O clicking.  He brought his buddy Coz.  Had he brought a legit DC, he might still be here.  Kellen Moore for example is making 2 million/year at Dallas as OC.

One thing I like is an outside source is helping.  It's been REALLY quiet so whatever is going on is being done without leaks.  I really liked when he said he knows a lot of folks and will get their opinions.  I am hoping this not only includes the coach, but possible offensive/defensive schemes....

I am all on board with a rising star young NFL guy like Kellen Moore.  Keep Mickey and get the best offense/defense lines coaches.

  4. Boy this a depressing thread reading all this negativity from a bunch of "know-it-alls".  I'm just gonna trust Trev to make a splash hire that will build a program that the Husker fans deserve.  I'm expecting Mickey to be a big part.  This could take a long time before we find out so I'll pay more attention to volleyball and basketball.

Here is an Idea.  Hire Vance Joseph, current DC for Az Cardinals and former HC at Denver Broncos, as HC and he assumes duties as DC.  He retains MJ as Asst Head Coach/Passing Game Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator or even OC.  VJ also brings in brother Sammy Joseph as Stength and Conditioning.  Hires BB as Co DC/ST Coordinator.

I like what Applewhite has done with the running backs so far and seems to be a good recruiter, so I wouldnt mind him sticking around,  and Beckton also

I said similar a couple weeks ago, but I thought Mickey as HC and Vance as DC.

  6. How about a younger up and coming coordinator currently in the NFL?  There are a lot of impressive coaches in the NFL that are learning from the best.  Make sure to keep Mickey Joseph for sure though.

You know that if Colorado is paying any attention to the Cornhuskers search and they see this you know they will definitely try to bring him back home to Colorado. For me I understand he has been and won at the highest level as their oc but my only thinking would be who would he bring along for his coaching staff and what type of defense would he run? That would be a site to behold if you could get him.

ink Mickey Joseph is the same, kids would run through a brick wall for him also, yet Mickey fits the Nebraska culture much better.

In my opinion, Nebraska can only sell itself to recruits via elite facilities + elite fanbase (NIL)

I think we need a coach who can sell himself on being a winner, and a history of sending kids to the pros... because Nebraska can't sell either of those, at this point in time (not even close)

I think that is what top recruits look for, above any other deciding factors (with exception of location, for some kids).

With all that said... Urban Meyer is the first that comes to (my) mind. Lane Kiffin seems like a name that can sell that (to a degree).

As a Raider fan, I've always wondered what Jon Gruden can do in the college ranks... I doubt most our fans would be interested in that name; but it is an intriguing name.

What about going after Sean Payton, he's still young enough to get this program right.

    Agreed.

Trev seems to be much more pragmatic than his predecessor who sought the new shiniest toy. The announcement of the coach could be a complete surprise name most of us haven't heard of (likely an OC or DC at a solid program) which could underwhelm the fans.

How about an OC or DC from NFL?

Not a fan of this idea if true. I'm sorry.

I like the Bieniemy idea!  An experienced NFL guy would attract high level recruits and I would trust his ability to build a coaching staff that would develop pro-caliber athletes.  That's why I suggested hire Mickey's brother Vance to assist Mickey and build a program.

Yet he was the only runningback anywhere close to 7 yards a carry.  I think ability is more important than what the scale says.

And when you're a 250 lb man 10-15 lbs is negligible.   That dude could take a healthy dump and lose 10 lbs.

I think Yant would make a great linebacker.

  11. My hope would be we wait until Georgia season is over then perhaps JT Daniels becomes available. We convince him

that he, Whipple, Fidone, and Mickey Joseph's receivers would be unstoppable!  Then he becomes NFL ready just like

    Pickett!

Yes he was a decent runner in high school. He’s a long strider and it doesn’t appear he is running fast but he eats up a lot of ground in the open field. He may not be the most elusive QB though.

I'd much prefer his arm strength, I don't care if he's elusive. Let's get a "quarterback" to throw, not run.
