  1. When does this become an upper management issue? Who is in charge of hiring the AD? The Huskers have had 4 coaches and 5 Athletic Directors since 2003. That is not a recipe for success at all. The entire Husker football organization is a mess. The coaches and the athletic directors are being used as scapegoats.

They absolutely need to hit a home run with this next coach. If they don't they need to start looking at upper management. Why in the hell would they allow Steve Pederson to come in off the street and fire the head coach that had a better start to his career than Bob and Tom?

The huskers are a dumpster fire right now. s#!t rolls down hill.

His interview in the segment below turned me off from him, and I was an intrigued party prior. Calling this guy out for not being himself is super hypocritical from a guy who openly admits he has created multiple personas over the years to help generate fame and success. We all have our, "hang out with our friends," vibe, and also our, "I am at work talking with clients," vibe. They aren't the same and that is perfectly acceptable.

Him and Deion are friends. They were joking with each other

No. Frost has been a coach since 2007 and all but two of those years were at the FBS levels. He was 33-8 while working as an OC at Oregon, OC'd a national title contender, and then we all know what his 2017 UCF team did. I realize it's fun to play revisionist's history with Frost nowadays but he was, by most objective measurements, a great hire for Nebraska back in 2017.

I'd like to see Deion get into the FBS and put a couple of years under his belt before he tries to coach at a place like Nebraska. There's a reason you don't usually hand a F4 driver the keys to a F1 car.

How did all that experience work out for him?

  4. The huskers are looking for a unicorn. We need a coach that can change the culture while staying true to the tradition but also fit into the current culture. The coach must also be one hell of a recruiter. We will not settle for mediocrity after 2 or 3 seasons at most we expect to be in the big 10 championship. If that isn't enough we also need a coach that fits the Nebraska image.

All you guys keep listing these mediocre coaches with barely above .500 records. Knowing you'll be calling for their head when they get here and do the samething or worse.

It's not the 90s and early 2000s anymore. The Huskers SUCK. Nobody wants to come here because we have unrealistic expectations. What kind of program fires coaches winning over 70% of their games?

The Huskers need to hit a homerun. The two guys that have the best chance at doing that are urban meyer or Deion Sanders. If they hire anybody else we will be doing this same song and dance again in the next 4-5 years. Rise and repeat. I'm really sick of this crap.

Deion Sanders recruited a top player away from Alabama by convincing him to "play for his people" at an HBCU against other HBCUs. Doing that and playing against that competition has very little correlation to coaching a P5 team. There's no guarantee he can recruit anyone to Nebraska any better than another coach can.
Given the choice between Sanders and Joseph, I'm sticking with Joseph.

Do you think that Deion was the first coach to tell a top recruit they could change the trajectory by going to a hbcu?

It made an impact because Deion Sanders is the one that said it. He's recruiting 5 and 4 stars to a city in the middle of a water crisis. I don't even have to mention their facilities. Your comment is laughable and speaks volumes as to why the Huskers have been free falling ever since the firing of Frank.

Deion at Nebraska would be competing with Alabama for recruits.

The best players tend to make the worst coaches because elite players are able to get by on their skill and athleticism, and aren't able to teach/coach ability to their players.  I am not saying this is a Deion problem, but success as a player hasn't shown to be an indicator for success as a coach.

"Despite all of his physical gifts, Deion Sanders was big into studying his opponent. He was one of the first DBs to use portable DVD players to study opponents while on the bus and planes to games. "

He says nice things on camera and has had a couple of good seasons at a non-division one football school. It his genuinely hysterical that people are propping this up as evidence of why Nebraska should hire him.

Sounds like you're describing Scott Frost if you change a couple of good seasons to just one. Did you feel the same way about the frost hire?

I think we all know the chances of them hiring Mickey are quite low at this point.

In Deion's case, his lack of P5 coaching experience (even as a coordinator) is a reasonable and glaring weakness in his resume. A lot of coaches say the right things and look good on camera until you ask them to beat Michigan on the road or Ohio State in a conference championship game. There isn't a lot of evidence to suggest Deion is qualified or capable of handling either of those challenges, but I look forward to seeing him get a shot at another division one school in the near future.

I think the experience thing is a weak excuse. Deions years of playing football at a high level winning Superbowls and national championships has to count for something.

  9. Deion Sanders will be the best hire since Frank Solich.

The biggest complaints I've heard for years from die hard fans is we can't recruit and there needs to be a culture change. Deion Sanders answers both of those. If Deion can get a 5* to JSU what do you think he can get to Lincoln.

"Ochaun Mathis: Nebraska has 'a losing culture going on' that must be addressed"

    https://youtu.be/XdlfEhR7jl8

"Jackson State coach Deion Sanders flipped the nation's No. 1 overall recruit Travis Hunter to JSU--from Sanders' alma mater, Florida State."

Nobody was screaming "we need power 5 experience" when Scott  got hired. Frost had ONE winning season and that was good enough for y'all.  How much power 5 experience did bo have?

Deion Sanders isn't proven but 17-12 Dave Aranda, with 2 full seasons of experience, is a smash hire. A 58% winning percentage ain't good enough for Nebraska. We all know that. This guy can't even recruit.

I'm a big fan of the huskers but I can't watch these train wrecks every weekend. A cb gets 3 pi's in a quarter and doesn't get benched. Blown coverages, blown tackles, missed blocks, dropped passes, terrible passes it's just non stop disappointment.
