  1. Thought it might be of interest to some - Huskers.com has updated the coaching staff with some new names. It looks like they haven't removed anybody beyond the on-field coaching staff from last year, so Ron Brown, Steve Cooper, etc. are still on there as analysts, but who knows if all those folks are staying or not. But the names without headshots appear to all be new faces. Nice to put the titles to the names I guess

It is kind of interesting to note that Rhule took 2 full months from when he was hired at Baylor to complete his on-field Assistant Coaching selections.  (middle of February) And the last one filled was his QB Coach.

I also didn't realize that Matt Lubick was his WR Coach there.

One other thing of interest in the article above, is that Rhule hired a lot of assistants straight out of the High School ranks. I wonder if he has given a look at any Nebraska high school coaches (and how the fan base would react to him doing that here). For example, Michael Huffman - Bellevue West Head Coach/Quarterbacks has built quite a program.

Fun fact about Lubick with that - according to Wikipedia (obviously the most trustworthy source) he had accepted the WR's job at Ole Miss, resigned that a month later to take the Co-OC/WR's job at Baylor, then two months after that, resigned at Baylor to take the Co-OC/WR's job at Washington  so never actually coached with Rhule at Baylor, and somehow I get the feeling that Rhule wouldn't have much interest in him now, lol

While I share the hope for someone like Schumann, I do hesitate, as Rhule as mentioned one of his biggest mistakes at Carolina was not having guys he worked with before and trusted.   So far, everyone of his hires is someone he's worked with, in some capacity.   That makes it seem like a big stretch that one of the most important hires would be a coach that he has no visible connection that I can see.  I hope I'm wrong, as it seems like Schumann will be a homerun hire.

For what it’s worth, Fran Brown, who has worked with Rhule at multiple stops, is on the Georgia defensive staff with Schumann, and maybe recommended him to Rhule. So could just be a second-hand connection. Also matches up with Rhule’s description of wanting young, energetic coaches
