Interesting that Wisconsin fired Chryst not long after Nebraska fired Frost and then flip to Fickell after the hiring of Rhule. It’s an arms race in the B10. Wisconsin obviously views Nebraska as it’s benchmark in the West which is crazy considering what our record has been the last several years.
I guarantee you Wisconsin isn’t viewing us as it’s benchmark lol

Feel like Rhule already has more P5 experience on his supporting staff with Collins being rumored than frostys entire staff combined

Wow, huge get for wiscy if true. Thought Leonard was a shoe in. Fickell was the one coach i would have considered above Rhule

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by 'shut out?' The fact that Rhule wasn't on any local broadcasts or radio programs doing interviews?
The reason I ask is because what happened in the local media circuit was pretty routine yesterday. University sent out a press release and provided some statements, and then set up a presser for the following days. So far as I can remember, they've never paraded a new coaching hire around the local media circuit the day of a hiring. That usually comes in the following days/weeks/months.
But yes yesterday was 100% intentional. Trev worked in the media so he's pretty savvy, and there was much to be gained from the national exposure yesterday vs. the local exposure, particularly with the transfer portal and signing period coming up.
Shut out as in none of the local reporters got the scoop and rather it was Ian rappaport/national guys with zero ties to us. I would just assume one of the local guys would be tipped off from the university to break the news for their split second of fame.
on a related note, the college gameday orchestration was such a classy move by all involved. Great press on a national stage

There was a game this season where a defensive back made a big jarring hit that he celebrated with another player, seemingly unaware that they had just given up a first down near the goal line on the way to a meltdown loss.
My favorite is when a cornerback celebrates by doing the incomplete sign yet it was a clear pass interference on us.

Hey ya’ll! First timer here, have visited this site occasionally over the years and finally decided to be a contributor!
I think Trev Alberts really handled himself well throughout this. For whatever reason, this university and football team have somehow found a way to have egg on their faces more often than not. Refreshing to see us act like professionals throughout this.
I found it a little peculiar the local media was shut out from this when news broke. Does anyone think this was intentional? As in, a way for trev to send a message and perhaps chart a course of making Nebraska more of a national entity? While I am new here, I do read and listen to most of the local reporters on the program (I’d argue we could do without half, if not more, or the writers that are assigned to Neb sports).
I think it would be beneficial for us to be more of a national brand and, in a way, reduce some of the influence/sources local media has to lessen some of the fishbowl effect

Thanks! I didn’t see that, seems like a lively discussion!

There’s a new Rhuler in town! What changes, positive or negative, can we expect to see with recruiting? I read Rhule has roots both in Penn and Texas- 2 areas we could benefit from getting players from.

Christmas came early this year. Matt Rhule, new head coach, what do we all think?
I am a big fan of this hire. He seems highly respected and someone who will represent the university well off the field.

Doesn’t seem like it. Hard pressed to believe leonhard would come here when he’s had nfl interest and there are probably schools who will talk to him after wiscys stunt.
hopefully fickell flames out and wiscy has 20 years of mediocrity.
