  1. Sorry if this was already posted:

What I took from this article was that Bo believes that a "TRUE" commit is one that is no longer looking at other schools. So if a kid that calls him that happens to be committed to another school Bo doesnt consider him a commit.

There is no hypocrisy in it. He tells them if they still want to shop around dont commit to NU on the spot. It would be easier if a kid waited til all his visits were done and then chose a school. See: Owa

I agree. This just tells me that the staff won't consider a kid committed if they are still taking visits.

Makes sense, especially for a position like QB where we only take one. A kid committs, but keeps looking around - we need to keep our options available too then.

As long as they are clear with the kids about this policy, i have no problem with it.

  2. ESPN had him rated him more like scout. From reading that, it seems they didn't think he was quite fast enough or big enough to be a top RB prospect. A little more size and/or a little more speed and they say everyone would've been after him.

Guessing scout saw things the same way as ESPN, but rivals thought his speed and/or size was good enough.

  3. Mizzou is just puzzling at best. They have 14 WRs returning next year and yet they will sign 4????? Puzzling.

There's nothing puzzling at all. Of those 14, probably half are walk-ons and wont' ever play. Of the rest, they're very inexperienced, with Alexander and Perry getting most of the reps last season as seniors.

With a pass-oriented offense, why not sign 3 of the top 70 receivers in the country? Missouri signed more DB's than WR's, and some of the 'athletes' will end up on defense as well.

It is puzzling, it would be like a team having 14 linebackers. Its okay if its puzzling and you admit it, it wouldnt make you a worse fan.

I don't think it's that puzzling given their offense. They need WRs for it to work and they have some big shoes to fill with Alexander leaving.

In addition, some of their younger guys, like Wes Kemp, haven't been that impressive. Might not be a bad idea to bring in someone to push these guys a little more.

If talent wants to come, i think you go after it. Kinda like our 8 DL players (or whatever it is) that we have right now.

  4. Still needing to get committs at the end of January is not the position we want to be in.

What's strange here is that Bell sounded just about set to committ. He then visists but afterward he seems to have cooled and starts looking at other options.

  5. i think in my opinion some guys are doing it half ass.....

Me too. I think there are some guys on the staff that can recruit pretty well, but others that are very poor. Leads to big signing like Green but also complete botches like with Hill and CC.

  6. Scout has an article that hints at him being solid but wants to see the offense open it up a bit. Could this bowl game be an audition for our offense? I'm not saying a W isn't important but our D is so good that we can be put in holes every now and then, so a sacrifice of a wide open offense to save a few recruits might not be the worst thing in the world. I know the power run game got us to the Big 12 CG but this might be a good time to let the ball fly.

I wonder if the lack of contact from Gilmore for a couple of recruits is a sign that changes are forthcoming on the Staff?

The problem i see there is that Gilmore went on the in home visit to see CC.

If Gilmore was out, then why is he the one visiting some recruits?

maybe they haven't gotten around to sharing (gilmore's future) with him yet? you would think he would have been able to develop a talent like Niles Paul, but so far that hasn't work out either...

we will see some new coaches, sooner or later....i think it is inevitable.

I think so too, but the hypothesis was that Gilmore's lack of contact was a result of being pushed out. If he hasn't been told he is out, that obviously can't be the reason.

Also, i don't think Bo would send a guy he is about to can to see a recruit either.

  8. Doesn't a 3 or 4 star today being a 2 or 3 star a few years ago imply this years class not really being that much different than previous years?

on the flip side it may imply that MU's previous classes were underrated. And the product on the field would also back up that thought

I would definitely have to say that the classes with Daniel, Franklin, Coffman, Maclin, Alexander, Weatherspoon, Hood, Woffert, etc. were underrated.

But looking at this years class i was think MU might on the verge of doing better. However, what i'm hearing saying suggests that it will be more of the same. Do you believe this to be the case?

  9. Spano is likely done after tearing the same ACL twice. Martinez should, imo, really be at another position.

RB i think we could live without as Burkhead and Robinson have looked good as true frosh, but we could really use a QB right about now.

Danario Alexander tore his ACL twice, and had 3 surgeries. Now he's SI First Team All American. Hold on to hope.

Wow. I did not know that...

No kidding... hold on to hope.

  11. I'll take NU's class and to each their own. Pelini's have made a name for themselves defensively and we can see the product on the field. Held OU to 3 points, KSU to 3 points, MO to 12, and UT to 13. Most of the champions the last few years have won because of their defense. Look at UF and OU. Most prolific offense with tons of skill players, dominated by Florida's D. Once the Pelini's get the guys they want on defense, we'll be even better and more efficient. Defenses are always harder to fix than offenses. Once we get a good QB in or a few good skill positions, we'll be on the warpath. I have no doubt if Gabbert had stayed at NU we'd be at least 12-1 this year. Offensive skill players are fun to watch but they're not as valuable as a well-functioning defense.

That's the thing.....we needed defense in this class which no one seems to realize. It's very hard to compare MUs and NUs classes because we are staked full of defense and they are stacked full of offense.

I really think both classes are full of quality gets and both should be rated between 25-30 on rivals as classes. I have a hard time thinking MUs class is the 17th best class in the country. If Lucas commits, I'll be eating my words.

Mizzou's class is looking pretty good. I could buy it.

I think our class is very good on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively we're currently light on WRs as well as RB and QB is a glaring hole.

  12.

Mizzou should only be taking 2-3 guys correct? Their class is at 19. They have something like 14 WRs coming back right???? But yet they stand a good chance to add 4 in this class. Hunt, Carter, Lucas, Sasser. To me, that seems very odd. The only two that I would imagine you would make room for if they wanted to come are Carter and Lucas. Sasser and Hunt arent exactly "cant miss" talents. They are good additions but not exactly kids that one would make room for.

They do have 14 returning WR's. However, 3 are walk-on types who likely will only play special teams at best. 2 will be seniors and 3 juniors. So at the upper end, pretty thin. And overall pretty inexperienced. So, of 11 receivers, 2 or 3 probably just won't cut it, and will see little field time. That leave about 8 or 9 for a team that puts 3 or 4 receivers per play. You need depth. I'd love to see Hunt, Carter, Lucas and Sasser all commit. Mizzou is a throwing team and will be for the foreseeable future.

That's a good point. MU goes with a lot of 4 and 5 reciever sets, so it makes sense that they would have a lot of 'em.

Interesting that many of MU's prospects are not as heavily recruited by other teams. But obviously someone who looked at them saw some ability - hence their rating.
