I would love an example, if anybody can think of one, of a portal QB that transferred to a failing, losing program who hadn’t been bowl eligible and turned in a successful season.

I think there is a lot of knowledge out there of portal players being pretty hit or miss, QB’s especially so. QB’s not transferring to top tie  programs even more so.

Point is, it’s likely Rhule wasn’t picking from the cream of the crop.

if this is the reason he couldn't do better than a QB known for to's (or keep a perfectly serviceable QB already on the roster), then buckle up because it's going to be a bumpy ride.

rhule didn't do anything to make neb more appealing for QBs or any offensive players.

    This season....ugh...easiest schedule in decades...

turnovers were bad, but play calling and game management was responsible for at least three loses (minny, maryland, and wiscy). getting out coached by some truly terrible teams is not an auspicious start to a coach's tenure. and even the turnovers, got to blame the coaches somewhat when they get a qb from the portal known for turnovers.

next year might be better, but after that we could be a lot better and still missing bowls given this staffs ceiling and the improvement in competition.

That was quite a jump from what I asked. So you have no one?

Yeah it is crazy northwestern made one and we beat them.

i don't get paid 9 mil to find players. ask rhule why he didn't get someone better or why they didn't keep thompson or even do a better job preparing chubba and start him earlier.

Things have been crappy for so long, it's difficult to keep things in perspective.

1 year ago, not two, three or four. Many of us had high expectations for his season, we were dealt a number of injuries on offense and the quarterback chosen played terribly below what was anticipated. Our ceiling was around six wins and we could've won one more and didn't.

If we beat Michigan St. we're bowl bound. All it tells us is that we're far from being as competitive as we want to be. Yet there were times we were so close to winning...That's what makes it so incredibly frustrating. We can't rely on only IF this, that or something else would've happened or not happened we would've won. That's like making excuses. All the team can do is continue to improve and, I think they will. Plus, we've got to do well addressing our needs and filling them.

good thing this should be one of the tougher schedules we have in a long while ... oh wait... i don't think people appreciate what an epic failure it was not to win six with this pathetic schedule. make all the excuses you want, but coaching cost us at least 3 wins of not more. a wasted year, and worse, a waste of the best opportunity we'll ever have to get some real momentum. hopefully they don't whiff on QB again and waste next year as well.

Their own lack of organization to execute a completely terrible decision to fake a 60 yard FG into the wind, unbelievable.

Terrible decisions saved by ineptitude. Between this and terrible clock management - especially to end the half, is mind blowing.

had my doubts about rhule, specifically his hires and whether or not he'd be able to adjust in the transfer portal world. think he's done some things well despite themselves, but did not expect game management would be a huge liability from the ceo, experience guy.

  6. i learned that coaching at neb is the greatest flim flam known to man. you can become a multi millionaire failing in the worst division in the p5; and fans will defend you for doing worse than nw interim coach! but at least we helped out south carolina and the panthers in the process.

Who should they have picked up?

good point. nothing is the coach's fault. why did we fire frost? he wasn't on the field losing.

crazy to see northwestern make a bowl, must have better players and not the disadvantages at neb.
